CA High Speed Rail–the images are telling
https://capoliticalreview.com/capoliticalnewsandviews/californias-hsr-scar/
“YouTuber “the Four Foot” flew a drone over the entire 119-mile route last year and posted a two-hour video. The images are very telling.
The site looks more like an abandoned movie set of a high-speed rail construction site, than an actual construction site. There is a lot of rusting rebar, both in piles and sticking out of half-done concrete.
There’s not a whole lot of porta potties, only two locations had a high density of toilets. This is an indication of how many workers are (or aren’t) involved.
The other thing? There was no actual work happening in the video. It might have been a Sunday or holiday, but serious construction sites (like I 70 in Glenwood Canyon in the 80s) run 24/7”

More evidence that we are living in Clown World
https://capoliticalreview.com/top-stories/wildfire-prone-california-to-consider-new-rules-for-property-insurance-pricing/
Unlike other states, California does not let insurance companies consider current or future risks when deciding how much to charge for an insurance policy. Instead, they can only consider what’s happened on a property in the past to set the price.
At a time when climate change is making wildfires, floods and windstorms more common, insurers say that restriction makes it difficult to truly price the risk on properties. It’s one reason why, in the past year, seven of the top 12 insurance companies doing business in California have either paused or restricted new business in the state.

it just me or does the Ohio state fake breasts lady above look messed up. If she was flat as a board but normal it would look better. Just not a fan of this

The big three Unions have demanded a 150 grand a year plus their benefits for working in a factory. Probably was smart to have skipped law school and med school if they can get their goals.
No company can pay this of course, which is more proof that these unions are designed to destroy the company, run up huge retirement promises, and then demand the tax payers fund it all once they blow up the companies. Demented Joe is on his way to join the picket line
Elon is smart to avoid all of this with Tesla.

re:1 Not surprised at all, what a fucking disaster that entire project is, at least “the big dig” in boston while ridiculously expensive and time consuming (3-5x both from org I think), once complete would serve and is serving a purpose or two. Said project in CA always seemed a boondoggle for boondoggle sake, but who knows 25 years from now maybe it gets used or re-purposed, assuming it’s even complete by then.

Jim, every time we drive down the 99 to SoCal we get sickened and outraged by the massive WASTE of the Train to Nowhere.
By all accounts the cost will be over $120 BILLION, just to connect Bakersfield to Merced. The trains will run SLOWLY if they ever run, because some of the connections will be via existing roadbed which cannot support the proposed trains.
But the money is flowing…down the drain
[12]
Interesting weekend in college football. Ohio State beat Notre Dame at the end of the game. “Coach Pride” (Dion Sanders) learned what can happen when you play a really good team.
Central Michigan (a 17 point underdog) beat South Alabama with 8 seconds left. Central’s QB passed for one TD and ran for four TDs. The really amazing fact – he’s a white kid from the cornfields of Iowa.

Inspirational
As one of America’s frontline doctors, Dr. Immanuel had just testified as to the beneficial effects of using HCQ with her COVID-19 patients—keeping all but a few of them out of the hospital and managing to keep all of them alive. A reporter leaned in toward Dr. Immanuel in a mocking and intimidating manner after the conference and asked, “Aren’t you afraid of losing your license to practice?” Dr. Immanuel leaned forward and asked, “How many patients should I let die, so I can keep my license?”

Total bs. We tried hydroxychloroquine in the first month if the pandemic and it didnt do nothing. Same w ivermectin.
The occasional study that shows any promise w these thing is always flawed and the good studies always show they dont help.
[16]
The HCQ and IVM was purposely sabotaged by using it too late, or too low of a dose, or without the other drugs in the protocol.
Plus both are so light on side effects there was no danger to patients.
Consider reading about the book by Pierre Kory on ivermectin. The reaction by authorities who did not treat patients was over the top. Undeniably suspicious

The same sort of authorities who backed bleeding, phrenology, prefrontal lobotomies, leeches, …

FEMA and the FCC are planning a Nationwide Emergency Alert Test on Wednesday, October 4, 2:20pm ET (11:20am PT) for all cell phones and TVs. For more information, check out https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20230803/fema-and-fcc-plan-nationwide-emergency-alert-test-oct-4-2023.

We tried hydroxychloroquine at the beginning of the pandemic where I live. It caused a lot of cardiac arrhythmias, but other than that it didn’t do anything.
We also tried ivermectin not only at the beginning but for over a year. Our infectious disease doctors were using it as a substitute for remdesivir in patients who had renal failure or alternatively a liver issue that prevented remdesivir use.
Eventually the IDSA sent a letter to all its members specifically asking them to stop w the ivermectin stuff at which point they stopped.
Again neither one of those meds did squat, and both have been studied over and over without ever showing any benefit.
Again, we had a covid vaccine that was 95% effective much more effective than most vaccines.
The main problem we had was getting people to take it.

the things you mentioned from the past are why we started using evidence based medicine rather than having just letting experts decide what was best.
Also psychiatry is its own side group where probably nothing still makes sense, but they probably do a better job than just putting them in jail, which is the alternative or declaring them a “witch” or possessed.

Luke Gromen has a weird point today. He’s essentially saying rate hikes at thr moment are effectively stimmies bc the debt has to get monetized

They can miracles with photoshop and AI these days.
[23]
15,
Yeah, but ‘doing nothing’ does not help either. Remember the public health advice — “Don’t come unless you are really, really sick.” Which by that time it was too late for many. Fact it goes contrary to guidance which is treat early and often.
[24]
21,
He was only right up to the point of monetization. The only beneficiary of a rate hike is the govt. Not even the banks get any benefit. Yeah they can offer an 8% mortgage but they are already being creamed by the 10yr Treasury Notes they are holding, as the principal is being discounted on the bond.
RE is in a very precarious situation. The higher the rates go the less likely current homeowners will sell having a note a 2-3%. That impacts inventory. So the prices are holding steady for the moment because of the inventory short fall. As soon as the Fed backs off all hell is going to break loose.

The 90 freeway (Named the Richard Nixon freeway) runs from the 405 Freeway, to the west, ending at Lincoln Blvd. It allows a short cut from the Westside to the beach areas and Santa Monica. Tens of thousands of cars each day use it.

Interesting play by the Dims. Only, why would Kamala agree? But I won’t discount the projection, as politics is a strange game.

So the question is would a Trump – Kennedy ticket work? If it can, the two primary parties could see their own demise.

But it’s a good question.
