Only Democrats Trust the Media

Here’s a real news item that won’t receive any coverage on CNN or the rest of the media. The results of the Gallup annual Media Trust Survey are in. 41% of Americans trust the media. Only 13% have a great deal of trust in the media. If you are shocked that it’s that high, let me explain.

The results of the survey have been driven by a huge jump in the percentage of Democrats who say they trust the media, or rather they approve of the media’s constant attacks on the President, Republicans and conservatives.

The graph below indicates several interesting trends:

  • Democrats have always trusted the media more than independents and Republicans (for good reason)
  • In the 1990s, these was a relatively small difference in trust levels. In 2000 Democrats and independents stood at 53%. Republicans were at 46%
  • As the media became more openly biased (some would say dishonest), the gap between Democrats and independents increased significantly
  • When Donald Trump became president, Democrats’ trust (approval might be a far better word) reached record highs while Republicans are at all-time lows
  • There’s currently a 54 point difference between Republicans and Democrats

Line graph. Percentages of Americans who have a “great deal” or “fair amount” of trust in the mass media since 1997, by party ID.

Is this any different from Yankees fans trusting/approving of an umpire who always favors the Yankees?

Only slightly over 1/3 of independents trust the media. You would think that would be a major concern, but it obviously isn’t.

LAPD buys a set of Google-ads and some of them run on Breitbart. This is a huge issue for some! Yet it would never bother them to have ads run on biased WaPo, NYT or CNN.
Breitbart posts stories that back their agenda and viewpoint. This is different from the MSM how?

According to a poll taken last year, CNN’s trust level is about 10 points below the “alphabet networks.”

I assume, as do millions, that the “news” is either made up, distorted, or only the small piece of the story they think helps their Leftist narratives.

Thus I (and millions), read NYTimes, WaPo (et al) headlines and immediately wonder: “Gee, I wonder what REALLY happened

Oh hell that is easy! Skip the headline and dive to the last two graphs of the story. NYT goes something like this:

    2/The Victims Story
3/The Reason its White Supremacy fault.
4/The Legal Cure for DC to fix.
    5/The Truth

And sometimes they omit 5 altogether. If they do, that is an important issue that will brook no argument.

drdog, 9, yes the only way their narrative works is if no one looks closely or questions anything.
It’s like Europe is only sustainable if the US protects it militarily and they can use restrictions to protect their economy
