A Major Disconnect – Elites vs. the Working Class

2023 March 16
by bc3b

War monger Lindsey Graham wants to shoot down Russian planes in international airspace. “If you ever get near another US asset flying in international waters, your airplane will be shot down,” he said, addressing the Kremlin’s leaders on Fox News.

Like many neocons and his late puppet master – John McCain – Miss Lindsey never saw a war he didn’t want the US to be part of. A former former JAG in the Air Force Reserve, the closest Graham came to danger was the night he tried to hit on a brunette’s husband at an officers club dance.

This is not the first time Graham has proposed that the US ramp up hostilities against the Kremlin. Last year, he called on Russians to kill Vladimir Putin to help end the Ukraine war.

“Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military?” Graham tweeted on March 4, 2022. Brutus was the historical Roman figure who killed Julius Caesar, while Claus von Stauffenberg was a German officer known for his failed assassination of Adolf Hitler.

Yet Graham is hardly the only member of congress that wants to give Zelenskyy a blank check and is willing to fight a nuclear war over Ukraine. And, the elite and the media fully support giving Ukraine everything Zelenskyy wants. The mainstream media has acted as Zelenskyy’s propaganda arm.

Fortunately, responses from potential Republican presidential candidates to a questionnaire from Tucker Carlson indicates that the serious Republican candidates want a negotiated peace and do not consider the Ukraine one of this country’s most important issues.

All of the three parties to the war — Moscow, Kyiv and Washington — are incentivized to continue the bloodshed. Putin views the outcome of the war as existential. Russia, which has seen its buffer zone with NATO reduced to as little as 100 miles after the Baltic states joined NATO in 2004, has drawn a red line over Ukraine. Russia’s capacity and manpower outmatch Ukraine’s, enabling Putin to continue a war of attrition.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy cannot back down either. His entire persona is wrapped up in the image of a wartime president and freedom fighter. Losing his status of international hero by capitulating to Putin would mean that Zelenskyy could no longer secure U.S. and European cash, on which his country is fully dependent for survival as Ukraine’s industrial capacity and agricultural base are destroyed.

President Biden must start thinking strategically, and fast. The Russia-Ukraine war is a local conflict between countries the U.S. does not have alliances with. He must consider the larger ramifications of his decision to become deeply involved in it and consequences that threaten the world order that has protected and enhanced U.S. national and economic security for decades.

The war in the Ukraine has already taken it’s toll on the United States:

  • We have given Ukraine >$115-billion at a time when our nation’s debt exceeds $30-trillion
  • The US has depleted its arsenal by sending so many weapons to the Ukraine and making us vulnerable
  • Biden has restarted the cold war and made Russia and China much closer allies
  • Our government has demonstrated that it cares more about Ukrainians than Americans. We have covered pensions for Ukrainians, but Biden still has not found time to visit East Palestine

Miss Lindsey also wants to invade Mexico. I agree the cartels need to be stopped, but invading Mexico is not the way to do it.

How many other conflicts does (s)he want the US involved in? Syria? Armenia? Yemen? Myanmar? Ethiopia? Republic of the Congo? Somalia?

Positive outcomes (for Biden) from a hot war:
    * Deep State can suspend many personal liberties
    * Some believe Biden wants to build his legacy as a war-time president (like FDR)

Not only RU and China, but also India, Iran, Brazil (until the Bolsonaro stolen election) and probably a dozen other nations are now exploring deeper alliances. I think Mexico inquired (!) but the Biden Admin threatened them.

Oh well. By the end of the Biden Admin our country will be in shambles.
We’ll have robust policies on pronouns, though, so we have that going for us …

Terrific article on banks and what makes a sound bank.
If you, like me, are hazy or ignorant about the differences between “time deposits” and “demand deposits”, you will want to read this. Completely clear and insightful.

It’s interesting that in the 2008 crisis, banks were criticized for making bad (for example, NINJA) loans and also for investing unloaned money badly.
    So they were told
    1) Tighten up loan requirements
    2) Invest in ONLY a small list of safe vehicles like US Bonds and MBSs (mortgage based securities).

    So here we are:
Borrowing was reduced due to the Covid crash
    Banks had a lot cash
Also people stashed away stimulus checks, and other helicopter money
Banks put the money in the “safe” list of investments
The Fed raised rates making those bonds OK only if held to maturity
    New failure mode …

Yet due to the CRA authorized by the same Pols they encouraged those NINJA loans.

The key thing to keep in mind about banking is that corporate finance is flipped. A corp having cash in a bank is an asset, but for the bank that is booked as liability. Loans in all its forms are the banks primary assets. Hopefully now, regulators understand that a bank having a large portfolio of high cash corporate clients is a risky thing. They can pull the cash out in a keystroke. And for us little people we should be asking what % of a banks position is business vs personal.

San Franciscans line up at board meeting to sing and shout their support for a reparations plan to give every black resident $5M, wipe personal debt, provide $97K incomes and homes for just $1 – and no one asks how the city will foot the bill

What an f’n joke. As I read elsewhere, they might as well be asking for magic unicorn blood as well. This whole thing has to be a psyop to seed division so when all this stuff is denied, the blacks will feel that they were robbed.

The demographics of SF are something like 50% Asian, 25% Hispanic, 20% self-hating whites, and 5% black. Once Asians and Hispanics take control from self-hating whites, the political whipsaw is going to be insane.

Some of the argument is just scarcity because there is only 1.9 million bitcoin left on exchanges so 51 billion would buy all of it up.

Of course that would cause the price to go up and more sellers but still.

False premise. For a bet to be legit is has to have an element of loss or its not a bet. So if the presenter bought 10 BTC @ $27k and the price stays at $27k and never reaches a $1m per BTC there was no loss, hence no bet. At the current environment I don’t see BTC dropping unless there is another FTX like event. Nothing against BTC in this view. The same could be said for a stock play or ‘bet’ on bonds; no loss is not a bet.

    But BTC is still fiat.

KH will find this interesting. A meeting of US experts agree with the assessment of critics. UA is losing, perhaps almost tottering. But they overwhelmingly believe the way forward is to make the Russian homeland a target and risk nuclear war.
Why Ukraine may embrace China’s peace plan

A gloomy assessment of Ukraine’s prospects for victory against Russia emerged from a recent private gathering of former top US soldiers, intelligence officials and scholars with resumes reaching from the Reagan to the Trump administrations.
Short of trained personnel and ammunition, one speaker argued, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky might consider a Chinese peace plan, especially after Beijing’s successful mediation of the Iran-Saudi dispute.

The great majority of participants favored risking everything for absolute victory over Russia.

It isn’t that Ukraine will literally run out of live bodies, but that the quality of its armed forces, enlisted men as well as officers, has deteriorated. Critical parts of the civilian economy will collapse as manpower is shifted to the military.

  64. 2023 March 21 4:22 am
    drdog09 permalink

Ukraine had two things going for it and is a reason it lasted as long as it did in this war:

    * UA used to be the Warsaw Pact 2nd largest armor and small arms production facility.
    * In the world there are only 5 food exporting countries — Argentina, US, Netherlands, Russia and.. Ukraine. Only 3 of them can sustain production long term — US, Russia and … Ukraine. Those 3 countries have the ability to turn nat gas to fertilizer. Being able to feed the populace while under attack is a critical force factor.

UA is now unfortunately a wreck. But I don’t think UA is the bigger loser in this war. Even with a settlement:

    * Putin loses politically, hence Russia itself loses. That will be the be the case even if the eastern regions become independent or not. He bargained the whole affair would be over in 2 weeks and lost. We can fully expect that the next RU prez will be a hardliner.

    * US loses big. This war exposed the US as a fickle partner. Willing to burn treasure but other peoples children in a proxy war. The US also loses its ‘neutral country’ card when it comes to attempting to bring parties together. More so if China is able to pull off a ceasefire. If I be a Euro leader I would be concerned.

The government had stayed silent on the matter until last month, when Justice Department lawyers said that any liability that Moderna faces should “transfer” to the United States government, citing a World War I-era law that protects federal contractors from patent disputes.

While the judge handling the case recently denied the request, Moderna and the federal government could appeal the decision and put taxpayers on the hook for any legal payout. Genevant, one of the companies that sued Moderna, has already accused the drug maker of “trying to shift responsibility for its patent infringement to the U.S. taxpayer.”

    1) EU leaders, Davos/WEF, UN, most Dems and US gov’t agencies
    2) Federal Reserve, US Banks

It might look lopsided but currently the Fed has the upper hand. By raising rates, EU banks are thrashed and money migrates to the US banks for safety.

Far from the only recent case. Far, far from.

BREAKING: A southwest pilot departing from Las Vegas become incapacitated mid flight. The pilot was removed from the flight deck mid flight and replaced with a non-southwest pilot who was on the plane.

This comes on the heels of the FAA decreasing the cardiac physical requirements for pilots, because so many failed.

Prepped? All of the big 4 TBTFs have a quadrillion in derivatives floating around. Not much prepping required as they issued it and hold it. The real battle is who dumps first. The first one out will get cover by their counter-party insurer. But everybody following gets bumpkis cuz the counter-party side will be tapped out. The Fed at this point is trying to guarantee a few survivors.

What I find interesting is the Fed is till trying to have its cake and eat it too. They did a .25 basis point raise yesterday. The Fed really need to decide — Do we save the banks or the economy. It appears they have still not made a decision. For example if they wanted to save the economy they would have dropped rates a full percentage point and just live with the resulting inflation.

    Seems about right.
The only solution is for Congress to cut way, way back on spending and, over time, get back on a sound footing.
JPow is doing the small thing that he can do: have a normal interest rate. Still, after years of ZIRP a lot of stuff is breaking.

So, personally, I don’t blame JPow. What he’s doing is sensible and not decisive anyway (But the globalists are calling for his scalp).
Still, I listened to an interesting analysis (Caitlyn Long?).
We had ZIRP for a long time. And after Covid there was plenty of helicopter money. Lots got stuffed into bank accounts. No one was borrowing, esp in the regional banks with access to smaller deals. So what to do with the deposited money? The regionals stuck it into …. safe govt bonds. And then, just like that, the Fed started hiking and those regionals were suddenly in a world of hurt.
Is it conspiracy theory to wonder if the Fed/Treasury/regulators/etc decided to crush all the smaller institutions, get everything coalesced to the Biggest Banks and then … roll out CDBCs? Easier to implement if all those pesky citizens are concentrated in a few banks, yes? I doubt this theory … just mention it in passing

The two national banks we had got dissolved in short order, both for political-financial reasons. You could say the same for the Fed.

If one believes the Fed is a force for good consider. Before 1913 the nation only had 3 down turns. After 1913 we have had one massive depression and 4 recessions since. The reset coming up will make depression number 2. Scrap’em.

That is a fair bet. But to just voice the counter argument — Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid. If I was in Congress I would be scared to death of a hyperinflation event. Imagine SS Cola increases of 10-20% per year hitting the budget. And of course the attendant increases in Medicare costs. It would dwarf every other budget item by orders of magnitude. Its the one line item that could bring the govt down.

For the Pols only two ways out of that — debt default or raise the requirements to such a stringent level that most would die before they could ever collect. If a debt default SS would be declared nonexistent. Stringent requirements would just mean most will never use SS so it might as well not exist.

Perhaps the most extraordinary thing about this state of affairs is that most Americans don’t know it’s happening. Most of their families and friends are led to believe that they just died—suddenly and unexpectedly—of acute conditions that were extremely rare in young people prior to 2021.

I watch a docudrama last night called ‘The Somme’, a WWI piece. On the first day of battle 20,000 Brits were killed, 40,000+ wounded. That is a single day. All tolled in the month long events that are considered the Battle of the Somme over a million men on both sides died. Nor am I attempting to belittle those than gave it all in Vietnam.

But in the scale of things, though Dowd is correct, the numbers on any given day are barely perceivable. That is the problem. “Still want to ban China’s Tik Tok?

Details of the new “Tik Tok Ban” Bill have emerged. Essentially, any platform that uses the internet in some way would fall under regulatory control – Gab, Telegram, etc. If you – an ordinary person – reaches a certain level of influence, you would be required to get a license, much like the current FCC Regs for shortwave radio. Then, it gets worse..

If you, the author or influencer, engages in commentary that is deemed harmful to US National Security, you can face up to a 20 year prison term and a $1 Million fine. What is defined as “harmful to US National Security?” So-called White Supremacy has been deemed a threat… White Nationalism… Christian Nationalism… in essence, advocating for your people (if you are White) and/or Biblical virtue can land you in prison based on this new law.

“When I say yes, I will get a settlement very quickly… I will have a settlement within 24 hours. Standing before you today, I’m the only candidate to make that promise. I will stand in the way of the Third World War we are heading for,” Trump said.

Trump also called the investigation against him a “witch hunt” and compared it to “the horrors of Stalin’s Russia”.

If most of what you do in the internet requires a ‘https://’ VPNs are unnecessary. And VPN’s don’t stop trackers.

” (K) e-commerce technology and services, including any electronic techniques for accomplishing business transactions, online retail, internet-cnabled logistics, internet-cnabled payment technology, and online marketplaces.”

That is how they get CBDCs in the front door. That has more impact than any tiktok video. Oh and PRP you can kiss BTC being available, at least in the US.

I forgot why I liked this guy…..I was pissed at all him picking dumbf$ck senate candidates giving the senate to the Democrats so I was leaning towards Desantis for a while but this stuff makes me move back to the Trump side.

Think about the case where a Christian shot and killed a half dozen unarmed, peaceful transgenders.
Would the reaction be the same?
Or would the companies put out statements?

How operation chokepoint 2.0 is targeting crypto. It’s actually targeting 30 industries including guns and ammo manufacturing and all conservative industries.

Why cant the right ever use this to destroy left wing industries?

PRP the simple answer is the Left does not ‘do’ industry, so there is nothing to destroy.
