What Is “Hate Speech?”

Every once in a while someone in the media lets their guard slip and actually says what they are thinking and telegraphs the left’s game plan.

CNN’s Christiane Ananpour had such a moment this past week:

CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour asked former FBI director James Comey on Tuesday if he should’ve restricted people from saying “lock her up” because the phrase amounts to “hate speech.”Comey asserted during the interview that President Donald Trump targets private citizens with investigations and the power of the executive, citing Trump “calling for the locking up of his political opponents, including people like me.”

Amanpour seized on Comey’s use of the phrase “locking up,” and wondered if the FBI should censor the use of “lock her up” in reference to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“Of course, ‘lock her up’ was a feature of the 2016 Trump campaign,” Amanpour said. “Do you in retrospect wish that people like yourself, the FBI, I mean, the people in charge of law and order, had shut down that language — that it was dangerous potentially, that it could’ve created violence, that it’s kind of hate speech. Should that have been allowed?”Comey explained the First Amendment to Amanpour, replying, “That’s not the role for government to play. The beauty of this country is people can say what they want, even if it’s misleading and it’s demagoguery.”

It’s a sad state of affairs when James Comey (of all people) has to set Amanpour straight.

The left believes in censorship of anything that runs counter to it’s beliefs. We see it constantly with Facebook, Twitter and other forms of social media. To the left “hate speech” is anything it disagrees with and, according to Amanpour, the FBI should arrest (or at least stop) anyone who disagrees with/violates its dictates. Amanpour would have no problem with anyone yelling “Lock Him Up” at Donald Trump, after all wasn’t that what Russiagate was all about?

Yet, Amanpour and others in the media have no problem with actual hate speech coming from Linda Sarsour, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar.

The thing Amanpour and others refuse to realize is that the First Amendment applies to all Americans, not just the media.

You can bet the Missing Link (aka Brian Stelter) and the rest of the media will be circling the wagons around Amanpour.

Some days it’s the action, not the speech, that you have to worry about.
    Noted at JustOneMinute blog:
“Horror as man in his 40s is ‘hacked to death in a machete attack’ in broad daylight in front of shocked shoppers on northwest London street in the capital’s 33rd murder of the year”
But thank God they have strong gun laws!
NOTE: 33rd murder of year … and it’s only April 3rd!

And while we’re discussing who was that Dem dirty tricks guy … met with Obama many times … I think hubby of Dem Congresslady …?
Didn’t he send thugs into Trump rallies to stir things up and provoke trouble? I read an account by a black cop who attended out of curiosity and was appalled at people shouting obscenities in front of families with kids at a rally.

Hate speech is in the eye of the beholder. That said there is an easy test — Did the speech precede the perp killing the person? That is my limited definition. At that it is a pretty moot point as the higher crime is the murder itself.

Two years and two months late but better than never …

    from a JustOneMinute blog commenter:

Senate kills 30 cloture debate. Now 2 hours per appointee.
    Mitch got mad.

By a tally of 48-51, the #Senate has over-ruled the ruling of the chair that post cloture debate on certain nominees is 30 hours.
Sens Collins & Lee voted in favor; Sen Harris was absent.
The #Senate is now in post cloture debate on the Kessler nomination for up to 2 hours.

What is interesting is that you can if you wish retro out of it. Most of the services one has can still be paid for with a stamp and envelope. Nobody really NEEDS the internet but it does make many things much much easier to accomplish.

Some of you viewed “Seattle Is Dying,” the one-hour special produced by a local Seattle TV newsman. Now the elites are attempting to disbarrage the documentary by calling it – you guessed – hateful.

The city’s nonprofit and academic partners—mainstays of the homeless-industrial complex—have also launched coordinated attacks against the critics. Timothy Harris, director of Real Change News, has argued that grassroots neighborhood groups like Speak Out Seattle and labor unions like the Iron Workers Local 86 who opposed the city’s head tax are “alt-right” white supremacists, bigots, and fascists. Catherine Hinrichsen, director of the Project on Family Homelessness at Seattle University, accused Johnson of “hate-mongering” and spreading “fear.”

Golly gee…turns out the ONLY elections that are “legitimate” and thus allowed to have “consequences” are the ones that DEMOCRATS WIN. Again, golly gee.
