John Brown’s Raid 2.0?

2020 July 21
by drdog09

They say history seldom repeats but often rhymes to the new times in old clothing. Well the events that unfolded in Portland last night had a familiar ring to it.

Insurgents tore down the perimeter fence, set fires and engaged federal agents in attempting to break into the Federal Court House downtown. There was also looting of several stores in the general vicinity.

A JayHawker named John Brown did essentially the same thing, only he was successful in his break-in. Then as now it required the engagement of federal officials in the form of troops to quell the insurrection. Make no mistake, this is an insurrection, not some peaceful protest gone bad again. One does not do a protest at night; the lighting is poor for the camera crews you wish to impress. No this was an attempt to acquire the court house expecting that a skeleton crew of Feds would be inside.

I continue with the insurrection theme for another reason. The Democrats up and down the political chain are in on it. –

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) has soured at the federal government’s intervention, claiming that the involvement is “making the situation much more dangerous.”

He recently signed a letter with the mayors of Atlanta, Chicago, D.C., Seattle, and Kansas City against federal intervention in their cities.

“The President is attacking progressive cities with a classic ‘divide and conquer’ tactic,” Wheeler said.

“We must not fall prey to this. Nationwide, we must stand together for peace and for reform against those who would oppose it,” he added.

Both Durkan and Seattle City Council member Lisa Herbold suggested that the destruction will be material for President Donald Trump, who allowed for nameless federal troops to make arrests in Portland over the weekend.

Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday he welcomed the rage of protesters as long as they are peaceful, but he denounced unnamed groups of anarchists and others who used the demonstrations to tag graffiti on buildings, burn banks, shatter store windows and run off with armloads of goods.

“The looting, the violence, the threats against fellow human beings: That has no place in this state and in this nation,” Newsom said. “Those that want to express themselves and have: Thank you. God bless you. Keep doing it. Your rage is real, express it so that we can hear it, let’s not let others drown out that rage.”

here

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reminded President Donald Trump late Saturday that the United States is “not a banana republic,” and she refused to let protesters in Portland be used as “props” in his political games.

Pelosi joined several top Oregon lawmakers in criticizing Trump administration and top federal agencies for placing faceless “stormtroopers” in Portland to quell weeks of ongoing racial injustice protests. The Democratic House leader condemned the “one-sided violence” from Department of Homeland Security agents and accused the president of utilizing “secret police” in American streets.

here

The insurrection is supported by one party – Democrats. We have essentially 3 States sympathetic to a cause that is contra to the Federalist structure of the USA. This is supported by the mayors, governors and member of Congress to these States – California, Oregon, Washington.

John Brown was snuffed out but set history in motion. It appears we are reaching the same apex, only I don’t think we will be as lucky as our precursor when all is said and done.

I can only provide one bromide — The hour of choosing is upon all of us. One is either with the Nationalists or you are with the Maoist-Soros Mob. Neutrality I am afraid will not be an option this time around.

If CA somehow successfully secedes, they might be able to kick me out but I hope to take down some number of them first.
    Seems only fair.

I read that parts of Oregon are petitioning to join “Greater Idaho” and get out of the Portland metro dominated area.

We can only hope enough citizens wake up and deliver a crushing electoral defeat to the Dems in November. The Dem Party has gone all-in for ethnic cleansing.

    DR,

My point is that if the left deletes The Wizard of Oz, then pretty much all Disney movies are gone.

    And movie merch too

    3,

Eph, for the old classics you might be right. But keep in mind that ever since Eisner took over Disney they have been Woke long before Woke was a Thing. So I don’t think Disney has much to worry about. Nearly all their catalog of the last 30 years is likely Prog Approved, Rated PA.

But you can figure all the Walter Lantz catalog will end up in a memory hole. Woody Woodpecker, Chilly Willy, Wally Walrus to never be known by kids. Then of course there is the whole Looney Tunes catalog too. I mean Foghorn Leghorn is as anti-Prog as they come as a cartoon character.

Excellent post, drdog. (We’re traveling this week so I’m not seeing all the posts)

It is an extremely apt analogy, with possible exception of John Brown at least having a semblance of a cause (anti-slavery)…though his zealotry overrode it.

The anarchists and Socialists being lauded by the Democrat/media cabal have no cause other than the accumulation of POWER which they seek to wield against all of us.

Out here in the PRK we are already living under happy-face tyranny, the best current example being the increasingly oppressive anti-2nd Amendment “laws”. I will do a piece on this once we get back home, highlighting aa truly Gestapo-like set of mechanisms being put in place. Probably on Saturday.

Here an example of what is going on in the PRK

What’s wrong with this picture? The color photo at the link is the brand new facility just north of Reno on 395. The black & white photo is from decades ago when they actually DID check for agricultural products…it hasn’t existed for a long time. When it DID exist it was manned by personnel from the California agricultural dept. Now it is manned by the CHP, and they are checking to make sure Kalifornia residents don’t bring ammunition in from out of State. Stations like this are springing up on all major (and minor) access roads into the State. Once they have all the facilities in place then they will lock down these roads. They’re not asking about ammunition yet, just stopping vehicles for “random” checks that have shopped at places like Cabellas (just over the border on I-80) with California plates. And reports are that they DO have agents recording license plate numbers at those places. Again, they haven’t locked it down yet, but link posted above is to one of the new facilities erected for just that purpose.

    13,

Know what that says? The Cartels will start running guns as a cash business and not just a support function of their drug trade. Worse for Newsome, cuz if I be illegal for owning a gun I might as well go the gusto and buy an AK-47 full auto, crates of ammo, hell grenade launchers, etc.

BUT, consider if you substituted the word “Black” in the story. Would the ship hit the sand, or what?

US banks severing ties with black community.
Even though no laws are being broken by black customers.
Even though black customers are paying back on time.

    15,

Seems to me that banks are no different that bakers. Either both have the right to refuse service or they don’t. The bakers right now don’t so the same should be said for the bankers.

The RINOs in Congress need to step up and oppose stuff like bank discrimination.
    Oh well.

In the meanwhile, a report that Portland “Moms” is a scam.

I recognize a lot of the so-called “moms” as the same antifa women who dressed in black as recent as a couple days ago. They just put on a yellow shirt now for optics. Most of these people aren’t mothers & many don’t even identify as female. #PortlandRiots pic.twitter.com/UPffcao0fv

17 – I’m wondering why GOA or a group of sellers don’t take the opportunity to setup a small bank of their own for this and some other customers in similar situations? At some point (maybe it’s not there yet) it would seems like an opportunity. As for Baker\Banker it’s fair point, but who’s gonna fund that 5-10 year lawsuit?

18 – I wondered that (“how many are actually mothers”), so I’m not surprised at all by that tweet. As for Republicans doing anything useful on that front, don’t count on it.

If Gavin Nutcase was really interested in reducing guns in Kalifornia, he’d buy JR a huge boat (lots of huge boats) and lots of booze and invite gun owners on “three hour cruises.” That would reduce the number of guns faster than anything else.

Remember most banks operate under Federal charter. Maybe we should suggest to Trump that he threaten the banks with their loss of charter to do business if they continue down that line of thinking…..

THIS ISN’T NEWS IF YOU’VE BEEN TO A GUN SHOP LATELY: News: Skyrocketing Ammunition Demand.
