Where Do the Democrats Go From Here?

2021 August 16
by bc3b

The exit from Afghanistan has been a total disaster … to such a degree that the even CNN and MSNBC are attacking Joe Biden.

Let’s take a look at a few of Biden’s “successes” during the first seven months:

  • The Afghanistan debacle
  • The border crisis, which has become more serious with the rise in COVID cases and now the possibility that Jihadists may be coming across the border and bringing weapons
  • Inflation is rampant – food, gas, housing, etc.
  • Crime is soaring, especially murders in major cities
  • We are no longer energy independent – Biden begged OPEC to increase production and OPEC snubbed him
  • The country has become increasingly divided – opponents are standing up against many leftist pipe dreams from mandatory vaccinations and “passports” to critical race theory
  • Americans are starting to question intelligence agencies and the military’s woke leadership

If you are a Democratic leader, what do you do?

  • Polls already indicated that Republicans were likely to take control of the Senate and capture the House. Now we have the Afghanistan fiasco. We have reached a point where even the media won’t defend Biden
  • Do you attempt to force Biden out via the 25th Amendment or “voluntary” retirement? Every Republican congressional and gubernatorial candidate is going to be running against both their opponent and Joe Biden in 2022. The problem with the strategy of dumping Biden is that Kamala Harris has shown herself not only to be very unpopular, but also totally incompetent.
  • Obviously, any strategy you plan will involve the media – CNN, MSNBC and the Alphabet Networks and social media platforms

So, what do you do?

What do you do with a liability like Joe Biden?

    Biden is saving the planet.

Stopping oil production here where it is dirty, and moving it to OPEC to make up for it where they do clean energy.

THE AFGHAN ARMY DIDN’T SURRENDER: IT REJOINED ITS TRIBES
    http://www.danielgreenfield.org

“The Afghan army, like its Iraqi counterpart, was a wholly artificial western institution. When faced with a tribal crisis, its members revert to their first duty, which is going to the defense of their tribe.

    The Afghan army didn’t “surrender”.

Its Pashtun members surrendered to the Taliban who are fellow Pashtuns. Hazaras fled to Iran and took our equipment with them for the benefit of Hezbollah, the Houthis, and any other Shiite terrorists. The Uzbeks fled to Uzbekistan.

There’s no Afghanistan. It’s a collection of tribes whose members are loyal to their own.”

I wish we knew what flavor of ice cream Biden was eating when they told him the news. That’s the real story. The press would probably ask Psaki if she wasn’t also on vacation. Ah, well…I guess we’ll never know. 🙁

    1. Getting Afghanistan out of the news as quickly as possible
    2. Avoiding coverage of Lloyd Austin and Mark Milley as both are viewed as incompetent by the American people
3, Focusing on the false narratives Alejandro Mayorkas has been pushing that anti-vaxers and those questioning the results of the 2020 election are as dangerous as Jihadist terrorists

    PRP, absolutely the “Biden Effect”

Our enemies around the world (and internally) still had a tiny (VERY tiny) bit of doubt as to whether having Joe Biden in the White House meant our ENTIRE government and military was utterly ineffective…that tiny doubt is GONE.

Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Israel and Britain now know we CANNOT be relied on in any way…and our mutual enemies do too.

I went to a coffee-shop/cafe to play chess last night. The owner saw my “I HODL” T-shirt and immediately started talking crypto LOL. He disparaged BTC and ETH a bit. Too stodgy.
He recommended a number of altcoins principally Cardano but several others as well.

It’s an odd cafe with a mix of Greek and Turkish cuisine, some American standards and a large number of imported German and Euro beers.

None of the chess players noticed the T-shirt …

Asset price inflation is the SAME as wage deflation.

If houses go up, that means you have to work twice as much to buy the same thing.

If apple stock and amazon stock go up, you have to work twice as much for the same retirement assets. Yet ppl keep looking at CPI

I preordered Mark Spintznagel’s next book last year. I forgot about it, and it just arrived.

Here’s a review: Book Review: Mark Spitznagel’s Truly Spectacular ‘Safe Haven’

    https://www.realclearmarkets.com/articles/2021/08/17/book_review_mark_spitznagels_truly_spectacular_safe_haven_790326.html

“While it’s probably true that “brilliant” and “genius” are words too frequently used in modern times, thus inflating away their meaning, it’s safe to apply both of the adjectives to the Universa Investments founder and CIO while wholly confident that neither is excessive.

Spitznagel is quite simply fascinating, and his mind full of what’s endlessly interesting. Though his knowledge of investing could surely fill a library-size collection of books, the relatively slim (in length) Safe Haven is Spitznagel’s effort to better understand how he and his Universa colleagues invest by explaining the philosophy to those who can’t. And won’t.

Yes, you read that right. Per the author himself, the lessons within Safe Haven are “not to be attempted by nonprofessionals.” More important, he’s clear that he’s not even conveying an approach to investing that could be attempted “by most professionals.” As Spitznagel sees it, “professionals” would likely struggle with his approach the most precisely because it’s so unorthodox.”

    https://www.thenewneo.com/2021/08/17/obama-and-the-release-of-the-gitmo-prisoners-in-exchange-for-bergdahl-coming-home-to-roost/
When President Barack Obama released five Taliban commanders from the Guantanamo Bay prison in exchange for an American deserter in 2014, he assured a wary public that the dangerous enemy combatants would be transferred to Qatar and kept from causing any trouble in Afghanistan.

In fact, they were left free to engineer Sunday’s sacking of Kabul.

Soon after gaining their freedom, some of the notorious Taliban Five pledged to return to fight Americans in Afghanistan and made contacts with active Taliban militants there. But the Obama-Biden administration turned a blind eye to the disturbing intelligence reports, and it wasn’t long before the freed detainees used Qatar as a base to form a regime in exile…

Earlier this year, one of them, Khairullah Khairkhwa, actually sat across the table from President Biden’s envoy to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, in Moscow, where Khairkhwa was part of the official Taliban delegation that negotiated the final terms of the US withdrawal.

NewNeo also says: ” I don’t think that Obama failed to understand what he was doing. It’s even worse that this was done in order to free deserter Bergdahl”

    46, exactly right!
Don’t spend the money on gourmet cookies lol but
    1) borrow responsibly
    2) buy quality assets: stocks, metals, crypto, real estate, whatever you believe will hold value
    3) get that low low interest rate while you can!!
    4) pay back in crappy fiat paper money that is losing value

The wife and I literally paid off our mortgage this month. “No more monthly payments” sez I.
“Hmmm. We should buy something and take out a mortgage!” she said.

I’m told if you are unable to get the vaccine due to medical reasons you will not be allowed to enter buildings under the mandate”

“An NYC lawyer just told me they are getting hundreds of calls about the vaccine mandate
They didn’t elaborate on the circumstances of the calls but I was asking about medical discrimination”

“So far called 14 NYC restaurants asking they mandate vaccines
    12 said yes
They also said people with medical conditions preventing them from getting vaccinated will not be allowed in
One said its fine if you’re medically exempt
One said they won’t check at all”

Sure, but when you hit 30 years (or 15 or 12 or whatever the term), you’ll pay off that mortgage. And it will be a cool moment in your life. An achievement not everyone experiences.
I guess technically we could HELOC our existing paid-off home but it seems smarter to start on a new property … ideally in a different state (if you know what I mean).
There’s still a non-zero chance of CA going Full Commie and expropriating private property. Or just making such a mess that the private property loses substantial value.

    51,

Be careful with a HELOC. Technically they are not a mortgage under contract but more akin to a commercial loan legally. You could be faithfully making your payments but under a HELOC the bank could call the note for a variety of reasons while under a mortgage they could not. Neither are all HELOC’s the same so read the fine print.
