Black Liberal Describes Obama Failure

You know things are getting bad when a black liberal like Bob Herbert takes Barack Obama to task in the New York Times.

It’s getting harder and harder for most Americans, looking honestly at the state of the nation, to see the glass as half full. And that’s why the public opinion polls contain nothing but bad news for Barack Obama and the Democrats.

The oil gushing into the Gulf of Mexico, the war in Afghanistan and, above all, the continuing epidemic of joblessness have pushed the nation into a funk. All the crowing in the world about the administration’s legislative accomplishments — last year’s stimulus package, this year’s health care reform, etc. — is not enough to lift the gloom.

Mr. Obama and the Democrats have wasted the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity handed to them in the 2008 election. They did not focus on jobs, jobs, jobs as their primary mission, and they did not call on Americans to join in a bold national effort (which would have required a great deal of shared sacrifice) to solve a wide range of very serious problems, from our over-reliance on fossil fuels to the sorry state of public education to the need to rebuild the nation’s rotting infrastructure.

All of that could have been pulled together under the umbrella of job creation — short-term and long-term. In the immediate aftermath of Mr. Obama’s historic victory, and with the trauma of the economic collapse still upon us, it would have been very difficult for Republicans on Capitol Hill to stand in the way of a rebuild-America campaign aimed at putting millions of men and women back to work.

ya but, the NY Times (and Herbert) will still support every Marxist policy Barry dishes out…and then whine about the results.

    2012 can’t come soon enough…after Novermber 2010, that is

I read this op-ed and couldn’t believe it was written by Bob Herbert. Perhaps Herbert is ashamed of what Obama is doing.

Sad state of affairs that the color of one’s skin determines whether or not it is racist to point out Obama’s many failures.

Or is it that Herbert is just ashamed that Obama is mismanaging the Liberal Agenda to the Liberal determent? Winning at the ballot box is one thing, being successful is another thing altogether.

What I meant to say is that perhaps Bob Hebert (as a black man) Barack Obama is embarrassing him/

Congressman Luis Gutieres is on Greta. That man is a living, breathing, walking caricature.

I think Hebert’s koolaid has worn off, and he’s beginning to sober up. As an analogy, he and the other liberals (black and white) partied for a year and a half, then found themselves passed out with their tongues stuck to the barroom floor.

It is a rude awakening. Adding to the remorse of sobriety, Hebert’s great black hope of Obama as the first AA president is now going down as the worst president in history, never to be caught in that race to the bottom.

“Sunday morning coming down,” as Johnny Cash might sing.

I have been over on http://newzeal.blogspot.com/, after hearing Glenn Beck talk so highly of it. Worse than we think people, what he has posted. But there are glimmers of hope.

How come Herbert makes no mention of Obama’s ignoring of the wide open southern border?

Seems to me that any reasonable and thoughtful person might see there MIGHT be a connection between providing jobs for Ameircans (Black, White, or whatever)and stopping the wide open flood of illegal persons streaming into the US.

And even if Herbert cannot see the job connection, Herbert should be able to do the math and see that government costs associated with providing illegals government services and dealing with added costs brought by the flood of illegals (crime, drugs, prisons, court costs, etc.)–those costs, at least in his mind, could be redirected to help address the needs of the Black community and well as needs of the white community.

RWY – exactly. It is all about power and control. Not helping the people or making people better off. Just raw power.

rwy…spot on. The Left’s frustration with Obama is that he hasn’t herded us into Re-Education Kamps…yet.

I think the fact that Herbert made a distinction between only “41,000 private sector jobs” being created, versus the 240,000 some jobs (mainly census workers) the administration is always crowing about, shows that Herbert is seeing Obama more for what he is rather than what he thought he was. It is a crack in the media fawning, and, I for one am pleased to see it!

It’s a $7,400 human rights violation to have to see a cross in school.

On your knees, fools! Your culture mean nothing to us.

oh and I am sure in Muslim regions of EU countries all the schools are 100% free of any muslim imagery of any kind.

and if any by chance did slip through, I am sure this European “high court” would also find that to be a major human rights violation and award big damages to anybody who happened to see an image of Muslim culture.

Thanks, Mo. My daughter and I were just reading (last week in fact) about Booker T., and the differences between him and W.E.B. Du Bois. Their approach to racism was so different, and Booker T. had it right on the money. Too bad W.E.B’s approach is the one prevalent in today’s society.
