Was the Fix in for Biden Sunday Night?

2020 March 16
by bc3b

People who viewed Sunday night’s debate (I didn’t) were questioning whether the fix was in for Biden. Biden was relatively gaffe-free and didn’t show his usual nervousness Some conservative viewers (on other blogs who did watch) said that “it was almost like he knew the questions beforehand and was prepared with scripted answers.”

After all, the debate was moderated by CNN and CNN does have a history of supplying DNC-favored candidates with debate questions in advance. As they say, history does repeat itself.

But, enough speculation. Let’s see what “Slow Joe” actually said as he continues to veer sharply left. From dailywire.com.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden made extreme remarks during CNN’s presidential debate on Sunday night, suggesting that he would end the oil industry’s ability to drill, would ban new fracking projects, and would take millions of cars off the road.

“No more subsidies for fossil fuel industry, no more drilling on federal lands, no more drilling including offshore, no ability for the oil industry to continue to drill,” Biden said. “Period. Ends.”

“No new fracking and, by the way, on the Recovery Act, I was able to make sure we invested $90 billion in making sure we brought down the price of solar and wind that is lower than the price of coal, that’s why not another new coal plant will be built,” Biden continued.

“We in fact have the ability to lay down the tracks where no one can change, change the dynamic, and that’s why we should be talking about things like I’ve been talking about for years: high speed rail, taking millions of automobiles off the road.”

Biden has embraced far-left positions championed by socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), praising her “Green New Deal,” which includes a government takeover of some private industries.

The Washington Post reported in June:

Joe Biden is embracing the framework of the Green New Deal in his bid for the White House, calling on the United States to eliminate climate-warming emissions by no later than the middle of the century while creating millions of new jobs and rallying the rest of the world to forestall dangerous rising temperatures.

To that end, Biden’s climate plan adopts the rhetoric — and at times, many of the actual policy proposals — of the Green New Deal resolution put forward this year by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), which calls on the nation to eliminate its carbon footprint by 2030.

During a debate in December, Biden  indicated that he was willing to cut hundreds of thousands of oil and natural gas jobs.

“The answer is yes,” Biden said. “We should, in fact, be making sure right now that every new building built is energy contained, that it doesn’t leak energy, that in fact we should be providing tax credits for people to be able to make their homes turn to solar power. They’re all kinds of folks — right here in California, we’re now on the verge of having batteries that are about the size of the top of this podium that you can store energy when in fact the wind isn’t blowing and the sun isn’t shining. We have enormous opportunities.”

On the issues as a whole, The Daily Wire reported: “Although Biden now presents himself as a moderate, centrist figure, the totality of his political career, overall, suggests that he is a firm leftist. Biden has dabbled at times in moderation, including previous support for tough-on-crime legislation and his longstanding stance that he is “personally pro-life” despite his support of legalized abortion. However, he has long been a progressive on legal issues, economic issues, and foreign policy issues, and even preempted President Obama’s “evolution” when, in 2012, he confirmed that he was “absolutely comfortable” with same-sex marriage.”

One item the Daily Wire didn’t mention was Biden’s statements on illegal aliens:

Joe Biden committed to halting deportations of nearly all immigrants in the country illegally. The former vice president said Sunday at the Democratic debate that he would place a moratorium on deportations in the first 100 days of his administration and then would only look to deport people convicted of felonies.

It’s about uniting families,” he said. It’s about making sure we can both be a nation of immigrants as well as a nation that’s decent.

Biden has faced criticism over the 3 million people deported during the Obama administration.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders had previously agreed to put a stop to deportations “until a thorough audit of current and past practices and policies is complete,” his website states.

So we are all one big prison camp now for our “safety”? Insane

This idiotic “if it saves one life it’s worth it” mantra is nuts…..

Guess what, 400 people die everyday driving…..

Should we tear up every road in America and destroy every life because “it’s worth it to save one life” (and yes, I do know their are Statist that would actually say yes to this)?

Any mention when the inmates are going to be let out of prision?

What consitutes it’s “okay” to go out again?

Funny how no objective criteria is being set for that by our new Lords and Kings….

Just vauge talk about weeks and now even months……madness

An interesting analysis of the infection rate on the cruise ship.
I guess what our fascist gov’ts are worried about is not so much “how many cases”, but “how many cases will require hospitalization?” and “what will be the death rate?”
Plus maybe a little of “how many cases, how fast?”. They’re basically worried about overwhelming the medical system. And being dinged if too many die.

“The Diamond Princess was the worst case scenario, according to Levitt. “If you compare the ship to a country—we are talking 250,000 people crowded into one square kilometer, which is horribly crowded. It is four times the crowding in Hong Kong. It is as if the entire Isaeli population was crammed into 30 square kilometers.” Furthermore, he said, the ship had a central air conditioning and heating system and a communal dining room. “Those are extremely comfortable conditions for the virus and still, only 20% were infected. It is a lot, but pretty similar to the infection rate of the common flu.””

The last non-insane, non-totalitarian politican left in America:

“”Go to the grocery stores. For crying out loud, go to the grocery stores. If you want to go to Bob Evans and eat, go to Bob Evans and eat,” he said Monday. “If we get to the point in time where we’ve got to close the grocery stores and drive a truck around and whatever and bring groceries to people and everything, we’ll do that.”

He added, “But, today, don’t have a mad rush on trying to buy all the toilet paper in the store.”

Justice noted that he had declared an emergency in the state despite no positive results out of the 80 coronavirus tests that had been completed. He admitted that the state likely has some infected people who have just not shown symptoms or been tested but maintained that most do not need to change their lives drastically.

“We can’t stop living,” the governor said. “We can’t stop living at this point in time.””

So, that quote above is from a comment stream at TheNewNeo.com blog.
The fellow Levitt is a Stanford prof and Nobel winner.

Other commenters add info so the take-away is:
    1) in an environment that favored the virus, 20% were infected (remember that the ship did not practice any great hygiene either)

    2) the passengers were, on balance, older than a normal population

    3) the death rate (at the time 6, now is 7) is well under 1% for the entire number of people and still a bit under 1% for the infected people.

#9 Given that the facts don’t square up with the Martial Law being imposed, so are we to just bend over and take it up the a$$ from our new Comisars?

Can any one be bothered even to ask what is the criteria for lifting medical martial law?

So any minor local offical can now effectively declare martial law for any reason they decided thus pissing on what’s left of the U.S. Constitution?

I know Governor Justice and he is a very good man. I worked for him for eight months. He loves West Virginia and its people, and wants the best for them. He and President Trump are a lot alike in that regard. Neither of them are in politics for the power, but to give back for the blessings given them.

1 – Watched some clips, yes fix was in, but also Bernie’s heart clearly isn’t in this, I’m not sure it ever was, but it’s definitely not now, and how many of his supporters haven’t caught on to that is beyond me at this point.

Don’t screw with the guy, he has a way to think so far outside of the box than most Pols he can be dangerous if he wants to be. That can be a good thing in the right hands.

My question is this: Is there anybody challenging any of this in the courts on Constitutional grounds? Or even asking the Consitutional questions?

I have seen exactly zero legal analysis of this even from Conservatives or Libertarians

What is scaring the principals involved — scale and resource failure. If this flu variant were to follow normal patterns there are not enough of everything to handle all the cases. Triage would be in effect and nobody knows what the degrade rate will be on the medical personnel. Consequence is the bodies pile up. The virus did not kill them, the lack of care did.

Oh, and it is quickly being discovered that CoVid is not just a Boomer eradication program.

“We are in the midst of something that could have seemingly only been written in a science fiction novel, but is now reality. A so-called virus that has reportedly been responsible for a few thousand deaths, has allowed a small number of politicians to take over most of the globe.

Entire countries are shutting down, and implementing different forms of martial law. Travel bans are now becoming universal, and the ruling class is demanding total isolation among entire populations.

At the current time, this is called self-isolation, which would obviously be a voluntary behavior. The reality is that anyone that is told to self-isolate and does not do so, is forced at gunpoint to comply.”

Keep in mind that many states still have medical necessity statutes from the 1920-30’s as a result of the TB scare of the period.

“This flu-like virus will soon end in my opinion, but the massive economic chaos created out of this structured pandemic will linger for many years.

Actually, this could change the entire world economic outlook, and due to measures implemented without thought or caring, could destroy many families, and bring much more poverty, famine, and death than any virus ever could have achieved.”

That’s the bottomline: this is real tyranny that will bring in a lot more death then it prevents

I have a different view. This virus may in fact after the smoke clears be a fundamental moment like the discovery of America by Columbus.

    * American cities will slowly empty out. Democratic stangleholds won’t matter by the time the 2040 census rolls around. People will be scared to live in high density areas.

    * The globalists lose big time after this. Do you seriously think Pharma will be shipped out of china after this? I think not.

    * Commercial real estate has peaked. Right now, more business is being conducted by Internet than face to face. Not talking retail, but the B2B big ticket deals. Businesses are shutting down visitation by strangers and business associates. It will finally dawn on the Csuite types that slapping flesh is a wasteful way to do business. Block chain is accelerating this.

    * Media any of it that can’t be delivered on-demand is dead. Fox news? Gone in a decade, which means the rest will be gone even sooner. The meme has replaced the sound bite.

An excellent article on the nature of the CoVid problem — https://thereader.mitpress.mit.edu/flattening-the-coronavirus-curve-is-not-enough/

I just don’t agree with the solution for one reason — it won’t work. The government can order up 100,000 respirators. Great, but who is going to man them. Currently at best a single RN can monitor 4 patients on the machines. You can’t ramp up medical personnel fast enough.

“People should ask themselves whether this coronavirus “pandemic” could be a big hoax, with the actual danger of the disease massively exaggerated by those who seek to profit – financially or politically – from the ensuing panic.

That is not to say the disease is harmless. Without question people will die from coronavirus. Those in vulnerable categories should take precautions to limit their risk of exposure. But we have seen this movie before. Government over-hypes a threat as an excuse to grab more of our freedoms.

When the “threat” is over, however, they never give us our freedoms back.”
