Pro Sports Declare War on Fans

2020 July 22
by bc3b

Remember a few years back when the NFL denied the Cowboys permission to have a helmet decal in memory of the five law enforcement officers murdered by the black militant?

The Dallas Cowboys asked the NFL if the team could wear decals honoring the fallen members of the Dallas Police Department and the NFL, unsurprisingly, said no.

When training camp opened in Oxnard, Calif., earlier this offseason, the Cowboys unveiled “Arm in Arm” helmet decals, designed to pay tribute to the men who lost their lives during the downtown Dallas shooting in July, while also symbolically representing the Cowboys support of the community.

Naturally, the NFL won’t let them wear the decals during the regular season.

“Everyone has to be uniform with the league and the other 31 teams,” Jerry Jones said Wednesday. “We respect their decision.”

Fast forward to 2020:

The NFL’s 1,700-plus players will likely be invited to wear helmet decals bearing the names or initials of police violence victims and systemic racism, sources told Front Office Sports.

The league office is working with the NFL Players Association to compile a list of names in time for the start of the regular seasons, which is currently scheduled to begin on September 10, said sources. The players will provide the names.

However, these on-uniform tributes would likely only appear on helmets, not jerseys, as previously thought, said sources.

George Floyd, Breonna Taylor. Eric Garner, Michael Brown, and Tamir Rice are just some of the people who are expected to be mentioned on the individual tribute decals.

The decision to wear or not wear decals will be up to individual NFL players, according to Steve Wyche, senior correspondent for NFL Network. The tributes could range from African American victims of racism to police officers slain in the line of duty.

“You might have one team with 15 different decals,” noted Wyche.

The NFL is making a statement to the world: Black lives matter (if they are killed by cops); cops’ lives really don’t really matter. The NFL is throwing a bone to fans by including fallen police officers, not that many players will choose to honor them.

Now, other sports are following the NFL and NBA’s lead. NASCAR has banned Confederate flags and wearables and now Major League Baseball has gone totally woke.

Now for my favorite graphic:

Your Politics Are Hilariously Indicative Of Which Sports You Like ...

The NBA going along with Black Lives Matter actually makes financial sense. It’s fan base is comprised of leftist Democrats. But, the NFL, MLB and NASCAR?

Like NASCAR, MLB game attendance and TV viewership has been declining in recent years. The average cost to take a family of four to an MLB game last year was $234. For Charley/Charlene Lunchbucket who makes $20/hour after taxes and other deductions, that means he/she has to work a day and a half to watch millionaires play a child’s game and foist political views on the fans.

Protesting athletes are even worse than woke Hollywood personalities. They are pushing their views on you during their performance. Matt Damon may be a flaming a-hole but at least he isn’t pushing his views on movie goers at the start of a movie.

This year’s athletes protesting will make protest of the past seem mild by comparison. How long will it be before Charley/Charlene Lunchbucket decide take a knee on pampered millionaire athletes, some of whom make more for a single time at bat than they make in a year?

Hat tip: Dallas News.com, https://frntofficesport.com/ and forbes.com

The Boston Red Sox “take a knee.”

In 2019 the Detroit Tigers Designated Hitter Manny Cabrera was paid $30-million and had 493 at bats. That works out to $60,851 every time he stepped up to the plate – more than the average American makes in a year. Now these spoiled millionaires want to tell us what to think.

Manny hit ,282 with 15 HR and 58 RBI in 2019. $30-million doesn’t go far these days.

Being a nerd, I’ve been boycotting professional sports my whole life. I enjoy following SpaceX make our country a space-faring nation again much more than spoiled millionaires play kids games. However, I don’t begrudge anyone following sports for entertainment as long as they realize that’s all it is. To each his own, I always say.

Times have changed. In 1970 the MLB minimum was $12,000 and the average salary was just over $29,000 – perhaps double what the normal American made.

The balless boardrooms fear racial extortion/boycotts if they don’t go along with the scam. They forget that the other 70% of the population can also boycott. They forget that giving the simians a centimeter will only create demands for a kilometer. Systemic racial blackmail writ large.

There is some of that which the CEO is in on the BLM scam. But if the RedBull episode indicated anything it is that most of the C suite does not even know that they have the moles in the lower ranks doing this sh**. That is worse than being on the scam, as it shows disconnect and incompetence.

Of all the phenomena in this crazy world, the efforts of professional sports to turn off and turn away their fans is one of the strangest. One glance at the bubble chart in the post tells the tale. Of all major sports, only the NBA exists in a place that might survive fans walking away in droves.

Why the NBA? One reason might be that they truly don’t rely on average people attending their games, they rely on RICH people, and corporations. In the Bay Area, Warriors tickets were a perk that the big companies doled out as rewards…and probably still are. Cisco (one of the companies I worked for) bought huge blocks of season tickets to do just that. The NBA plays so many games that even 2/3 full arenas is good enough to fill in the financial blanks.

But most NFL teams need 40,000 plus at each game, or they will “starve”…even with TV. And those fans are being driven away each day.

Frankly I won’t watch ANY pro sports ever again…and there are millions like me.

There are always lower division leagues for most sports one could attend. Here is an interesting thought experiment — Coverage of say minor league ball play on the internet as a sports package. How many people would sign up for that and throw away the high end sports packages? Minor league ball is alot more fun.

We have channels here in Texas that cover the HS games once they reach the quarter finals.

You ready for this?? — https://www.zerohedge.com/political/patricia-mccloskey-pistol-was-non-operable-prop-so-prosecutors-office-ordered-it — The gun that mrs. mccloskey was brandishing was incapable of firing at the time that the event occured.

But it gets worse. The DA altered evidence.

In Missouri, police and prosecutors must prove that a weapon is “readily” capable of lethal use when it is used in the type of crime with which the McCloskeys have been charged.

Assistant Circuit Attorney Chris Hinckley ordered crime lab staff members to field strip the handgun and found it had been assembled incorrectly. Specifically, the firing pin spring was put in front of the firing pin, which was backward, and made the gun incapable of firing, according to documents obtained by 5 On Your Side. Firearms experts then put the gun back together in the correct order and test-fired it, finding that it worked, according to the documents.

People in deep blue states are sometimes fearful.
Some put out an American flag as a proxy to show support for traditional values.
The Betsy Ross flag (13 stars in a circle) is in widespread use, too.
This is new to me though, saw a discussion on the JustOneMinute blog.

The Appeal to Heaven flag doesn’t always have the writing, and there are different styles of pine tree image, always green and triangular though.
Now I’ll be looking for it.

Interesting story. About 30 years ago we lived in Chicago but were visiting the Cincinnati area for a wedding. Friday night some relatives took us to a Giants-Reds game. We were walking down the aisle and Marge Schott is passing us. She stopped and asked why Brendan was wearing a Cubs shirt. I explained we were visiting from Chicago (but rooting for the Reds that night). She was very nice, talked with us for a few minutes and autographed Brendan’s program complete with a drawing of her St. Bernard (Schottzie’s) paw print.

Also, as the chart indicates, NBA fans are the farthest left and the fact the NBA is 90% black is a turn-on regardless of their financial status. Pistons tickets never were as expensive as Lakers and Warriors (even in the early 2000s when the Pistons were good). Detroit is a hockey town.

The leagues and owners are intent on placating their millionaire players even if it costs half of their fan base.

The sports team owners are caving to the cement simians because they don’t want to lose their sponsors. The sponsors are caving into the same simians because they don’t want to lose their customers. Sounds like in incestuous circle/fustercluck.

The last MLB statistics I saw indicated that only 8% of players are black. Lots of Puerto Ricans and people from Central America.Compare the present day with the past – Mays, Arron, Banks, Gibson, Brock, etc. Today’s stars are either white or brown, which really upsets some social justice warriors who complain that it’s a “white man’s game.”

I guess it’s the fault of systemic racism that blacks prefer basketball and football to baseball.

“Taking a knee” is the first step in making baseball “less white.” Next steps: showboating when a player hits a single and taunting the opposition.

    A Marital Story

A woman, cranky because her husband was late coming home again decided to leave a note saying, “I’ve had enough and left you, don’t bother coming after me” and hid under the bed to see his reaction.

After a short while the husband comes home and she could hear him in the kitchen before he comes into the bedroom; she could see him walking towards the dressing table and pick up the note.

    After a few minutes he wrote something on it before picking up the phone and calling someone;

“She’s finally gone…yeah I know, about bloody time, I’m coming to pick you up, put on the sexy French perfume, I love you”.

He hung up, grabbed his keys and left.

She heard the car drive off as she came out from under the bed, seething with rage and with tears in her eyes she grabbed the note to see what he wrote:

“I can see your feet. Stop being stupid, we’re outta bread, put the kettle on, back in 5 minutes”
