This Perfect Life

The first TAX permitted by Benedict Roberts (aka: Chief Justice of SCOTUS) is the one stated in the ObamaCare 2,700 page monstrosity: have insurance or pay a tax for NOT having it. There will be a chart that your income and age will be plotted on, and the degree to which you fall outside the “optimum” will determine what you will be required to pay for not having it. Very scientific.

But that is NOT the only chart being drawn up or at least envisioned.

The charts being drawn up are those that will identify the “optimum” of EVERYTHING to achieve a Perfect Life…and allow your characteristics to be plotted against that “optimum”.  No one will say you HAVE to do all those things…the government will simply TAX you if you DON’T!

You’ve all seen charts like the BMI (Body Mass Index) chart shown. This one is a no-brainer, and fits perfectly into the ObamaCare “taxing inactivity” scheme. Stay in the “Green” zone and no additional tax. STRAY, in either direction, and pay a “tax”. Since ObamaCare mandates (that word again) that all medical records be centralized and made available to the government real-time, your “doctor” will be required to provide everything necessary to ensure you are plotted.  Stray from the “Green” zone…pay a TAX!

Now imagine every other “optimum” that some Progressive either already has, or soon will identify.

Consumption of:

  • Coffee
  • Soft drinks
  • Fast food
  • Alcohol
  • Meat
  • Vegetables
  • Eggs
  • Etc

Your personal data will be on the X and Y axis, and where they meet will determine your allotment of that “consumable”.  The degree to which you stray from the optimal range (too much or too little) will determine your TAX!

Same for activities (exercise, reading, going to the movies, church attendence, etc), possessions (vehicles…including type, guns, applicances, electrical devices, etc), miscellaneous (pets, friends, children, etc).  Someone will helpfully identify the OPTIMUM for everything, plot you against the optimum…and TAX the degree to which you do not conform.  And it’s all to help Y-O-U lead the PERFECT LIFE!

See how easy this is? Soon, Congress (with the help of Progressive Think-Tanks) will take all the guess-work out of living!  Don’t want to (or can’t) conform? No problem…just pay the TAX!

Ira Levin wrote a chilling book titled: ‘This Perfect Day’, in the vein of ‘Brave New World’ and ‘1984’. Not satisfied with just ensuring you have a “Perfect Day”, our new masters are going to ensure we have a Perfect Life…whether we like it or not! What about Freedom, you say? Nah…Freedom is messy and Imperfect!

This just in from our `friends` at OFA —

    Friend —

Romney and the Republicans announced yesterday that they brought in more than $100 million in June.

For context, that’s about what we raised in April and May combined.
    —————————

Its hell to suck canal water ain’t it Mr. Messina?? I would also suggest to the OFA crowd that if they only get $3 donations they need a bunch of them! Or have they not thought of that??

Maybe some legal eagle can explain to me how the ObamaCare is legal as a tax?

“Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States…” — Art1Sec2

ObamaCare is not a income tax but is a direct tax. But as a direct tax it is being applied to the individual and not apportioned. Yeah I know, I am just one of those that Big Sis classifies as a terrorist.

Either (1) OFA is having a very difficult time implementing their unidentified donor, pre-paid credit card program, or (2) they send out these little missives just before they do an additional round of faking donations.

Why do I think this? Who are Obama supporters? There are the liberal elites who have already maxed out and bundled as much as they can (see George Clooney going to Switzerland for a fundraiser) and that ever increasing group of people who look for their gimmies. These folks are takers… not donors and their life long attitude is that those they believe have power or money owe them.

    O/T…but unintentionally hillarious!

Yahoo”News” (a wholly owned subsidiary of the DNC) has this BREATHLESS headline up now:
Big names among Republicans planning to skip GOP convention

And then you go to the link and find out WHO the “Big names” are:
Jon Huntsman, Linda McMahon among Republicans planning to skip GOP convention

    WHOA!!!!!!! Really???

On the Democrat side, sitting SENATORS, GOVERNORS and CONGRESS-Critters are skipping the Democrat Convention, including some from North Carolina…the state the damn thing is being held in!!!!!!!!!!!!

The economy created just 80,000 jobs in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. But that same month, 85,000 workers left the workforce entirely to enroll in the Social Security Disability Insurance program, according to the Social Security Administration.

“As Investors Business Daily further notes, that isn’t the exception in the Obama recovery, but the rule:

The disability ranks have outpaced job growth throughout President Obama’s economic recovery. While the economy has created 2.6 million jobs since June 2009, fully 3.1 million workers signed up for disability benefits.

After three years of stimulus spending, bailouts and green jobs “investments” what Obama has to show for his record is low employment rates and sky-high levels of government dependence.”

No DrDog — it isn’t constitutional as a tax because it is not apportioned.

The Roberts opinion will probably surpass Roe v. Wade as bad law. In Roe v. Wade Stephens thought he was writing an opinion to protect privacy between doctor and patient and not this constitutional right to murder. What Roberts did would have been the equivalent of writing the opinion knowing that murder was illegal but manipulating the definition of murder to not mean ending life.

Here is what will happen when your “number” on the Death Panel chart makes your life “cost prohibative” ie you are no longer a productive SLAVE for the State:

    http://www.thedailybell.com/4060/Suicide-Is-Painless

“What’s that agenda? Well, it’s an increasingly transparent one at this point and has to do with the power elite’s campaign to create conditions under which the elderly will be mercifully euthanized once they are no longer useful to society.

Simpson, of course, won’t come out and explain it this way, though there is almost no doubt he harbors such sentiments. The BBC is an instrument of public policy and such policy in Britain is determined by those elites that have been trying to instigate ritual killing of the elderly for decades.”

#8 You are exactly correct, and our “bevelolent” government looks to expand that killing on an industrial scale real soon:

“If there is any reluctance it is probably only because such pols are well aware that support for voluntary killing of the elderly may eventually subject them to the same. In fact, that is the way such programs work. They start small and end up big.

Once you have justified killing as a social good, there is only a question of qualifications not of morality. And because it is government, you can bet those qualifications will grow.

Where does it stop after all?

Once a person’s life is subject to a cost-benefit analysis, the possibility of ghastly crimes grows exponentially.

What is to stop government from deciding that people with disabilities are a drain on society’s coffers and ought to be done away with?

What is to stop government from deciding that even young people with certain diseases or syndromes are candidates for extinction?”

First abortion, now death panels…….pretty soon much more……

How many people are planning to be honest with their doctors from this point forward, if they have been completely honest up until now? Answering my own question in a way….I had a routine check up with one of my doctors, and she asked me a series of questions. I was honest in my answers. For the last 10 months I have gotten a bill for that visit, which should have been free (after my co-pay anyway), and I have refused to pay it, because someone in their billing department screwed up…or so I thought.

Every month I get the same call about the bill, every month I tell them to shove it…UNTIL this most recent month. I got the same “when are you going to pay this bill” call, and after explaining AGAIN that my insurance company says the bill was erroneous, they still pushed the issue. Then…the mask slipped. I told this new caller what the visit was for, she told me the visit was for something else. I explained that in no uncertain terms was this visit for something else, and she said the following: “when the doctor asked you xyz, you told her xyz, so she changed the nature of the visit from a routine visit to one that required blood to be drawn (I’m fine) so it billed you as though you had been concerned about xyz. I told her “so let me get this straight…because I answered a question honestly, I am being charged?”. She promptly hung up, and this month….TADA!!!! the bill shows as covered by insurance, under the correct coding. What did I learn from this? Never get involved in a land war in Asia, and never be honest with your doctor.

What will be step two, because certainly Obama knows I am right about this? CLUB CARDS. Yep. Those fantastic little money savers will soon bite all of us in the rear. I’ll start taking bets on this now.

I did a little fact checking on diseases that could be considered a permanent disability. Permanent disability means that you have no prospects for cure or improvement beyond 12 months.

I know we are going to need to pass a law re-evaluating disabilities every 12 months given this swamping of the roles.

My dear departed sister was on social security disability for the last year of her life and it was because she had no less than 3 qualifying illnesses, one of which left her in constant pain and was incurable. She resisted quiting work and filing for disability until it was impossible for her to hold a job.

I am not sure how many people are diagnosed with various disease but I did look at the cancer statistics. Approximately 100,000 a people are diagnosed with some type of cancer every month, and 60% of these people are over 65. So if all 40,000 people diagnosed with cancer 12 months ago filed for permanent disability and were granted it, does this mean there are another 45,000 additional people to determine what malady keeps them from being able to work.

Of course the lawyers have moved into this booming business of filing appeals for those denied SSD.

I don’t fault those who are truly disabled; however, you known that the massive increase in the number filing disability are just people who exceeded their 99 weeks unemployment. There are people who have been hurt and can no longer do the job they once did. I would hope, in a better economy, those people could receive training for a new type of job.

In 2006 550,000 people were granted disability and approximately the same were denied.

If 3.1 million have been granted disability since June 2009 — this averages out to 1,550,000 per year of 3x the rate prior to Obama taking office.

Also, I read that 75% of those who have a hearing before an Administrative Judge are granted disability.

Having heard all about Robert’s opinion, both criticizing it and excusing it, I still cannot understand how the CJ could rewrite obamacare’s mandate to become a tax, and further, to ignore the lack of a severability clause when the medicaid law was ruled unconstitutional. It just seems void of common sense and jurisprudence.

That being said, I wonder about the magnitude of the payoff. A hundred million, a billion? One can only imagine that even a payoff of that size is peanuts compared to the construct of the legislation. Soros pulls a lot of strings.

    Next question….When will Roberts retire?

    I’m thinking before next term.

JM, ALWAYS question medical billing. 80% of all billings sent out are incorrect. When I landed in the hospital the institution wanted to bill for 6 cat scans rather than the 4 I had. I remember that clearly, the damn imaging fluid hurts like hell. They kept insisting. I told them to produce the images right now, on screen, all six of them. Odd that, they could only find four…. Funny how the bill changed after that.

mullet – we crossed the rubicon some time ago. The law does not mean what we thought it meant.

A tax and spending bill (Health Care) initiated by the Senate (when all tax and spending bills are to originate in the House).

The Supreme Court first decided (1st day) that it was a mandate. Because if it was a tax bill, the court could not decide it until the tax took place and the harm was incurred.

Then we have a Chief Justice rewrite the bill to in his decision to mean what he wants it to mean.

We have a Piece of Shit as president make an executive order on illegal immigrants that by passes the congress and refuses to follow the rule of law on carrying out his duties in enforcing those laws.

The Rule of Law applies only to those willing to follow it. Even our elected officials make no pretense of following the law. We are on the path to chaos and anarchy.

If this path continues, I am dropping off the grid and I will follow what laws I want to follow.

They say that there are 2 things certain in this life – death and taxes. I am here to tell you that there is ONLY 1 thing certain – death. And I can pick the time and place for that (Good Lord willing) and WHO gets to go with me.
