Save Caterpillars, Not Babies
New York’s new law, which permits ending a pregnancy up to the point up to the point of birth (and sometimes even after birth), has spurred a number of copycat bills in states like Vermont and Virginia by progressive politicians.
One thing about progressives is that they seem to prefer the lives of animals over humans. A female Democratic candidate for the state house in my district had a rescued pitbull in a “family photo” on a campaign brochure (no children, but a rescued pitbull).
Leftists are all about protecting animals and the wildlife, whether its a pitbull, who might attack a child in the neighborhood, to polar bears in Alaska.
Nowhere is this contradiction as obvious as in Virginia, where a female Democratic state legislator introduced a copycat abortion bill and a bill to save caterpillars on the same day.
The Democratic Virginia delegate who has recently come under fire for sponsoring a bill in the Virginia House of Delegates that would allow the termination of a pregnancy up to 40 weeks old, is also the chief patron of a bill that would protect the lives of “fall cankerworms” during certain months.
Democratic Virginia Del. Kathy Tran introduced “House Bill No. 2495 – Fall cankerworm; spraying prohibited during certain months” on Jan. 9, the same day as “House Bill No. 2491 — Abortion; eliminate certain requirements.”
Tran came under fire Tuesday for her support of legislation that would allow an abortion to be performed just moments before the birth of a child.
“Where it’s obvious a woman is about to give birth…would that be a point at which she could still request an abortion?” Republican Del. Todd Gilbert asked Tran.
My bill would allow that, yes,” she confirmed.
Tran’s other piece of legislation aims to protect insects such as “gypsy moths” and “cankerworms.”
According to Virginia’s Legislative Information System, House Bill No. 2495 is:
A BILL to amend and reenact § 15.2-2403 of the Code of Virginia and to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Article 1 of Chapter 9 of Title 15.2 a section numbered 15.2-926.4, relating to cankerworms; eradication; prohibition on spraying during certain months.
Tran apparently deleted all of her social media following backlash to her abortion bill.

Whose life is more important?

Splendid priorities!!
Worth remembering that Adolph Hitler was a conservationist.

Hitler liked dogs too.
[3]
Many Nazi leaders, including Hitler and Hermann Göring, were supporters of animal rights and conservation. Several Nazis were environmentalists, and species protection and animal welfare were significant issues in the Nazi regime.
Heinrich Himmler made an effort to ban the hunting of animals. Göring was a professed animal lover and conservationist, who, on instructions from Hitler, committed Germans who violated Nazi animal welfare laws to concentration camps.
Like Kathy Tran, the Nazis had their priorities too. Save the animals…slaughter the Jews. Or, in Kathy’s case, save the caterpillars, slaughter the babies.
[4]
If she deleted her social media my guess is that neither bill has a chance of passing.
[5]
Eph, the Infanticide Bill was “tabled” in committee (techinically defeated), because Republicans still control the committee.
Don’t know about the caterpillar bill.
Side note: Kathy Tran’s Co-Sponsor on the Infanticide Bill has apologized for Co-Sponsoring it. She claims she “Didn’t read the bill”. This is the classic: “I’m not evil, I’m just incompetant” defense.
[6]
Rand,
Do you have a link for that side note?
That hilarious

The story won’t disappear…
[10]
More disturbing is when does abortion become another word for euthanasia???
Is abortion merely at the moment of birth or before as the proposed bill recommended? Why stop there? How about a week later? A month? A year? Just pick a date. Its gruesome and right out a scene from Dante’s Inferno.

Hey, worked for AOC, it got her elected 🙁

Many progressives are more concerned about caterpillars and rescuing pit bulls.

Move over UraniumGate — https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-01-31/venezuelas-citgo-which-refines-5-us-gasoline-weighing-bankruptcy — Russians could end up with half of Citgo and 5% of use oil refining.

Hey Kalifornians –
I notice gas in your progressive paradise is approaching $4.00 a gallon.
It’s averaging about $2.10 in the Detroit area and, if you look real hard, you can find it for under $2.00.
Of course, you may freeze to death while pumping it, but that’s another story. Plus we don’t have those nifty looking things on the end of our pump hoses. That’s got to be worth at least $2.00 per gallon.

14, apt comments LOL.
I still advocate putting CA back to “Territory” status, straighten us out then gradually integrate back into the USA

BC
With Frys points you can get $2 gas in Tucson.

this young man’s testimony will warm and break your heart at the same time.
it will warm it to see the JOY of life this young man has
and it will break it to realize that he is EXACTLY the type of person the Democrats want to exterminate in the womb

[18]
Hey with cash you can get it for $1.89/gal and won’t freeze your a$$ off doing it. 🙂

Eph and drdog09 –
Yes, but do your gas pumps have nifty nozzles like JR’ s and JimNorCal’s? That’s worth at least $2.00 a gallon.
