Hungary Under Attack for Being “Pro-Family”

Sixty years ago the west looked at Hungary, Poland, Czechoslovakia and other Eastern Block countries as backward. They were satellites of the Soviet Union. Today they represent the hope for the future of Europe as they are among the only countries that seem interested in maintaining western civilization.

Since 2010 Hungary has come under increasing attack from the left as it has become very “pro-family” and is encouraging its citizens to marry and procreate rather than importing Muslims to replace aborted children (like Sweden, Germany, France, etc.).

The National Catholic Register recently interviewed Katalin Novak, Hungary’s minister for the family.

BUDAPEST, Hungary — The Hungarian Parliament passed sweeping pro-family legislation April 1, guaranteeing various married couples and families interest-free loans, mortgage assistance and even childcare allowances for grandparents.

The seven-point package is an “important milestone” in the history of Hungarian family policy, says Katalin Novak, Hungary’s minister for the family, in a Europe that is renouncing its Christian culture and “slowly committing suicide.”

Novak also explains in this April 12 interview with the Register why Hungary has pursued such an overt pro-family approach since 2010, one that statistics show has led Hungary’s abortion rate dropping by 33.5% from 2010 to 2018, marriage increasing by 43%, and divorce decreasing by 22.5% between 2010 and 2017.

She also explains how the Hungarian government has persisted with its pro-family policies despite being demonized as “far-right.” The radicals are those who “believe that immigration should be the only path to choose,” Novak argues. “It’s not normal, for example, to compare family support to Nazism.”

“In my speech, I talked about a Europe that is slowly committing suicide. If we renounce our Christian culture and at the same time stop promoting the importance of the family and children and just accept anything that might happen to our continent, we are in practice sacrificing ourselves and committing suicide.

I presented the Hungarian model’s family-policy measures. The Hungarian government has been pursuing a strong family policy and the goal of being a family-friendly country since 2010. This seeks to achieve a turnaround in demographic trends by supporting legislation, financial incentives, assistance, services and a family-friendly mentality. We are also helping those who are already raising children as much as possible. Traditional strong families represent an asset which we intend to defend — not only in Hungary, but internationally, as well.”

“I wasn’t surprised (by the reaction of critics), as we’re used to the habits of the left-liberal media, NGOs and politicians that label everything not in line with their views as wrong, radical and far-right extremism. We’re not radicals — we simply want to strengthen families as much as we can, instead of prioritizing immigration.

In Central Europe, we not only understand the demographic crisis we face, but we also want to find our own solutions that address our young people who would like to have children. This is the difference between Central and Western Europe. Western political elites don’t want to dig deeper into the problems, and they choose the simplest path: mass immigration.

We believe that the demographic crisis can only be solved in the long run by relying on our own internal resources. We’ve asked Hungarians many times about how they imagine their future, who they want to live with, and how many children they want.”

Bbbbut, since Hungary’s marriage rate is increasing while its divorce rate and abortion rate is declining, this “pro-family” policy is a failure, according to the secular left.

You know what we need? More abortions so that aborted children can be replaced by illegal aliens and Muslims; more LGBTQs, more boys playing on high school girls’ softball and volleyball teams and white America to “get with the program” and have an illegitimacy rate equal to or higher than that of blacks.

Those Hungarians are Nazis!!! And racissst!!!

Most Sri Lanka bombers were well educated and came from wealthy families. So much for the idiotic bimbo Obama spokeswomen saying terrorists wouldn’t be terrorists if they had jobs:

The idiotic bimbo Obama spokeswoman who made that statement was Marie Harf. Do I need to tell you who her current employer is?

So, while Hungary is investing in its future, here is the US we are investing in schooling, healthcare, incarceration and other forms of welfare for illegal aliens.

50 years ago, who would have called the Hungarians’ plan of action “Nazism” and what the US and western Europe is doing as sane?

Apparently this is in city-controlled facilities – jails, schools, etc. and I presume ballparks. Think Mets’ fans will want mustard on their spinach dogs?

The Yankees have already banned Kate Smith. I wonder whose kids are dumber – Murdoch’s or Steinbrenners?

I had a friend – Connie Dierking – former NBA player who passed away a few years ago. He once played for the Cleveland Pipers, an ABA team owned by Steinbrenner, and one of his paychecks bounced.

Huh?? How the hell does not serving hotdogs ‘save the planet’? Not that I want to get all Upton Sinclair here…. The damage has been done, maybe, by the time one gets to the hotdog stage. Its like the porker has made it thru the slaughter house already. Hotdogs are made of the stuff humans would not find palatable as a hunk of something on the plate. So in reality the hotdog keeps that waste out of a controlled landfill.

My guess? Price of pork is going to double thanks to the asian swine flu ravaging pork herds in the south china sea region. So rather than hear customers complain that a hotdog is now $20 rather than the usual $10, they just eliminate it from the menu. Then they virtue signal about the ‘loss’. Sigh.

I am so tired of this sh$%.

It’s called virtur signalling. Al Gore, Prince Charles and Leonardo DiCapprio fight global warming as they live in mansions and fly around in private jets. DiBlzio fights global warming by having security riding in SUVs escort him to the gym every day.

And the city’s residents, like many liberals, seem to want to help only to a degree. For instance, angry residents have been recently packing public meetings to rally against Mayor London Breed’s new proposal for a homeless shelter on San Francisco’s waterfront, according to Bloomberg. The proposed center in the Embarcadero is a part of the mayor’s campaign to open 1,000 new shelter beds by the end of 2020. It’ll be put to a vote of commissioners on Tuesday.

The homes that surround the proposed shelter are pricey. A 3 bed, 3 bath condo sold nearby recently for about $2.5 million in February.

The monthly HOA dues are $1,200. After the plan was announced, opponents of it started a GoFundMe account to combat it, called “Safe Embarcadero for All.” A nasty battle ensued on social media between proponents and opponents on the project. The GoFundMe against it has raised $100,000 while the campaign for the shelter is at $175,000. The campaign for the project includes $25,000 from Twitter’s Jack Dorsey and $10,000 each from Salesforce founder Marc Benioff and Twilio chief executive Jeff Lawson.

This uproar marks the most recent example of the virtue-signaling struggle of the city, which is overwhelmed with tech wealth and is oh so very passionate about social justice. Or maybe it is all for show, as San Franciscans tend to be so very vocal when it comes to welcoming homeless people and migrants to American cities… just not their city.

Beyond the obvious this is a clear indicator that the TPTB want to put even their own kind down.

If you build it, they will come. There are reasons why San Francisco and Seattle are filled with homeless people.

But, it’s always great to see the left battling among themselves.

I saw a detective movie from 1950 San Francisco over the weekend and didn’t notice any tents or people pooping in the street. If no one was crapping in the streets in 1950, how did San Francisco get the way it is?

Like this thread is about – the old Eastern Block seems to be the only governments placing common sense over political correctness.

Regarding the SF homeless shelter, the local residents can do well even with less money.
I’ve read that the legal fees are steep but you can delay projects for substantial periods if you have a certain sufficient amount of money. In general, it’s tough for the developers to get traction.
The City doesn’t care about profit, or about losing alternate opportunities for the capital so maybe they’d keep going.

SUNLAND PARK, N.M., April 24 (Reuters) – The leader of an armed militia group that spent the past two months detaining migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border has been hospitalized after he was attacked in the prison where he was awaiting trial on federal firearms charges, his attorney said.
Larry Hopkins, 69, was in hospital with broken ribs after being attacked on Tuesday at the Dona Ana County Detention Center in Las Cruces, in southern New Mexico, attorney Kelly O’Connell said.
