FY 2016 Debt Increased by $12,036 per Household

The debt increased under Barack Obama more than it has under all previous presidents combined. While Obama is the primary culprit, there is plenty of blame to go round and Congressional Republicans share that blame. While Republicans campaigned on reducing the debt and cutting spending, they made no effort to do either. First John Boehner caved to Barack Obama and now Paul Ryan is following in Boehner’s footsteps. Both Boehner and Ryan have been so terrified of shutting down the government and media criticism that they were totally cowed.

The debt per household is up to $165,575 per household (nearlyt the average value of a home (if you don’t live in California). And with Hillary’s plans for free tuition, a 550% increase in refugees and virtually open borders, it’s really going to soar.

(CNSNews.com) – In fiscal 2016, which ended on Friday, the federal debt increased $1,422,827,047,452.46,according to data released today by the U.S. Treasury.

At the close of business on Sept. 30, 2015, the last day of fiscal 2015, the federal debt was $18,150,617,666,484.33, according to the Treasury. By the close of business on Sept. 30, 2016, the last day of fiscal 2016, it had climbed to $19,573,444,713,936.79.

According to the Census Bureau’s latest estimate, there were 118,215,000 households in the United States as of June. That means that the one-year increase in the federal debt of $1,422,827,047,452.46 in fiscal 2016 equaled about $12,036 per household.

The total federal debt of $19,573,444,713,936.79 now equals about $165,575 per household.

The increase in the federal debt in fiscal 2016 was larger than it might have been had Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew not declared what the government calls a “debt issuance suspension period” on March 16, 2015 and kept it going until Nov. 2, 2015–when President Barack Obama signed the “Bipartisan Budget Act,” a spending deal he had cut with the Republican leaders in Congress.

During the “debt issuance suspension period,” the Treasury used what it calls “extraordinary measures” to freeze that portion of the federal debt then subject to a legal limit set by Congress at a level just below that legal limit.

These “extraordinary measures” largely amounted to changing the way the government accounted for government employee retirement funds, including the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund, the Postal Service Retiree Health Benefits Fund, and the Government Securities Investment Fund of the Federal Employees’ Thrift Savings Plan.

While using its “extraordinary measures,” the Treasury said that the portion of the “debt subject to the limit” was frozen at $18,112,975,000,000 for 233 straight days.

The day Obama signed the budget deal, the total federal debt jumped from $18,152,981,685,747.52 to $18,492,091,120,833.99—a one-day climb of $339,109,435,086.47.

The budget deal suspended the debt limit until March 15, 2017.

“Hi. This is the President. Is Senator Lieberman in?”
“Not today, Sir. This is Yom Kippur.”

“Well, hello, Yom. Can I leave a message?”

    1. Continuing resolutions left the 2009 stimulus spending in place. Shovel ready jobs times seven years.

    Rock on.

    3,

If Trump is bumped off, we get Pence. It Hillary is bumped off, we get Kaine. Considering the options I would vote Trump too.

    DNC bumper sticker —

    Kaine and Unable.

Mike Gallagher was commenting this morning that rather than congratulating Mike Pence for mopping the floor with Kaine, the #NeverTrumpers were bashing Donald Trump.

I think there will be a permanent division between the likes of Bill Kristol, Stephen Hayes, Mark Levin, Erick Erickson, etc. and the pragmatic conservatives.,

    8,

Sturdy would be the word I would use.

    7,

There does need to a peaceful purge. Those that fashion themselves as a party member for the sole purposes of raising funds for their personal ambitions need to go. How it would be achieved is above my payscale.

the newest absolutely MADE UP bullshit being spewed by the media: “Trump was upset Pence did so well”.

if you said: “Wait…WHAT?!?” you responded correctly! This meme is being pushed HARD by every Leftist media outlet (i.e., pretty much ALL of them).

I cannot imagine even the dimmest bulbs buying this…but it’s hard to underestimate the intelligence of the Left.

Oh, and some on the Left are complaining about PENCE’S behavior during the debate. What’s the complaint? That Pence looked “self-assured”. I am NOT making that up!

    JR #11 –

People who counted interruptions say that Pence was interrupted more than 100 times by Kaine and the pro-Democratic moderator.

Moderators are never criticized for openly working to help the Democrat/make the Republican look bad, but Matt Lauer came under attack a few weeks back for asking Hillary some semi-difficult questions.

Kind of like the US media reports black criminals as “youths.”

    New proposal…

Kill the VP debates and have only 2 Prez debates.

Kill the moderated debates, and give the candidates 10 questions prepared by the other side. To maintain order, use a timer and a trained monkey with a bullwhip.

My kind proposal for future presidential debates —

    * The Desk Resolute is placed in the center of the stage.
    * The time keeper sits at the desk.
    * A coin is tossed as to who goes first. If the matchup is with a sitting president the challenger calls the toss.
    * The Contestants are standing next to the wings of the desk. No podiums. No chairs. (Another words a setting very much like the house of commons debates in UK.)
    * Each Contestant gets 5 minutes for opening remarks. Who goes first is based on the coin toss.
    * After opening remarks debate begins. 1 minute for remark, 2 minutes for rebuttal. Pace is chess grand master style. First Contestant to fail to complete an interrogative ends the debate.
    * Each Contestant gets 5 minutes for summary remarks. Who goes first is based on who failed the interrogative, the opportunity going to their opponent.

There is no moderator. There is only a time keeper using a chess clock.

    My idea of proper debate.

#1 – Absolutely incorrect, the last real budget was FY 2009, passed in 2008, everything since has been CR’s.

    13 – lol – 46.5 / 42.9 actually, and continued improvement for Hillary. 🙂
Both improved in intention to vote, Hillary improved against in the predicted to win by voters regardless of how they decided to vote.
