Trump will be President. There is a reason for that called Electors.

The first thing to realize is that States were the creator of the Federal government and still its owner. True even though it may not appear that way today. The second thing to keep in mind was that two hundred and fifty years ago travel was hard. It made sense to have state representatives carry forward the results of the States vote. These representatives are called Electors. The actual text is — http://www.heritage.org/constitution/#!/articles/2/essays/80/electoral-college

There was one larger reason that the US has an electoral college. The leaders feared a Mob. Not mafia, but mobs like we see in the streets today. They feared that someone like a Trump but much worse might win an overwhelming popular vote in a handful of States while the rest of the country objected to that result. By design a potential President must win a majority of the States electoral vote count not the popular vote. The electoral college is also a last ditch effort to prevent a tyrant should it be discovered that there was massive voting fraud. Electors this year will meet on December 19th to cast their States ballot.

It may sound unfair that a candidate can win the popular vote but not the presidency. It does not happen too often and when it does the popular vote difference is very small. But those who run for the presidency know these rules going in and they adjust their campaigning to allow for it. Imagine if there was no electoral college. Candidates would focus entirely on the following States — California, Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Those are the seven most populated States and would be sufficient to win a popular vote. All the other States would then be ignored.

    A recent benefit of the electoral college is that it’s a check against states with huge numbers of non-citizens (aka illegal aliens), lax voting requirements and that actually encourage them to vote. Yes, I am talking about Kalifornia.

    Kalifornia has 55 electoral votes, no matter how many illegal aliens are allowed to vote.

    Today the mail brings . . .

    News Update from Canada

    The flood of Trump-fearing American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week. The Republican presidential campaign is prompting an exodus among left-leaning Americans who fear they’ll soon be required to hunt, pray, pay taxes, and live according to the Constitution.

    Canadian border residents say it’s not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, liberal arts majors, global-warming activists, and “green” energy proponents crossing their fields at night.

    “I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn,” said southern Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. “He was cold, exhausted and hungry, and begged me for a latte and some free-range chicken. When I said I didn’t have any, he left before I even got a chance to show him my screenplay, eh?”

    In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences, but the liberals scaled them. He then installed loudspeakers that blared Rush Limbaugh across the fields, but they just stuck their fingers in their ears and kept coming. Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals just south of the border, pack them into electric cars, and drive them across the border, where they are simply left to fend for themselves after the battery dies.

    “A lot of these people are not prepared for our rugged conditions,” an Alberta border patrolman said. “I found one carload without a single bottle of Perrier water, or any gemelli with shrimp and arugula. All they had was a nice little Napa Valley cabernet and some kale chips. When liberals are caught, they’re sent back across the border, often wailing that they fear persecution from Trump high-hairers.

    Rumors are circulating about plans being made to build re-education camps where liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer, study the Constitution, and find jobs that actually contribute to the economy.

    In recent days, liberals have turned to ingenious ways of crossing the border. Some have been disguised as senior citizens taking a bus trip to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half-dozen young vegans in blue-hair wig disguises, Canadian immigration authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior citizens about Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney to prove that they were alive in the ’50s.

    “If they can’t identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we become very suspicious about their age,” an official said.

    Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an organic-broccoli shortage, are buying up all the Barbara Streisand CD’s, and are overloading the internet while downloading jazzercise apps to their cell phones.

    “I really feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just can’t support them,” an Ottawa resident said. “After all, how many art-history majors does one country need?

    “Bill Still about stealing the EC — ”

    Doubt that would matter much at this point. Every appointment, judge, etc would be blocked. Would be lame duck for 4 years with investigations.

    Then we win midterms big with supermajority. Win more state governments.

    Would be bad, but in the end it would probably be a worse scenario for them.

    I watched that EC video in #12, drdog…I wasn’t worried, but felt better afterwards 🙂

    Even the Clintons and the Dems wouldn’t dare to try this. It would go beyond Constitutional Crisis, to CWII in a heartbeat.

    But I’m sure the Dems have discussed it anyway. 👿

    21 & 29 – Bigger fish for Trump to fry in my opinion. This was not a burning platform in this election. Appoint the right Supremes, and let nature take its course over time, rather than seeking a no-win legislative solution.

    Well guys, Trump never foisted that he was a values candidate. Roe v Wade will never be overturned but it can be defeated. Just like Obamacare is collapsing under its own weight, abortions can be defeated by showing women that its not ‘a clump of cells’ but a living person just within weeks of conception.

    Remember, Liberals abort future liberals. Right thinking people raise Right thinking people.

    Sticks to his professed list, no problem at all.

    We are not going to get everything on the laundry list and if you think about it Trumps list of “do’s” was pretty short. —

    * 2nd Amendment protection.
    * Build the wall and deport criminal illegals.
    * Lower the tax rates.
    * SCOTUS with conservative judges.
    * Get the economy moving.

    That was it.

    I agree with JBoz, let the courts figure it out over time. Get more conservatives on the court and it will be reconfigured as to what is marriage and other social issues.

    The 1st 100 days you want to get the economy moving. Jobs, jobs, jobs – tax cuts, eliminate unnecessary regulations, curtail big government and free up the economy. Go after health care which will free up discretionary money and redefine full time to 40 hours vs 29 hours will help a lot of people. All of this will help small business which is the real engine of the American economy.

    The rest can come with time BUT get the economy moving first which will help the average American the most.

    22 – duly noted pepsi-co… hope it’s noted beyond just consumers but among Trump supporter owned retail and restaurant outlets as well.

    Time for backlash of our own liberal boycott style – only carry pepsi-co products I pick a different place to eat. And even if she walks it back…fuck them, they’ve showed their stupidity, the fact she hasn’t been fired already by the board tells me all I need to know. No more tostitios or mtn.dew or taco bell, or pizza hut, or KFC, LJS,A&W (far as I know they carry via corporate policy – pepsi products exclusively in all YUM owned franchises which Pepsi itself used to own before spinning it off as I recall)

    21 – It’s like you didn’t watch the primaries or the convention.

  38. 2016 November 14 3:27 am

    31 – Yup
    32 – Nope not big problem, that has already sailed at the outright ban level, what you can get with good judges however is state laws around it upheld (re: protections for baker type cases), and many restrictions when it comes to the life matter upheld, and an executive that will leave as much of this to the states as possible. You were provided a list of 20 or so likely justices, nobody balked at any of them that I recall, if he nominates one of those (which even those that hated him on right admitted were all good choices) there should be nothing to whine about, if he doesn’t – whine away if it’s a bad pick, I’ll be right there with you.

    Whats up though with you both talking like #21 is news or a surprise though, don’t have to like it of course, but don’t act like it’s a some position flip flop, because it’s not, which is ironic given the left has attacked and smeared him as anti-gay and think he’s gonna start hanging gays or something. Which was\is always hilarious to me because he took sh1t in the primaries for being basically the opposite from folks like Cruz and Santorum, whom interestingly didn’t really want to talk about the gay issues either because in large part it’s settled, just trannies and life is what they focused on cause even they know the other issue is nuclear beyond religious exception issues. Don’t be shocked when he repeats himself about the tranny issue too at some point I’m sure something will trigger a flame up again in the future…his position was during the campaign – leaving the legislating bathroom crap to the states even though as he said he has no issues with it personally* which bathroom they decide to pee in. On that issue he’ll likely kill Obama executive order re: schools\lockerrooms but beyond that don’t expect him to act, and even that one he may sit on for awhile till the craziness on the left dies down and after the 9th justice is seated and a couple wins are under the belt. That’s just smart politics, as is potentially using it as leverage in getting some of the harder things an up\down vote in the senate.

    33/34/37 – All say it in less words an I.
