Mark Levin Goes Full-Bore Neocon

2022 April 27

On his Fox News show Sunday night, Mark Levin went full-bore neocon (urging greater support for Ukraine), while claiming not to be a neocon. He attacked nationalists and populists.

I am not a Mark Levin fan for numerous reasons:

  1. Levin always comes across as being angry. He is dour and humorless.
  2. He has a very annoying voice.
  3. He would rather be scholarly than pragmatic, He seems to fail to realize that in 2022 there is a class war between the elites and working class Americans and this war was started by the elites. The British were far more principled than today’s left. Today’s elites use capitalism to control the working class. Nike profits because shoes are manufactured by slave labor in China rather than Americans in Missouri.
  4. Just as George Will attacked Ronald Reagan incessantly until Reagan’s nomination was inevitable in 1979-80, Levin did the same thing to Trump in 2015-16. Levin realized he lost much of his audience and was fearful of losing more.

I listened to Levin for about an hour a night for about six months. Then I came to the realization that I was  torturing myself through torture five nights a week.

Donald Trump was the best president than Reagan and perhaps even better than Reagan because he was a nationalist, who put America first. Sometimes he made mistakes, especially with people he trusted. But Donald Tr ump is battling in a 2022 world. He is not mired in the past like Mark Levine.

Fox News host Mark Levin went full neocon on Sunday night, attacking “so-called nationalist populists” as un-American isolationists and ordering viewers to “reject” both ideologies as “dangerous” and disconnected from the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

“I have in front of me the pocket edition of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States, the word nationalist cannot be found in either the Declaration or the Constitution, why is this?” Levin said. “Because the people who founded your country and the people, the Framers of your Constitution, were not nationalists — they were Americans.”

“So what am I saying, am I a globalist?” Levin said. “I don’t even know what that means. No, I’m a red-blooded American Constitutionalist who believes in Capitalism and representative government.”

“What does that mean?” he asked. “It’s simple, you don’t treat communist China the way you treat Great Britain when it comes to trade. You don’t send advanced technologies to Russia or to Iran technologies you might send to Israel.”

“You use your noggin, you use your common sense that’s what you do,” he said.

Levin continued: “Let’s move this into foreign policy, I keep hearing this line still, ‘What do you want to do get us in a war with Russia over Ukraine?’ ”

“And these people pretend to be conservatives and they say America First, America First, these are prominent people who know of not what they speak, they’re going to surrender the next century, this century, to the communist Chinese with their idiocy, with their lack of foresight!” he said.

Levin said “America First” means “stand[ing] up” to the “monster” that is Putin to prevent a “true world war.”

“Americanism means to me when you see mass graves in Ukraine, now, 9,000, when you see people being slaughtered by a monster and a war machine that is imperialistic, that if they have their way will do the same to the rest of Eastern Europe and Western Europe, and will light the fuse with its allies in communist China in terrorist Iran, in North Korea and on and on and on, really creating a true world war,” he said.

“Well, America First doesn’t mean putting your head in the sand and pretending otherwise. You want to protect your children from war? You stand up now! If you believe in America First from our Declaration to our Constitution to our founding principles to our economic system then you must reject … nationalism, populism and all the other isms, embrace your history see what’s before you reject these dangerous ideologies that are incoherent but are destructive!”

According to Levin, true Americanism is not avoiding entangling alliances as George Washington called for but fighting for Ukraine, Israel and Capitalism against the Russkies, the Iranians and the Communist Chinese! That’s gotta be in the Constitution somewhere!

    Several additional points:
    1. Other than giving the world Olesya Stefanko, what has Ukraine done for Americans not named Biden Heinz (Kerry) or Pelosi? It is one of the most corrupt countries in Europe.

    2. To deny the nation’s founding fathers weren’t nationalists is ludicrous.

    3. Like other neocons constantly beating the drums for war, Levin has never spent a day in his country’s uniform

$. Levin is on the side of the elites

…mass graves in Ukraine, now, 9,000, when you see people being slaughtered by a monster and a war machine that is imperialistic

Ukraine has been undergoing a civil war since 2014. 10,000+ people died in that war up to the beginning of this year. Russia is now actively picking sides, but it is still a civil war. Let’s not be like Russia and stay the hell out.

Well, America First doesn’t mean putting your head in the sand and pretending otherwise.

Our founding fathers explicitly, on several occasions, warned against foreign entanglements. Rushing to the other side of the world and sticking our nose into a regional conflict is a foreign entanglement that would have had our founding fathers shaking their heads in disapproval.

I always thought Levin was a horse’s ass. Him going full neocon to fight another war is no surprise and just confirms my suspicions about the guy. Sheesh, did we not learn anything by way of endless wars in Iraq and Afghanistan?

I actually don’t think the West’s sanctions on Russia have been especially crippling because of Europes unwillingness to go along with any of it.

It’s also annoying that they can always get support from China who we created. We destroyed the Soviet Union.

Had they had a trade powerhouse in China (in the 80’s) like they do today maybe they never would have fallen and we’d still be in the cold war.

Wow, she had that eyes wide open, surprised face thing she did in 2016 back in 1996 as well. Didn’t any advisor have the balls to tell her it looked creepy?

bc, agree. I’ve never seen the appeal of “Old Yeller”.

Meanwhile, Gab reacts to rumors that it will die once Twitter becomes “free speech” under Elon.
    https://news.gab.com/2022/04/26/gab-responds-elon-buys-twitter-now-what/

    Here’s the key thought:
Gab was reduced to a pile of ash in the fall of 2018 and we lost everything. We were banned from hosting providers, payment processors, and my CTO quit all within roughly 72 hours. The website was offline for six days, but on day seven the site was resurrected by the grace of God and by the incredible determination of one brave engineer who didn’t sleep for a week.

It is from that pile of ash that I watched God grow Gab into the single most resilient alternative to Big Tech with a community of tens of millions of people that it is today.

    A comment seen online.

“It continues to amaze me how many conservatives remain suckers for the CIA/State department/Ruling Class agitprop re the Ukraine war.
Putin isn’t a threat to me so why should I want to stick it to him? Neither is Zelensky. Joe Biden and the CIA and the Deep State and Foggy Bottom and the WEF and the globalists and Big Tech and the DNC and the Ruling Class and China and the corporate prog players and progs in general are all not only threats to me they’re my enemies.
More importantly they are the mortal enemies of the same dingbat conservatives who know what corrupt, manipulative liars they are in every other area of life and politics but for some reason swallow hook, line and sinker the manufactured distraction by those very same liars regarding this war.
Pathetic. Wake up. Ukraine is the laser pointer and you saps are the cats, while our would be rulers accrete power and rob you blind.”

AS IS ALWAYS! Engineers are the Ralph Cramden’s of this world. If it was not for the fact that as a subspecies of mankind we love a challenge this entire world would be living in mud huts, still. As to Gab proper, they had the right mindset of total vertical integration but they did it underfunded. Doing a fiber, to iron, to code all up platform takes monumental bucks to pull off.

Nor is Twitter out of the woods yet. The same problems Gab face could befall Twitter as suppliers and ancillary services systems refuse to do business with them. Time will tell.

    4,5,

Sanctions did have an impact but not this time for the simple reason sanctions were levied against Russia back during their foray into Afghanistan. Those had impact that they worked around. That time it was on what they could buy in the global market. The current sanctions are based on what they can sell in the global market. Not quite as effective as there will always be willing buyers, just look at our war on drugs.

As to the former soviet union, they killed themselves by trying to keep up with the spending that Reagan launched in military arms. An economy a third our size just could not match it. But that was a communist state. We are engaged today in battle with another capitalist state. There is little vestiges of the old system left. And never underestimate the depths to which the Russians will accept privation for an end goal, ever.

    6,

Oh please do! I need a good chuckle.

    7,

Yep, Biden’s logo for the MoT right there and already broken.

    10,

The BidenMIC administration is needlessly and dangerously pushing Russia towards actualizing its nuclear threats.

    FIFY

    11,

    Indeed.

So Twitter under Libs — https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/twitter-misses-revenues-admits-over-stating-millions-users — was a fraud all the way to the bottom. Overstated subscriber reach in the millions. I would not want to be a Twitter board member right about now.

Twitter user numbers off by … millions AND huge numbers of users in the EU (more than in US?, well lots anyway). Gab observes that it is no wonder that Twitter follows EU censorship rules rather than US-based free speech.

I got a LibsOfTikTok link fwd’ed to me today. I like one of the commenters responses:
    “Darwinism has failed us”.
Apt. Completely apt. Though maybe an argument can be made that it’s early.

4 in House GOP, 4 Progressives Vote ‘No’ on Russian Oligarch Asset Seizure

AOC and MTG votes are aligned on this one.

A couple of comments I saw today:
“So is this how WW3 starts? With incompetent people in charge after a stolen election, including multiple high-ranking unqualified affirmative action tokens”

“were I Putin, I would take that House vote as supporting evidence, along with the military “advisor” assistance and “lend-lease” style supply of arms & materiel, that his country is indeed engaged in a military conflict with all of NATO and especially the USA. The House vote makes it official that our actions are not simply bad moves by a senile old man”

“We’re now a combatant. It’s gone past a passive resupply operation, we’re direct participants in military attacks against Russia.
Where’s the War Powers Act notification? Congressional debate?
    Insanity. “

    “Darwinism has failed us”.

We’re one of the few species on this planet that overtly protect members who could not function on our own. Strictly from a Darwinist point of view of course. As a practical matter we are better that we do protect those who cannot protect themselves.

DC college students say climate change and COVID-19 are top voting priorities
    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/d-c-college-students-weigh-in-on-top-priorities-for-midterm-elections-mentioning-covid-19-and-climate-change

One student told Fox News “abortion” is an important issue for him going into the midterm elections.

“My home state of Oklahoma just recently completely banned abortion which sucks for a lot of people,” he said. “A lot of people are going to die because of it.”
