RNC Autopsy = A Jumbo Blunder

2013 March 22
by bc3b

It was just last Saturday when in his CPAC keynote address Ted Cruz talked about a secret that the media didn’t want the American people to know – that the GOP and conservatives have been winning for the past three weeks (with the sequester and Rand Paul’s filibuster).

The winning streak Senator Cruz discussed didn’t last long as Reince Priebus, RNC chair, chose to air the Republican Party’s laundry publicly at the National Press Club as he unveiled an “autopsy” of the 2012 election, a national election that was very winnable but that Priebus and the Republican establishment blew big time. It seems that the primary purpose of the autopsy was to redirect the blame to the more conservative elements of the GOP. It was like a doctor who murdered his wife performing the autopsy.

Michael Goodwin took Priebus to task in his column in the New York Post.

The criticisms flash by in rapid fashion: Poorly timed. Dumb. Out of touch. Suicidal.

No, that’s not how a new report describes the flaws of the Republican Party. Instead, those words describe the party leaders who wrote and released the report. They even called it an “autopsy.”

Talk about a death wish.

Their action is the political equivalent of the New Coke debacle: Trashing your existing product and, by extension your customers, as a way to introduce a better product and get new customers.

The GOP self-flagellation will no doubt work just as well as that historic flop.

Public Relations 101 teaches never to repeat a problem you’re denying, so the report’s authors deserve an “F” in marketing.

They didn’t merely make the work of liberal critics easy. They did their work for them.

The opposition ads write themselves: The GOP is ideologically rigid and indifferent to the middle class. It said so itself!

(snip)

Readers of the report who voted for Obama would conclude they made the right decision, while readers who voted for Romney would doubt their choice.

Without directly saying so, the 100-page document also oozes contempt for the Tea Party, which is odd on several levels. Without the Tea Party, Republicans would be a minority in the House.

And it’s the Tea Party, not the Washington establishment, that has produced most of the GOP’s leading minority members. Think Cuban-American Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida and Ted Cruz of Texas, and Indian-American Govs. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana and Nikki Haley of South Carolina. And it was Haley who appointed Tim Scott to replace the retiring Jim DeMint, making Scott the first black senator from the South since the 19th century.

The rage from many on the right reflects the ways the report foolishly incorporates liberal criticism that the most conservative members of the GOP are the problem. The result, for now, is that the clumsy effort to unite the party actually makes a split more likely.

It’s not easy being worse than Michael Steele, but I’m up to the challenge.

A week ago I felt pretty good about the GOP but after the “autopsy” and Rand Paul’s amnesty pandering before the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce I don’t feel so good any more.

In 2016, for the first time in my life, it’s very possible that I won’t be voting for the GOP Presidential candidate.

well, the GOP needs a “post-mortem”…but you should NEVER conduct these in full view of the public! The GOP is indeed the “Stoooopid Party” these days.

My guess is that Reince Priebus and the GOP establishment wanted to shift blame for the 2012 defeat from himself and the GOP establishment to conservatives.

You can bet that people like Karl Rove, Mike Murphy, Ed Gillespie and Ed Gillespie (who all played a role in the 2012 fiasco) had a hand in writing the “autopsy.”

good point, bc3b…the “Karl Rove” wing of the GOP (which is, sadly, MOST of the GOP) is much more concerned with their own stature, than in the future of this country.

but since 2016 is meaningless to me…the GOP can fold its tent for all I care.

I want somebody to start (or take over) a Party I can support!

    (1) SECURE the freaking borders (and THEN we can talk about “Comprehensive Immigration Reform”)
    (2) SHRINK government to balance the budget…except DEFENSE (where we better start planning on WINNING the next war, ’cause our enemies sure are)
    (3) HONOR the Constitution! Period!
    (4) FLAT-TAX…no deductions…and then get government O-U-T of the “Marriage Business”. Period!
    (5) ABOLISH the Departments of Education and Energy (and then abolish a few more, but those two are the most nefarious, IMHO)
    (6) RESTRICT the Department of “Homeland Security” to enforcing the borders (see #1 above) and acting as an information clearing house for law enforcement…PERIOD!

Government should NOT be in the “Social Engineering” business

    that’s a start!

The caption on the pic of the RNC chair really hit home. I used to think the GOP could sink no lower than selecting Steele. At this point Steele appears near Olympian in stature compared to Priebus. Whereas Steele was just gaffe prone, and lacking in telegenics, Priebus is in the mold of totally clueless.

Yup, the DNC puts pit-bulls up…and whether they make sense or not, they SNARL & FIGHT, they tear up the furniture, and piss on everything!!!

The RNC puts up toy-poodles…that tinkle politely and have tiny little farts that go “poof”. And even THEN the media accuses the RNC of not being docile enough!

We need Patton, we get Priebus.

“Out in the West Texas town of El Paso …”

Three armed felons crossed the US border and attempted to rob an off-duty El Paso police officer dressed in civilian clothes while he stood in front of a bank. The plan was for two of them to grab his backpack and toss it to an accomplice on a stolen motorcycle. However, the well prepared police officer shot all of them, killing two immediately. The third was shot in both arms and bled to death before the ambulance arrived.

    bang

This is how much the US Taxpayer would have had to pay to prosecute these thugs:

    · Arrest and detention for 1 night = $6,000

    · Transportation for deportation back to Mexico the next day = $1000

    · Air time for Obama to apologize in 30 minute speech = $25,007,000

    What it actually cost:

    · Four .40 rounds = $1.00

    · Taxpayer savings = $25,006,999.00

Apparently They Picked The Wrong Man to Rob This Time. And There Won’t Be A Next Time!

THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A 911 CALL IS 4 MINUTES.
THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FOR A .40 S&W ROUND IS ABOUT 1200 FEET PER SECOND.

I LOVE TO READ THESE STORIES WITH SUCH HAPPY ENDINGS.

I ran across this marvelous quote today:

“People who bite the hand that feeds them usually lick the boot that kicks them.
    Eric Hoffer

Obama WANTS them “biting the GOVERNMENT hand that feeds them”…for he knows they will indeed lick his boot when he kicks them with it! They are HIS army…and he is eager to see them used. Will they fail? Of course. He doesn’t intend for them to succeed…just to give him the excuse to declare himself Savior!

I will not comply and I will not participate. Just because all of the other idiots decide to become lemmings does not mean you have to.

Shared with a co-worker about Cyprus (he did not know) and their plans to tax savings, his response was why save! Even though he was unaware of the situation, he did know enough to know it was incredibly stupid to tax savings. He could see bank runs and a potential for banks to collapse. Yet the educated idiots set this mess up. If you buy into conspiracy theories – you can believe this was NOT by accident.

    bc3b – one word – “YES”.

    Kasich is DONE.

    Portman is DONE.

Myself and a few people I know WONT be voting for Kasich when he comes up for re-election and we WONT be voting for Portman either.

Kasich has done more than his share of STUPID. He could have soften the public employees bargaining legisation BUT allowed the idiots to make it hard on Police & Fire which resulted in it being over turned at the ballot.

Lately, he has signed on to expanding Medicaid (the idiot said he did not want Ohio’s share of Federal funds going to other states). Yet does not know how he is going to make up for the loss of Federal funds in 3 years when the funding goes away BUT the people on the rolls don’t.

Next he has talked about taxing services and taxing the profits from fracking AND then reducing income taxes.

Kasich has the habit of acting without consulting others.

Portman I did not like from day one. I knew his history with the Bushes. That right there told me RINO BIG TIME. With the gay thing – he is done. He might win the primary BUT he wont get re-elected. Too many social conservatives felt betrayed.

With these other actions – civil war between the leadership and the base. Does this sound familiar.

Much like what JR said, I am done. I will be voting issues BUT most likely voting 3rd party here out.

I will not comply and I will not participate.

I am reading this article — http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-03-22/cyprus-collapses-its-race-mediterranean-gas-finish-line — and I ask. Are the intelligensia of the Eurocrats that stupid???

The answer is an unqualifed yes. I was not aware that the Cyprus buyin was part of a Gas-for-Cash deal but apparently is. Cyprus did not like that deal and so tried to swing a deal with Russia, the has so far fallen flat. But wait, forget the financial crisis what about the geopolitical aspects???

Most of the countries in the Euro get a good chunk of their industrial fuels from Russia. So how smart is it to antagonize both Russia and cut yourself off from a potential gas source off the Cyprus coast? Dumb. Even dumber that Russia does not see the opportunity to quanrantine off an alternate soure of fuel for the Eurocrats. (Unless the Russkies think they can swing an even better deal when the bank run is in full flower….)
