Let the Show Trials Begin

Cultural Revolution – Iconic Photos

Oops … looks like they are already well underway.

Much like the cultural revolution of the 1960s and 1970s in China, Americans are lining up to confess their past and present sins as the BLM  leadership and Antifa look on approvingly.

In sports it’s been everyone from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to Cubs General Manager Theo Epstein.

But, that’s not enough. Iowa football player Kaevon Merriweather tweeted that fans must not only support the team on the field, but also its black players’ social philosophy.

“If you can not support us right now with this movement and with our team taking a knee during the national anthem, DO NOT support us during the football season. DO NOT watch our games on tv. DO NOT come up to us when you want photos. DO NOT ask us to give your kids autographs. DON’T COME TO US EXPECTING US TO DO FOR YOU WHEN YOU CAN’T SUPPORT THE BLACK ATHLETES ON THIS TEAM AND THE DECISIONS WE MADE AS A TEAM. I would rather play in front of 1,000 fans who care about us as people outside of football and what we are standing for, than 70,000 fans who only care about us when we are in uniform and on the field entertaining them.”

That’s big talk from a bench-riding defensive back who has had 3 solo tackles and 3 assisted tackles in two seasons. Merriweather only makes or assists in a tackle in every fourth Hawkeyes’ game. Don’t think too many kids want his autograph. Iowa Coach Kirk Ferentz likely wishes he didn’t waste a football scholarship on Merriweather.

Anyone who doesn’t agree, like Drew Brees, is quickly silenced. Brees and his wife were forced to publicly recant, just like people in China’s show trials. The only thing missing is the picture of Chairman Mao. There are likely players on the Iowa team who disagree with Merriweather, but they won’t speak out for fear of being placed on public trial as racist.

More than 270 major corporations have already capitulated. See post #3.

In Cary, NC the police publicly washed the feet of black officials and ministers.

But, nowhere are people being forced to recant fr their sins and resign their posts like the media:

  • New York Times editorial editor James Bennett resigned for running an op-ed by Senator Tom Cotton, denouncing the riots
  • Philadelphia Inquirer’s top editor Stan Wischnowski , a veteran of 20 years, resigned over a headline “Buildings Matter too.”
  • Variety’s editor-in-chief Claudia Eller has been placed on administrative leave after a Twitter dispute with a South Asian writer. “As editor-in-chief of Variety I have tried to diversify our newsroom over the past 7 years, but I HAVE NOT DONE ENOUGH,” Eller wrote according to the NY Post. The South Asian writer felt the apology wasn’t good enough, which led to a Twitter battle
  • Bon Appeiit Rapoport resigned after a resurfaced photograph with his wife from Halloween 2004 resurfaced that staffers condemned as stereotypically depicting Puerto Ricans. Maybe  Rapoport should consider a career as a Democratic governor in Virginia
  • The fifth notable resignation occurred at Refinery29, an entertainment website focusing on young women. Editor-in-chief Christene Barberich resigned Monday following negative social media reports from staffers. Many described various discrimination they said occurred at the company, which is owned by Vice, the NYT reported.

Washington joins Oregon, Kalifornia, Illinois, Michigan, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey in the nation’s worst governor competition. What do all these states’ governors have in common?

How the Chinese cultural revolution began. Some of this sounds familiar …

During this early stage of the Cultural Revolution, they were very disproportionately the sons and daughters of privileged party members. (Surprised? I suspect not.)

Red Guard students also tended to be the beneficiaries of preferential treatment in admissions. All during the 1950s and 1960s, the children of party members and at least in theory the children of peasants and workers received a kind of “affirmative action” in admission both to elite schools and to colleges and universities. Frequently a revolutionary pedigree was a more important credential than a good academic record. Early on, a popular meme (if not exactly a Shakespearean couplet) was “If the father is a hero [of the Revolution], the son is a good fellow; if the father is a reactionary, the son is a good-for-nothing—it is basically like this.”

Like students who receive preferential treatment here in the USA—diversity students, legacy students, and athletes—on average the Chinese recipients of preferential treatment got poorer grades than other students. Mao is reported to have acknowledged this: “The political performance of the children of revolutionary cadres in schools can only be rated as second-class, but students with bad family backgrounds [i.e. the children of alleged capitalists, landlords, rich peasants, and counter-revolutionaries] have performed very well. However, no matter how well they have performed, revolutionary tasks cannot be put on their shoulders.”

Perversely, a group that has been given preferential treatment may come to believe, against all evidence, that the system is rigged against them, when in fact the problem is that the system was rigged in their favor.

In China, the myth that the “Born-Reds” (as they sometimes called themselves) had been mistreated by the educational system prior to the Cultural Revolution was a strong one. “We Born-Reds gasped for breath under the suppression of the cow ghosts and snake demons [i.e. the teachers and school administrators], and bourgeois bastards [i.e. children with “bad” family backgrounds] in schools,” wrote several of the Red Guard crybullies. In fact, in the years leading up to Red August, school administrators were often far too inclined to indulge the “Born-Reds,” in part out of fear of their political clout.

    Hugely important thread & topic…..

What is going now with LMAOist is not mere “election year” politics

First they seek to turn the police, one of the few institutions they haven’t totally corrupted and dominate, into yet another bastion of leftist ideology and power

They don’t so much what to “defund the police” but destroy policing that is behavioral based (i.e. real crime traditionally has a human victim that has suffered loss to life, liberty or property) with a political “thought police” so that they can go on right at any resisters to their ideology with brute force and the color of government sanction on their side

Second, yes this is very much the a communist “cultural revolution” we are seeing

Post #4 hits the nail right on the head….

We have running wild in our streets basically “basement kids” who Mommy & Daddy (if they had one in the home at all, another huge problem government leftists created) never said “NO” to throwing a violent temper tamtrum because they aren’t getting their way

There are no adults with the guts left to tell them NO…….look what happened to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey who is with them on 99.9% of their radical agenda…….he said NO to defunding the police and the MOB gave him the cultural revolution treatment

brought this over from the last thread

    Cultural Revolution…Part II

From 1966 until 1976 China underwent what they referred to as the “Cultural Revolution.
Some 1.5 million people were killed during the Cultural Revolution, and millions of others suffered imprisonment, seizure of property, torture or general humiliation.

Mao’s plan was to agitate the youth of China into a “religious” zeal (though, of course, actual religion was banned) and harness their energy and LACK of knowledge of history into sweeping everything away from the “Old” China.

His plan worked. Young people in military uniforms and red armbands dragged their teachers and their neighbors into the streets and publicly beat and humiliated them in an attempt to eradicate the country of “traitors to the party”.

Ancient temples were smashed and previously sacred relics destroyed in order to bring China into a new age free of “old ideas.”

And then there were the “struggle sessions”.

The people of China were urged to get rid of every bourgeoisie in their midst including scholars, traditionalists, or educators. People were accused by their neighbors of counter-revolutionary crimes and forced them to endure public humiliation or even death.

Victims would be forced to wear massive bamboo hats with their crimes written on them and drape big signs around their necks with the names crossed out with a red X. Before a jeering crowd, they would be forced to confess to their bourgeoisie crimes. If not, they would be beaten, sometimes to death.

Look at the pictures at the link, and simply substitute Antifa and BLM activists for those doing the destruction of China, and the humiliation of its citizens. Remember, NO actual crime needed to be proven…if fact it was rare for the Red Guards and other groups to even bother to try. You were ASSUMED guilty.

Cultural Revolution Part II is well underway.

#6 Decent minded people need to organize self-defense militas ASAP or be picked off one by one by the leftists mobs who are well-organized and well-funded:

When the local police are “reformed” there will be no check to preserve order

The ignorant Republicans in the Senate who are rushing to get the local police federalized with a “reform” bill will hasten the slaughter:

It is way overdue for decent people and red states to leave this mental construct called the “United States” – and form a new nation there is nothing sacred or permeant about any country and we certainly aren’t a homogeneous nation-state in any sense

If we try to stay and “fix” things, we will just be killed in the millions by those who know no check to their desires for power and have no decency

    WEC 7,

Separation is no cure all. Consider post #8. When companies cannot afford to operate in what are mostly Blue zones, they will leave.

Now put it thru the political Cuisinart. As the Blue economy falters and unemployment rises the Leftist leadership will pull out their tried and true solution — blame someone else. In this case the Red States. Variations of Bloody Kansas will erupt and in short order we are @ CWII.

As tensions rise it is a given either one side or the other must prevail. As to the Left being well organized? Just look at CHAZ in Seattle. They did not have the forethought to secure food supplies and now they have a warlord running the place. Somehow I don’t think that was in the plan….

And here’s a typical contact tracing plan (for Washington State). Check how intrusive it is.
You can forcibly be quarantined for 14 days based on the testimony of someone whose name you won’t be told.
Spouse and kids too, even if they are not infected.

Obama AG Loretta Lynch will investigate NYC cops.

As the DOJ moved to prosecute alleged rioters, New York state officials announced Wednesday that Loretta Lynch, who served as attorney general in President Obama’s administration from 2015 to 2017, will “help guide and support” authorities’ ongoing investigation into the NYPD’s interactions with the public in the wake of the Floyd protests.

“There is no greater responsibility of government than the protection of its citizens,” Lynch said in a statement

NextDoor has traditionally banned “soap boxing”–commentary on national issues or appeals to support political candidates.

    Not so much anymore …
A couple snips from a recent email to volunteer Leads

Furthermore, we need to provide you with better guidance on how to moderate discussions about tough topics. As with COVID-19, neighborhoods across the country are confronted with an issue, racial inequality, that is simultaneously a national issue and a very local and personal one. Neighbors want to discuss these topics, and we think it’s important that Nextdoor be a place where they can do so. To be clear, conversations related to racial inequality and black lives matter are allowed on Nextdoor. At the same time, it is vital that all conversations remain civil — regardless of the topic.

We need to ensure that all neighborhoods have Leads that bring perspectives that reflect the full diversity of the neighborhood.
