NFL Goes for Woke

2020 July 2
by bc3b

Reports are that the NFL will play the black national anthem before week 1 games this season. In addition it is considering a patch or helmet decal with the names of unarmed blacks killed by police  this season.

Remember a few years back when Roger Goodell stopped the Dallas Cowboys from wearing a helmet decal to honor the five lawmen murdered by the black extremist a few years back?

“Lift Ev’ry Voice And Sing,” traditionally known as the Black national anthem, is expected to be performed live or played before every Week 1 NFL game, and the league is considering a variety of other measures during the upcoming season to recognize victims of police brutality, a source familiar with the league’s discussions told The Undefeated on Thursday.

The song would be performed before “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the source said. The NFL’s season opener is scheduled for Sept. 10, with the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans.

Having recently displayed increased awareness about the problems of systemic racism, the NFL, in collaboration with the NFL Players Association, is also considering listing the names of victims on uniforms through decals on helmets or patches on jerseys. The NFL also may produce educational programs about victims, among other plans.

Early last month, commissioner Roger Goodell in a video admitted that the league had erred in how it handled peaceful NFL player protests of police brutality and systemic oppression. Goodell condemned racism and affirmed that Black lives matter, pledging his allegiance to the players in the battle for equal justice under the law.

Also in June, the league revealed plans to increase its social justice footprint by pledging to donate $250 million over a 10-year period.

The league hopes its efforts demonstrate “a genuine commitment to the public, players and coaches and that player voices continue to be heard,” the source wrote in a text message. “This is key to educating fans, and becoming a prominent voice in the fight to end racism.”

If Goodell really cared, wouldn’t he personally donate 50% of his obscene $40-million salary?

    4, that’s disappointing.
Cases are way up, but that’s expected and OK
Deaths are mostly down, which is also expected and great.

It’s the hospitalization number that allows the Swamp to claim they need to keep us in chains.
It’s hard to know: are people hospitalized WITH WuFlu, or hospitalized FROM WuFlu?
In some cases, I bet some hospitalized people get tested, are found to be infected and go into “Covid hospitalization” bucket of stats.
But if people are getting hospitalized with serious symptoms, even if they don’t die, it become hard to argue for reopening.

I’m sure this isn’t the end, not by a long shot. But here’s some analysis of the cases/deaths/hospitalization numbers.

Here’s some specific info about TX, which makes things sound … somewhat decent and normal.
“the MSM is reporting some problems – or rather, projected problems for the future – in Houston (the same article mentions that deaths are remaining low in Texas). What the article doesn’t mention, however – and I’m not the least bit surprised that it doesn’t – is that Houston hospitals are often overwhelmed and that even a flu season can fill them.

Here’s an article from January 2018, for example:
Big-city hospitals in Texas have been overwhelmed this week by an influx of flu patients, and state health officials say influenza activity is widespread across the state. At Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, waiting rooms turned into exam areas as a medical tent was built in order to deal with the surge of patients. A Houston doctor said local hospital beds were at capacity, telling flu sufferers they might be better off staying at home. Austin’s emergency rooms have also seen an influx of flu patients.
But high emergency room volumes and filled hospital beds are “not uncommon” for this point during flu season”

FL, AZ and CA are also discussed. For AZ and CA in particular a lot of the spike in numbers appears due to people fleeing overwhelmed hospitals in Mexico.

“Tucker said he got a call from the McCloskeys in St. Louis. The mob is threatening to show up at their home tonight. They called cops who apparently are busy doing other things. They call private security firms and they won’t help either. The last one told him to leave the home.

17 – Exactly what I thought when I heard that, gather some friends, arm up the posse along with some established roe, and be prepared to defend against what’s coming because nobody else will do it for you. In a fucked up way I hope the mob tries and I hope the mob gets gunned the fuck down should they enter the private property again. Course we all know what will be attempted after should McCloskeys survive, but better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

Gov’na. is a another weak POS for not already getting involved at some level, he and that known corrupt DA are actively stroking violence by inaction against the mobs.

    AZ fitness grows a spine.

#RESISTANCE: Arizona Gyms Reject Governor Doug Ducey’s Shutdown Order: Fitness centers across the state are turning up the resistance to lockdown orders.

The unwillingness of large segments of the fitness industry to close down again illustrates just how tired Americans are of seemingly endless lockdowns that have kept them inside and endangered their businesses. Many of these gym owners complained to the media that they’re adopting the same cleaning and social distancing protocols as businesses that are allowed to remain open.

It’s a sign that state officials are going to be increasingly hardpressed to force people back into their homes, regardless of the public health merits.
Pandemic fatigue has set in, and the public health people have beclowned themselves to the point that their credibility is lacking.

The Lincoln/Sanger dichotomy was recently used by the Babylon Bee as well LOL.

Sorry, this following comment is long. But I want to use it to set up my conclusion. Cut to the chase, my conclusion is:
WAVE ELECTION!!! (Eph and Eyore hardest hit)

Evidence (this comment I saw at another blog):

My dad sent me this. From the comments on Marginal Revolution, Tyler Cowen’s blog.

    A comment on Marginal Revolution:
I’ve been a MR reader for years. It sounds like you’re concerned about cancel culture and the associated political situation. I’m from eastern europe and caught the tail end of communism. What’s happening now in the US terrifies me. It seems like every week I learn that someone I respect is being tried in a court of public opinion for crimes that didn’t exist six months ago.

I’m in Silicon Valley, and realistically it’s impossible to operate here without lying. And I’m not right wing either, I’ve always considered myself a liberal! Some people seem to be dealing with it all right, but having to maintain a facade really eats at me. I effectively have to self-quarantine in a political closet. I hate it. I never could have imagined that I would need to choose between truthful expression and career/friendships in America. There’s always some finesse in human interaction of course, but this is so qualitatively different it may as well be another country altogether.

Do you have any advice for how to act, survive, and thrive in this political climate? I don’t know how to navigate this at all.

    (A reply to the above):
I never thought I would say this but vote Trump in November. I am an independent and been voting Democrat mostly the last decade and voted for Hilary plus Obama twice. But I cannot imagine how much worse it will get if the current Democrat group comes to power, especially if they get the Senate as well. I have never been a strong partisan, but in my 50 years I have never seen anything like this in terms of the complete shutdown of dissent of the prevailing “proper” narrative. People ducking for cover and living in fear of losing their jobs or having their lives ruined.

I really am not a Trump fan(although I do believe that there is too much TDS), but once he is voted out, I can see the left feeling even more vindicated and losing any remaining sense of self-restraint.

Again, I say this as someone who has been slightly left of center the last decade.

I heard a story about a polling firm that got correct predictions for 2016. Based on that anecdote, if you begin to talk to a stranger about politics and want to gauge where they stand:
“Don’t ask them who they intend to vote for.
Ask them who they think their neighbor is voting for.”

Eph and King Eyore hardest hit … here’s hoping those frown lines turn into smile dimples before this is over.
