Separation, Really?

For “Red” America: No one “wins” this civil war. But if anyone loses, it’s you. Your base is older, less educated, poorer, and barely growing. You accuse the Left of living in a dream world, but you are waiting for Ronald Reagan to come back. The voters who will determine America’s future have never heard of Reagan and do not care to learn.

For “Blue” America: You have the momentum; you are winning the strategic battle. You have marched through the institutions and are closing on Ideological Hegemony. Your enemies are in general retreat. But advances have roused your opponent, and the easy victories are in the past. They now feel Silicon Valley constricting their political oxygen. For some time their leaders seemed uninspired, complacent, sheepishly mumbling lines about tax cuts. But Donald Trump is evidence this has changed. They will fight like people who understand they have everything to lose.

First I suggest a review of the piece. There are salient observations therein. He captures the essence of what the divide is in many ways and misses by a mile in others. The source of the blinders? –

… On the contrary, the following was written by someone who served as an officer in the United States military, worked in Congress and on presidential campaigns, is founder and principal of a private partnership, and holds multiple Ivy League degrees. Also, as is apparent from the essay below, the author understands what America and the American Right is or was in a manner that at the very least overlaps considerably with what the Republican establishment and neoconservative movement has held for decades. —Eds.

The author is a Swamp Thing. His understanding of issues is temporaneous, not actual. His views are legislative not IRL. Some realities that defy some components of his understanding –

  • The US military, E1 to 1Lt, is 60% comprised of Red State personnel. 30% of the officer corps is a blend of the Red and Blue. The balance are Flag rank personnel that are trending Blue due to the inherent political meddling at that rank. In any real dust up its that 60% that will pick up their toys an go home to defend home and hearth.

  • As this is written the power of social media is breaking up. Core companies, HP, Oracle, Tesla, et. al. are all leaving California. These are the companies that the Twitters and Facebooks depend on for the tech. On another front once dubious rivals in the SM space are now growing in exponential fashion, MeWe, Rumble, Odysee, Gab. They now represent an underdog but serious challenge to the ‘legacy’ SM space. States like Texas, Tennessee, Florida are the landing zones for those leaving. Members of such entities tend to adopt the ethos of the State of which they reside over a long period of time.

  • The corporate dislocation is also a smaller picture of the realignment that Red v Blue is doing at the personal level. The author intones that Blue is younger, smarter, more energetic. That might well be but when Blue moves with the job to Red who is gaining at the State level in such a transaction? Its not Blue I can assure you. (What will Blue parents say when their Red offspring wants a .22lr rifle because all the cool kids have them?)

  • The author totally misses what the pandemic has done to the once mighty Blue urban cores. Simply put they are decimated. They are not coming back and the 2030 Census will represent the largest political alignment of this nation since the Civil War. Whole Blue Congressional districts will disappear.

  • The monolith of State education has had cracks at the base for several decades now. The pandemic has driven kids and parents to online education. The parents for once have seen the sausage being made in their own living rooms and don’t like it. One can tell it is impacting as many an educator is bemoaning the visibility of what they are doing for all to see. What changes that wrings from the system we have yet to see.

  • Populism is not going away, its gaining strength. That is not just a fact in America, it is happening around the world. EU States like Hungry and Poland stand at the front gate screaming ‘NO’ to the New World Order. Germany is in turmoil as a majority of the population resist the lock-down orders.

The list of missives could go on for some length. But is there something he gets right?

America needs a separation, not a divorce. The objective is to save America—not destroy it. The Separation is an orderly agreement allowing Red and Blue America political living space while acknowledging the practical bonds of geography, commerce, currency, debt, diplomacy and military force. Secession as pique, willy-nilly, by individual or small groups of states, will end badly. Divorce by secession will again require mariticide.

In the course of human events, it can become necessary for people to relax the political bands connecting them. America is divided, but it is interesting that both sides still claim fealty to the Constitution. This is non-partisan: America has a genius for designing constitutional government. This trait must serve us again.

It is the essence of it. More State power, less Federal power. But like a Swamp Thing he dances away from what this would mean to accomplish it, no –

  • Dept of Education
  • FBI
  • Reduced CDC, Dept of Ag, etc.
  • EPA

etc. Essentially a massive write down of the ecology that permits him to be a Swamp Thing. There is even an indicator if such an event should have occurred, the ‘K’ Street in DC would become a ghost town.

We can get there but not without blood.

Excellent points YOU make, Drdog, in refuting some of the Swamp creature’s points.

One other thing he gets partly wrong and misses the real meaning of: “Your base is older, less educated, poorer, and barely growing.”

We ARE older…which us MORE dangerous. My life has been good, but I love my family much more than my life. If I have to “sell” what is left of my life I will do so dearly. MILLIONS of folks my age feel exactly like this.

We are NOT “less educated”…we just tend to not have fancy degrees in “Gender Studies”. We have REAL education in the things that will REALLY matter in the struggle that’s coming.

“Poorer”? We have accumulated property and savings that we can and will withhold from the government when they come for it.

“Barely growing”? Yes, our “Base” doesn’t have a massive propaganda and indoctrination machine behind it, so yeah, we’re barely (if at all) “growing”. But the coming fight isn’t about numbers…it’s about intensity…and that we have.

    True enough.
I think additionally it is the case that there are many currently invested in PC thought will meet up with cognitive dissonance (“Politicians are letting crooks out of jail but my car got broken into to. Huh.”)
Some hefty number of them will stop believing 88 impossible things before breakfast. I don’t think hardly ANY of us will realign our outlook.
Do any of us know ANYONE who is all “I was for Trump but now I think Biden, Pelosi and Schumer have the correct outlook”?

    Excellent post drdog09 –

The problem is RINO establishment squishes like Mitt Romney, who would have been ratting on his neighbors had he lived in Hitler’s Germany or today’s Communist China.

Why is an American stimulus Bill giving $700,000,000 to Sudan and another $1.3 Billion to foreign military in Egypt, and $453,000,000 to the Ukraine?

And what are YOU going to get? $600USD. In the aggregate? $198Bn. This is your cut on a $2.3Tn bill. It really raises the question of whose country is this anyway?

there are numerous articles floating about that seem to mimic the yearly lament of Chicago Cubs fans between 1908 and 2016: “Just wait until NEXT year!

It only took 108 years for “Next year” to roll around for Cubs fans. So yeah, maybe in 108 years a non-Progressive/Socialist/Democrat can win the White House again. NOT!

The hopeful folks already looking forward to 2024 are either idiots or they are part of the same misinformation machine that dragged Biden across the finish line this year. Despite obvious and MASSIVE fraud, a candidate that slept in a basement the ENTIRE time, and NO actual agenda, the Democrats “won”.

They will NEVER relinquish power again…willingly. Even if one or both Republicans win in Georgia (which I am beginning to doubt), the Democrats will NOT waste any time consolidating power, and rewarding BigTech, et al. By 2024 elections across the board will useless.

Maybe I was too optimistic in thinking we could make it to June 2024

    There are many lists ….
    Here’s one.
No obvious reason to ever vote Repub again

Family members of unauthorized immigrants are now eligible to get stimulus checks under the $900 billion deal reached last night. That eligibility is retroactive, so adults excluded last time could get up to $1800 now

Note taken. Should I earn the title of Stasi Railroad Commander I shall use that tactic.

As a simple matter it would be cheaper to use IP’s approach than assemble a 10man SWAT team to accomplish the same thing. Just have them show up to collect the $$ instead.
