Pathways to Tomorrow

2021 January 22
by justrand

An exercise prevalent in the business world a few years back was to have a group of executives and other employees get together and do the following:

  1. Imagine the company 10 years out – Best Case, Status Quo, Worst Case
  2. Imagine for each scenario how the company got there

I participated in and even led several of these sessions at different companies.  “Status Quo”, btw, was quickly realized to be a flavor of “Worst Case”, since in a changing world (business or otherwise) standing still is suicide.

Looking at America 10 years out, the “Status Quo” would indeed be suicide…and frankly impossible!

IMHO there are a couple “Best Case” scenarios, and three really bad “Worst Case” ones.  Naturally there are a myriad variations of each.

Best Case scenarios:

  1. America wakes the fu@k up, and returns to its founding principles!
  2. A (reasonably) “amicable divorce” occurs, and two nations inhabit the space where America is currently.

Worst Case scenarios:

  1. America doesn’t wake the fu@k up, and we are one dismal Socialist State…with all the tyranny required to maintain it!
  2. A “NASTY divorce” (Civil War) occurs, and the two nations inhabiting the space where America is currently, are at each other’s throats 24×7…in all ways including militarily.
  3. America has been conquered, with all the attendant destruction involved.

The unholy alliance of the Democrats, the “Swamp”, “Woke” corporations, the media, BigTech, and the deranged Left (massive overlap in that list) have convinced me that neither of the “Best Case” scenarios is likely…or even possible.

In “Worst Case” scenario #1 the entrenched tyranny would have to increasingly tighten their grip…leading to more and more unrest and armed resistance.  Sooner or later this would lead to at least an attempt at “Worst Case” scenario #2.   Which would very likely lead to some country (China!) attempting “Worst Case” scenario #3.

In other words, IMHO, if we don’t find some way get some flavor of one of the “Best Case” scenarios, we are DOOMED as a FREE nation.

Trump should quote Schumer on inciting the “erection” during his defense that demented Joe stole the election next month.

Just a thought but if Trump is impeached, then senate dems will move to impeach hawley and cruise as well and then about 100 house republicans who did the same next.

    “3. America has been conquered”
There was a time when that was unthinkable. Not any more. Who stands for America anymore?
Don’t we all suspect Dems have (and will continue to) sold us out to China?
And they’ve got some weird pseudo religious belief that replacing white Americans with brown central Americans will improve the country a lot. How is that possible?

All these Trump officials have been banned from visiting China on the way out the door 27 of them.

Would be interesting to see one of them visit Taiwan at this point as it’s run as an independent country but China considers it part of chinese territory, which the Trump officials are banned from entering.

I think the rumors that “ex-White House officials urge McConnell to convict Trump” are utter bullshit disinformation. But I could be wrong.

IF McConnell does go along and the Senate DOES convict Trump, then I think Trump will immediately use his money and influence to start a third Party. And I think McConnell knows this.

ANY Republican who votes to convict Trump is doomed politically. They’ll be primaried, and even if they defeat their Primary challenger, people like me will donate to the Democrat.

McConnell is nothing if not a political creature.

just before William Wallace shows up at Stirling in ‘Braveheart’, the common Scots start to leave the field KNOWING they are about to at least be screwed…if not die.

One of the Scottish Lairds says: “Men, please, do not go…at least let us negotiate first!

I tried to find a clip of just that part but couldn’t. Regardless, it is EXACTLY what the GOP sounds like now as people (like me) are preparing to leave the GOP forever. Trump is no William Wallace…but he is head & and shoulders above ALL the rest of the GOP combined.

How can I add Chase when it’s been on my boycott list for at least a dozen years? When I returned to Detroit in the 1990s, I did all my banking at NBD (formerly National Bank of Detroit). NBD merged with First Chicago and soon was acquired by Bank One. Shortly thereafter Bank One was acquired by Chase. After about a year I dumped Chase.

    Hmmmm.

    Due consideration to the scenarios.

BC1 ain’t happening with the Dims in power. Only happens if you take the long view, and even then…..
BC2 is possible but not a long term solution which I will get to in a moment
WC3 won’t happen cuz why bother ‘conquering’ when ‘F’en up’ seems to be doing just fine?
WC2 like BC2 would only last a short while.
WC1 has high likelihood. But it will likely lead to WC2.

Now WC2, BC2 can’t last for the simple reason that once socialists run out of other peoples money they start blaming the situation on someone else to quell the masses. That someone else would be Trumpland. Border skirmishes first, all out war eventually. End game is a winner take all scenario. Like most games, best to play hard as early as possible.

JR, 22, I don’t discuss politics with “friends” unless they’re on the same page these days ….

So it’s just family. My wife doesn’t question. I think she is worried that I’m too riled up and that could cause trouble, for example, get our last daughter blackballed from college acceptance or something. I’m retired so it’s hard to fire me.
And she is mostly sympathetic. Her friends sent that meme I posted just above. Another one they have shows two columns. One is Trump tax rates for various categories, the other column for Biden*. The diagram is labeled MAPA (make America poor again).

So it’s just daughters. They mostly avoid discussing it, but still cringe if I say “All Lives Matter” LOL. They’re not thinking “everything will be fine”, they’re mostly thinking it’s nice that America is addressing racism and stuff. They’re on board with the Dems, sigh.

Politicians have been venal since the dawn of time. American politicians have been as stupid and criminal as any other nation’s. I’m sure a lot of folks avert eyes and just say “As long as I don’t have to attend School Board meetings, they can do what they want.” It’s worked in the past and will likely work in the future. The question is whether it will work now. Can we just let a band of idiot commies run around and ignore the damage? Personally I’m thinking “no”, there’s too many of them and we’ve lost our cushion for surviving idiocy, but I’ve been wrong before.

I bet most people are hoping to ride it out. But plenty are spoiling for a fight.

Gabbard is the ONLY sane and sensible Democrat. And she is absolutely right about the danger of this.

During the Obama Regime (now know as “The Good Old Days”) a list surfaced that was being used to train DHS employees how to identify “Potential Domestic Terrorists”. After an uproar over it they DHS claimed they “altered the training”. Here are the top items from the list (which will be updated and EXPANDED by the Biden* Regime):

    – Those that display the Gadsden Flag (“Don’t Tread On Me”)
    – Evangelical Christians
    – Expressions of libertarian philosophies (statements, bumper stickers)
    – Second Amendment-oriented views (NRA or gun club membership, holding a CCW permit)
    – Survivalist literature (fictional books such as “Patriots” and “One Second After” are mentioned by name)
    – Self-sufficiency (stockpiling food, ammo, hand tools, medical supplies)
    – Fear of economic collapse (buying gold and barter items)
    – Religious views concerning the book of Revelation (apocalypse, anti-Christ)
    – Expressed fears of Big Brother or big government
    – Homeschooling
    – Owning copies of the Declaration of Independence and/or the Constitution
    – Belief in a New World Order conspiracy and/or opposed to the U.N.’s “Agenda 21”
    – Anyone that is “anti-abortion”
    ‘ “Rightwing extremists” (left undefined)
    – Returning veterans

I follow studies on the media closely, but have never heard of Edelman. Of course, it’s the fault of public perception rather than media misstatements (aka lies)

According to Gallup’s annual media trust survey, a majority of Americans havent trusted the media since 2005. The latest Gallup media trust study states that 33% of Americans have absolutely no trust in the media while another 27% have very little trust:

Sincere question: how are you folks dealing with family and friends who think “everything will be fine”?

Good question. I’ll admit that I am finding it hard to resist just putting my head in the sand and letting the world pass by. I have both a job and personality where it would be very easy to simply keep my head down and concentrate on my work.

On the very rare times I am willing to share my feelings with others on the happenings of the day, I tend to start with “I realize that no one really cares what I think, but since you ask, here it goes…” to blunt opinions that when expressed in the SF Bay Area sound like dangerous wrong-think. I both like my job and need it for at least a few more years so adopting a “Don’t ask, don’t tell.” policy works best for both civil relations with others and my own sanity.

My main task for the next four to five years is to launch my two kids on leading productive lives. My daughter is just graduating from college this year and is largely apolitical, but does then tend to swallow leftist tripe pretty easily to fit in with her friends. If she ends up with a conservative-minded husband, I’m pretty sure she’ll swing to the right very easily. If she ends up with a leftist husband, I’m fairly certain holiday meals will be mighty uncomfortable. As to my son who just graduated high school, he’s a work in progress. My main concern is keeping him from going full alt-right, national socialist, and keeping him off government watch lists. Coming of age during Covid and a full assault by leftists on white young men has been incredibly difficult for him. Despite his poor academic performance, he’s a smart kid and I think he’ll make it.

Aside, from concentrating on work and my two kids, my wife is my biggest challenge. She sees what the leftists are doing to this country and is politically/socially conservative, but she also tries to be fully politically-correct and is far too afraid of “What will the neighbors think?”. Right now, we are in disagreement on dropping all our subscriptions to things such as Amazon and Netflix. I’m pissed that a portion of my paycheck goes to big-media/tech that hates me, but she just wants to watch their shows and doesn’t see the connection between feeding the beast and enabling what its doing. She was very liberal when we met as teens, but has come a long way since then. She still has a ways to go though.

Sterling Hayden knew the answer back in 1956 and I have quoted it often —

What does a man need – really need? A few pounds of food each day, heat and shelter, six feet to lie down in – and some form of working activity that will yield a sense of accomplishment. That’s all – in the material sense, and we know it. But we are brainwashed by our economic system until we end up in a tomb beneath a pyramid of time payments, mortgages, preposterous gadgetry, playthings that divert our attention for the sheer idiocy of the charade.

BC is the trailblazer here because whether he knows it or not he has been apply Sturgeon’s Law —

Ninety percent of everything is crap.

    Quip of the day:
Chairman Xiden’s inauguration speech was so boring, Clinton nodded off. A reader observed, “It was the first time Bill slept next to Hillary in 40 years.”

From the Parler dot com web page.

“Parler is gratified that the court refused to uncritically accept Amazon’s argument – widely repeated in the media – that the Parler platform was somehow used to plan, coordinate or execute the despicable January 6 riot at the Capitol.”
I’d go with ill-advised, counter productive or even illegal but “despicable” rubs me the wrong way.

At his Senate confirmation hearing (for Secretary of Transportation) Pete Buttigieg, was asked about the well over 10,000 workers already laid off by Biden’s cancelling of the Keystone Pipeline. He relied on his VAST knowledge of business & transportation, acquired as a one-term Mayor is South Bend, to reply: “They’re just going to have to find other jobs”

    68,

An therein lies the core of our problem. We have become France, a country led by individuals who have no particular expertise except how to speak in tongues and dole out favors. Farmers, merchants and insurance salesmen of yore did a far better job at much less cost.

Drdog, worse than “we have become France”, we have become the America of ‘Atlas Shrugged’. And all of the disasters and maladies that Ayn Rand envisioned are now coming to pass and/or on the verge. Trump forestalled this for4 short years, and the Left is NOT about to let that happen again.

One I sort of disagree with — https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/us-economy-set-overheat-households-are-flooded-2-trillion-excess-savings

Will it over heat the economy? I will be the first to admit it CAN. But it does not have to. If Americans to the extent that they can just sat on the stimulus checks it won’t happen. All depends on the velocity of money. If the money does not move, there is no inflation. The trick is pump up today is not realized generally till 12-18 months later. The smart move for some would be to pay down their debt with the govt checks.

Food prices soaring? Blame the Chinese on that one not stimulus checks. Their AG sector was wiped out in the summer floods so they are going out into the global market and sucking up anything not nailed down. There will not be any relief on that score till the crops start coming in mid summer.

In doing some work for a new client Friday, I discovered there is a John Galt Boulevard in Omaha, NB. One of its salon accounts is on that street.

If we all move there, it will be easier for the government and social media to spy on us.
