Why Ted Cruz Will Never Be President

For a guy who is supposedly brilliant, Ted Cruz says and does some of the dumbest things imaginable.

Just as people were beginning to forget about the Ted Cruz – Glenn Beck presidential insanity tour of 2016 complete with Cheetos, he fled to Cancun last winter when many Texans were without heat or power.

Cruz, a Texas Republican, spoke to reporters after returning to his Houston home Thursday evening from a trip that has earned fierce criticism on social media and in his own backyard.
“I started having second thoughts almost the moment I sat down on the plane, because on the one hand, all of us who are parents have a responsibility to take care of our kids, take care of our family. That’s something Texans have been doing across the state,” said Cruz, who had said in an earlier statement that he flew to Mexico because his daughters had asked to take a trip and he was trying to be a “good dad.”
“But I also have a responsibility that I take very seriously for the state of Texas and frankly, leaving when so many Texans were hurting didn’t feel right and so I changed my return flight and flew back on the first available flight I could take,” Cruz continued.
Now that people are beginning to forget about Cruz’s escape to Cancun, he placed both feet squarely in his mouth, speaking out against the January 6 “mostly peaceful” protests and giving Democrats and the media plenty of ammunition as he termed it a “violent terrorist attack on the capitol.” That sounds like something that would come from Chuckles Schumer or Nanzi Pelosi.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) shocked many conservatives on Wednesday when he echoed the left’s overwrought January 6 messaging during a Senate Rules Committee hearing, referring to the riot as a “violent terrorist attack on the Capitol,” and offering full-throated support for the Capitol Police, some of whose actions led to the deaths of multiple unarmed Trump supporters.  Cruz thanked the police for “defending” the U.S. Capitol and said those who assaulted law enforcement officers should be prosecuted.

“We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week,” Cruz said. “And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol where we saw the men and women law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage, incredible bravery, risk their lives to defend the men and women who serve in this Capitol.”

“My view is that anyone who commits an act of violence should be prosecuted,” Cruz said during Senate testimony from Capitol Police chief Wednesday. “And anyone who assaults a law enforcement officer should go to jail for a very long time. And I think that’s a principle that is true regardless of the politics of the violent criminal, whether they are right-wing, left-wing or they got no wings at all.”

According to American Greatness reporter Julie Kelly, the Trump supporters didn’t start fighting back until the they were attacked.

Police began attacking crowds of protesters peacefully assembled outside the Capitol building around 1:15 p.m. on January 6, shortly after President Trump finished his speech at the Ellipse. Capitol Police deployed tear gas and pepper balls into the crowd while D.C. Metro police threw flashbangs and sting balls filled with rubber bullets, which prompted many of the initial confrontations between police and protesters.

“The minute you call it a ‘violent terrorist attack on the capitol,’ you lose most of your standing when complaining about the DOJ, Dems and Media because they have diff views than you how to handle a “violent terrorist attack on the capitol,” wrote political commentator Yossi Gestetner on Twitter.

“Cruz accepts the narrative that lawmakers were about to be lynched despite the fact that many hundreds calmly walked in the Capitol taking selfies and not moving rope lines. It was mostly calm where PD was not at hand,” Gestetner added in a subsequent tweet.

“The game is over, folks. Go home and get a life. You are wasting your time with the GOP,” he lamented.

Ted Cruz is living proof that just because a man is brilliant doesn’t mean he isn’t totally lacking in common sense.

Republicans I fully trust include Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert and …err … err … err …..

Like most Republicans, Cruz wants the establishment to love and “respect” him. It’ll never happen, but he keeps trying. Ceruz also may want the January 6 commission to bury Trump as Cruz has already discussed running for president again in 2024 and wants Trump. DeSantis would destroy Cruz.

Cruz is pooping in his mess kit. Midterms are not the time for presidential politics inside the party. Could he not wait Trashing Trump until we grab a few survival handholds in November. We can’t afford to fall further down the cliff face.

Nope, will never forget all his stunts in 2016, he was done then and nothing will ever change that with me, there is zero possibility of me voting for him for potus. Sounds like all he just did was ensure the same with even more people.

Tucker Carlson makes the point that Ted Cruz is a lawyer who carefully crafts his words and doesn’t say things by accident.

It’s no secret that Cruz wants to run in 2024. One pundit thought Cruz had two goals: 1. Help make sure Trump doesn’t run again and 2. obtain the backing of the GOP donor class, which is far to the left in the GOP base. I think yesterday’s words will come back to haunt Cruz.

    I love shortbread!

I agree with Tucker Carlson that Cruz said what he meant to say – basically giving Nancy Pelosi a wet kiss. If you check other conservative websites, you’ll see that Cruz’s strategy was suicidal. Using the word “terrorist” was going overboard.

    Well trip completed, some observations:

    * TSA is a continuing joke. 300 people in line to board 6am flights and two lines moving slow as snot.
    * The various airlines are in slow motion free fall to oblivion as business entities.
    * PCR testing, Hawaii. Negative results, not accepted by Hawaii, have to quarantine aka self isolate. Quarantine? What quarantine? We were all over Kona, never asked for papers. Oh and the HI website does not provide what is an ‘approved test facility’.
    * If you want to relive the late ’60’s again take a trip to Kona, HI. Its like getting hit in the face with a time warp. Really laid back, unlike Oahu that I have been to many times on business.

Thanks for keeping Hut 1369 in good working order. 🙂

I see Dick Cheney is at the Insurrection festivities to try to help take down Trump.

Makes me wonder why republicans wouldn’t vote for Ron Paul in 2008 who would have put him on trial for war crimes instead of carrying his water and helping John McCain and brain dead Sarah Palin?

Hello from somewhere out in the middle of the Carribean Sea. Despite what the busybodies at the CDC have to say, me, my wife and about 1500 Americans have been enjoying ourselves for the last week cruising on the high seas and visiting ports along the Central American coast. Yes, the masks are a pain in the ass, but it’s about the worst of it so far. In any case, don’t believe anything you hear from the media (not that I think anyone here would) about cruise lines. They are just pissed off that anyone would dare to have a good time during the “pandemic”. The cruise lines are doing a great job and the whole adventure is about as safe as visiting your local supermarket.

Regarding: Ted Cruz is living proof that just because a man is brilliant doesn’t mean he isn’t totally lacking in common sense.

Some of the dumbest people I’ve known have PhDs or equivalent law degrees. It’s sad to see Ted Cruz is among them.

Trump insulted Cruz’s wife, and Cruz had to support him for the nomination. I really don’t blame him for knifing Trump a bit now that he is weaker.

From a fundraising email. Looks like the Supremes will finally turn their eyes to Covid
    Front Line Doctors:

As you are likely aware, the medical consensus on the COVID-19 “vaccine” effectiveness is that they do not prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2. As you also may know, AFLDS recently filed a brief with the Supreme Court noting that these injections are merely a personal treatment choice, and not a public health measure at all. With over 50 other citations, AFLDS’ brief breaks new legal ground.

An excellent article that hits it’s 4 points perfectly! The only thing the author doesn’t touch is the accelerated effort (via “vaccines”) to DE-populate the Earth to ~500 million. But that effort is REAL.

Here in Borrego Springs there are “Masks are MANDATORY!” signs everywhere you go…and less 50% are wearing them. My wife is a big rule follower, and even she rarely follows the rules at more. In fact, those WEARING masks are starting to look out of place.
