An Investigation CNN Won’t Devote Much Time To

It appears that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her chief of staff Saikat Chakrabart may have violated federal election laws by funneling money from PACs to private corporations to hide donations. This is in addition to the funds paid to boyfriend.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabart, allegedly created multiple LLCs to funnel campaign contributions from various political action committees (PACs), a Federal Election Commission (FEC) complaint from the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) said.

According to the NLPC, Chakrabarti’s entity, Brand New Congress LLC, ‘served as a “cutout,’ for at least $885,735 received from Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign and two federal political action committees, Brand New Congress PAC and Justice Democrats PAC.”

Under the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, all expenditures of $200 or more are required to be reported to the FEC. It appears that this structure was established to skirt FEC requirements on PAC donations, which are limited to $5,000 per election cycle.

Anytime a PAC cuts a check to a candidate’s committee, they’re required to report that to the FEC and go into detail about what the money is being used for (marketing, fundraising, etc).

“These are not minor or technical violations. We are talking about real money here. In all my years of studying FEC reports, I’ve never seen a more ambitious operation to circumvent reporting requirements. Representative Ocasio-Cortez has been quite vocal in condemning so-called dark money, but her own campaign went to great lengths to avoid the sunlight of disclosure,” Tom Anderson, director of NLPC’s Government Integrity Project, said in a statement.

The Washington Examiner detailed the allegations:

In 2016 and 2017, Chakrabarti’s PACs raised around $3.3 million for the project, primarily from small donors. During this time, the committees transferred over $1 million to two shell companies controlled by Chakrabarti with names similar to one of the PACs, Brand New Campaign LLC and Brand New Congress LLC, according to federal election filings.

A few weeks after starting the Brand New Congress PAC, Chakrabarti formed one of the companies, Brand New Campaign LLC, in Delaware, using a registered agent service and mailbox-only address.

Over the next seven months, as small-dollar political donations poured into the PAC from progressives across the country, the committee transferred over $200,000, 82 percent of the contributions, to the company Brand New Campaign LLC. The payments were for “strategic consulting,” according to federal election filings. They were sent to an apartment address listed for Chakrabarti in the Greenwich Village area of Manhattan.

In 2017, Brand New Congress PAC transferred another $240,000 to Brand New Congress LLC, also for “strategic consulting.” Another PAC co-founded by Chakrabarti that year called “Justice Democrats” transferred an additional $605,000 to Brand New Congress LLC in 2017.

Brand New Congress LLC is not registered in any Secretary of State databases. It is unclear where or when it was incorporated.

AOC: “these campaign finance laws are racist against me! ”
AOC: “I love the color green… it’s the color of money.” 😉

You’re right this will get no attention, and probably even less interest from powers that be at FEC or IRS, all too busy trying to find something, anything, on Trump from years ago. Look at what didn’t happen to Arwan (sp?) brothers for just one example.

Exactly what IW suggests it is.

“Going after porn is a calculated move because it garners support from conservatives and Christians who take the campaign at face value as a moral victory. ”

30 year ago maybe? Today, I doubt this.

    IL insanity continues unabated.
“The truth is that big government is not going to save us. People don’t need more government bureaucrats telling them how to run their lives. Instead, what people really need is to find meaning and purpose in life, and that is not something that big government is going to provide. –Michael Snyder, The Economic Collapse ”

I’d say if anything bigger government and pols that increasingly ignore will of the voters may be a bigger contributor to said catastrophe. Media overload (‘social’ or otherwise) can’t be helping either.

There’s speculation that AOC might come under fire for this.
The reason is not justice, of course, but the fact that she’s pissed off so many Dems (especially ones in leadership positions).

KH – on Illinois committing suicide, parts of the state and parts of the country will eventually not participate.

Force them to enforce it – not enough of them to do it. Just walk away and do what you can for your community to survive and thrive.

The difference between Illinois versus Ohio and Michigan (and I have lived in all three states) is that Illinois is controlled by Chicago. Ohio and Michigan don’t have a city as powerful (or crooked) as chicago.

drdog, the “Resolution” the Democrats in the House were supposedly going to vote on, has been watered down to NOTHING…and now “postponed”

As they were watering it down, they ADDED words about “discrimination against Muslims”. Of course, they ISN’T any…and the purpose of the original Resolution was to get Omar to quit her anti-Semitic remarks.

But such is the modern Democrat Party…a lot like the Dem Party that founded the KKK.

And Kalifornia’s Pension Funds are VASTLY larger and VASTLY underfunded…but the Administrators keep shoving the problem down stream year to year. They are COUNTING on a Democrat president bailing out the state.

Of course, us folks up the mountains can’t wait for the whole damn thing to collapse…so we can secede.

I am telling you: don’t take Illinois lightly. Alabama thought Clemson would be a pushoverand it got steamrollered.

You, TLS and JimNorCal need to be giving the People’s Republik all the ideas you can or Kalifornia just might end up like the Crimson Tide.
