“Cuomo Killed my Mom”

Giant 'Cuomo killed my mom' sign erected on bridge as heartbroken ...

Did this homemade banner shame New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo into reversing his disastrous and deadly nursing home  policy?

New York, New Jersey and Michigan have a lot in common these days. They are among the states with the highest confirmed COVID-19 cases and the highest rate of deaths per million residents. All three states have despotic, Democratic tyrants for governors who have badly mismanaged the pandemic. All three have instituted policies that have required nursing homes to accept seniors even if they were COVID-19 positive, resulting in thousands of unnecessary deaths.

What’s worse is that all three governors had options, so the death of thousands of seniors was avoidable.

New York could have sent these COVID-19 positive patients to the Javitz Center or the hospital ship Comfort, which have been less than 20% capacity. In fact, the Comfort was so under-utilized that it headed back to its home port of Norfolk. Surely  New Jersey COVID-19 positive seniors could have been treated aboard the Comfort. Two large field hospitals were set-up in the Detroit area at the TCF Center in downtown Detroit and the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Both were hardly used and and the one at the TCF Center has been “paused.”

For his part, Cuomo claimed to know little about the order that rest homes were required accept COVID-19 patients, even though he is known as a “hands-on” governor. Cuomo announced the end of dumping COVID-19 patients on nursing homes this weekend.

Notice the New York state policy described by the New York Post:

The new Health Department info released late Monday adds 1,700 presumed coronavirus deaths to the grim total, suggesting that COVID-19 complications have killed 4,813 residents of nursing homes and adult-care facilities — and that doesn’t include those who died in hospitals.

Cuomo downplayed the count Tuesday: “I would take all of these numbers now with a grain of salt,” since “what does a ‘presumed death’ mean, right?”

So why on earth did his health commissioner, Howard Zucker, force nursing homes to take in virus-positive patients starting March 25?

The Post contrasted New York’s policies with those of Florida:

No Sunshine State patient can be discharged from a hospital into a nursing home without a negative test result. Florida hospitals had already refused to send coronavirus-positive patients back; the new rule means even those who show no symptoms must be tested and confirmed negative.

A defensive Cuomo on Tuesday claimed the state had done “everything you can” to keep the coronavirus from spreading among New York’s seniors. But that’s just not true.

From National Review:

Right now, a lot of people really want to believe that as bad as the coronavirus outbreak is, the consequences have been mitigated by good decisions made by governors like Gavin Newsom, J. D. Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, Tom Wolf, Phil Murphy, and Andrew Cuomo. But those governors, whatever their other strengths, all presided over state governments that served their nursing homes and assisted living facilities poorly — either through an inability to provide protective equipment (Illinois), insufficient attention (Pennsylvania), or by sending recovering but still contagious patients back into buildings with lots of other vulnerable elderly (California, Michigan, New Jersey, and New York).

The national media have paid copious amounts of attention to the risk of spreading the coronavirus in places like the beaches of Florida and the reopening of businesses in Georgia. A refocus of the national media’s attention and criticism upon the nursing homes in states like California, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York is long overdue. A lot of people have relished accusing the anti-lockdown protesters of “killing grandma.” It is time we took a more serious look at what lawmakers’ decisions led most directly to the deaths of so many grandmothers and grandfathers.

For government, old folks are viewed as a net negative. So Cuomo does not give a damn.

Obama Freed General Who Actually Lied to the FBI

Obama is all upset that his frame-up of General Michael Flynn fell apart. He is all whee-whee’d up about it.

He told his sycophants in a not-so-secret online meeting, “There is no precedent that anybody can find for somebody who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free.”

A reader sent me the clip of a January 17, 2017, New York Times story, “Obama Pardons James Cartwright, General Who Lied to F.B.I. in Leak Case.”

(I do not link pay sites.)

The story said, “President Obama on Tuesday pardoned James E. Cartwright, a retired Marine Corps general and former vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who pleaded guilty to lying to the F.B.I. about his discussions with reporters about Iran’s nuclear program, saving him from a possible prison sentence.

“General Cartwright, who was a key member of Mr. Obama’s national security team in his first term and earned a reputation as the president’s favorite general, pleaded guilty late last year to misleading investigators looking into the leaking of classified information about cyberattacks against Iran.

“He was due to be sentenced this month. His defense team had asked for a year of probation and 600 hours of community service, but prosecutors had asked the judge overseeing his case to send him to prison for two years.

“Now, the retired general will be spared such punishment.”

    So once again, Obama lies.

The media knows this and fails to inform the public.

Surely, Charlie Savage, who wrote the Times story, remembers.

While the media is going on non-stop about the black man in Georgia, it is totally silent about the fact that the white elderly couple murdered in a Delaware cemetery were killed by a black man:

12, funny how the death of one black guy is a national issue that needs to be examined in detail … not just in a local court.
But a nationwide pattern of dictatorial Dem Govs who do a rotten job of protecting the vulnerable?

Sixteen of the 20 new deaths occurred among residents of long-term care facilities, bringing the total of LTC deaths attributed to the virus to 464 and keeping the the share of all such deaths at slightly in excess of 80 percent.

For Californians, consider signing this petition.
    Various links available at InstaPundit.

    Gail Heriot:
California’s deep-blue legislature is trying to engineer the repeal of Proposition 209. This is a real threat.

If you were around in 1996, you may recall 209. It was the explosively controversial California voter initiative that amended the state constitution to read: “The state shall not discriminate against, or grant preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis or race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting.”

I co-chaired the campaign back in 1996. It is important to me. It hasn’t always been complied with, but it still packs a significant punch. That’s why the legislature wants to repeal it (though to do so they must put it to another vote).

Please, if you can, sign this petition. It already has over 24,000 signatures, but it’s going to need a lot more to get attention from our esteemed legislators.

With a little luck, I will have an op-ed coming out soon on this topic. I will also be blogging on it (a lot!) over the next few weeks. (If you are interested in reading about some of the good Proposition 209 has done, read this.)

    Good News from Georgia

Georgia was among the first states to re-open everything (including hair and nail salons and barber shops) about two weeks ago.

New cases were down 20% so re-opening full bore seems to have little, if any, negative impact.

Probably even higher. Some states (eg NY) are shoving ‘cured’ patients into nursing homes for post op care. But doesn’t that make the % even higher? In the aggregate yes. But I bet if you broke it down by age group it masks the impact that the virus has on older patients.

If the NSA flags were never raised; and if Director Rogers had never initiated the compliance audit; and if the political contractors were never blocked from access to the database; they would never have needed to create a legal back-door, a justification to retain the surveillance. The political operatives/contractors would have just continued the targeted metadata exploitation.

Once they created the surveillance door, Fusion-GPS was then needed to get the FBI known commodity of Chris Steele activated as a pipeline. Into that pipeline all system users pushed opposition research. However, one mistake from the NSA database extraction during an “about” query shows up as a New Yorker named Michael Cohen in Prague.

There is a key point to the bolded section. Turning off the accounts means you know WHO was doing the searches as most computer systems for security reasons keep profiles on the physical user to the meta user the account represents. So the question begs, when admiral Rodgers had the accounts turned off, he knew THEN at a minimum the responsible parties to the searches. So where is THAT list? It might have some surprising names on it.

On the horns of a dilemma we do reside,
Choosing the bunghole or the arm pit we must decide,
The republic is crumbling it’s plain to see,
There are too few options for thee or me,
Is it too late to right this sinking ship,
Of the choices we have,I would prefer a harelip.

What is occurring today is nothing unique,
History is replete with scenarios as bleak,
Victory or defeat is within our grasp,
Rest assured it will be our very last gasp,
For once the chains of dependency are forged,
The collectivist state is seldom disgorged.

For once suckling upon the nipple of security,
The concept of individualism slips into obscurity,
The Pavlovian mutts have been taught to slobber,
The boiling frogs float like a bobber,
Upon the tree of tyranny we must piss,
Or live forever in a state of mindless bliss.

of all the “un-maskers” the one that pisses me off the most is Samantha Power. The air-head UN Ambassador did a massive amount of “un-masking” that we already know of, and then lied about it.

She had absolutely NO reason to “un-mask” anyone anyway!
