Can Kim Foxx Survive?

Even by Chicago/Cook County standards (or lack thereof), dropping charges against Jussie Smollott stinks to high heaven.

It has even been criticized by people like Mayor Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod, who normally enjoy wallowing in slime.

There are so many questions:

  • Why did States Attorney Kim Foxx, who is responsible for prosecuting law breakers, take the side of the defendant?
  • Why did she have inappropriate conversations via text and email with Smollett’s relatives and former members of the Obama administration regarding the case through which she said she wanted to help Jussie?
  • While she officially recused herself, was she pulling strings behind the scenes when her top assistant Joseph Magats took charge?
  • Giving Foxx the benefit of the doubt, did puppet Magats take the steps he did (in dropping charges) to please his boss and benefit his career? Note: Magats is a long-time member of the department (29 years) whose career was going nowhere, but it miraculously took  off when Foxx became states attorney (two promotions in two years)
  • Why were ALL 16 charges brought by a grand jury dropped?
  • Why didn’t the Chicago Police learn about this before the general public did?
  • Magats stated that one of the reasons the charges were dropped was because Smollett is non-violent. If this is the norm, shouldn’t every crime of a non-violent nature (extortion, vandalism, etc.) be dropped?
  • Why are the court records sealed?
  • Smollett’s “punishment” is forfeiture of a $10,000 bond and two days “community service” with Jesse Jackson’s organization. Is this fair considering the fact that the Chicago Police assigned 24 men to this case because of its high profile nature?
  • Did Smollett touch the “third rail” by reporting an obviously fake “hate crime,” which focuses public attention on the multitude of fake “hate crimes” that are reported every year?
  • Did Foxx and Magats not realize that there actions were so unethical, underhanded and obvious that even the Chicago Democratic machine would be forced to turn on them? Perhaps Emanuel, Axelrod and company aren’t upset with what Foxx’s team did, but that they were so stupid and cast a nationwide spotlight on how corrupt the Chicago/Cook County criminal justice system is
  • Will the federal government pursue mail fraud charges against Smollett?

She officially recused herself from the Jussie Smollett case, but Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx has come under fire after her office made the stunning decision to drop all charges against the celebrity actor accused of orchestrating an elaborate hate crimes hoax.

The Chicago police union reiterated calls Wednesday for a federal investigation into Ms. Foxx’s handling of the case, starting with her behind-the-scenes contact with the police chief on the Smollett family’s behalf after being contacted by Tina Tchen, a onetime aide to former first lady Michelle Obama.

“It’s outrageous, but this is nothing new for Kim Foxx,” said Martin Preib, Fraternal Order of Police Chicago Lodge 7 second vice president. “We’ve been complaining about her for two years on so many levels. Her office is just completely out of control.”

Meanwhile, former Chicago Alderman Bob Fioretti called on Ms. Foxx to step down, tweeting that “Amateur hour is over,” while Chicago columnists blasted the decision to drop the 16 felony counts against Mr. Smollett, who was accused of staging a Jan. 29 hate crimes attack. He has denied the charges.

“When did you first learn of this indefensible deal? Why was it cut in secret? Why doesn’t Jussie Smollett have to own what he was accused of doing?” the Chicago Tribune asked in an editorial. “Because like it or not, Ms. Foxx, you own this.”

You might say Kim Foxx is bathing Jussie Smollett in the waters of the Chicago Way, cleansing him, and making a new man out of him, columnist @John_Kass writes.

    The greatest crime by Foxx and Magats was unbelievable stupidity, even down to community service with Jesse Jackson. Long-time Mayor Richard Daley, Sr. must be spinning in his grave.

    Magats and Bob Mueller just might happen to be crossing the street together when an 18 wheeler comes out of nowhere with someone who looks like Michelle Obama driving.

    And, everyone knows there are only three S’s in racissst. Don’t exaggerate.

    As long as I am giving credit for stupidity, add Jussie Smollott for spiking the ball.
