Castro Dead; US Cubans Celebrate

2016 November 26
by bc3b

Who will be the hardest hit/ Barack Obama, Pope Francis or Colin Kaepernick?

Fidel Castro is dead!

Of all communist dictators, probably only Stalin, Lenin and Mao murdered more people.

Fidel Castro died, and Cuban Miami did what it does in times of community celebration: It spilled onto the streets of Little Havana — and Hialeah, and Kendall — to honk horns, bang pans, and set off more than a few fireworks, saved for exactly the sort of unexpected special occasion that proved worthy of their detonation.

The scene across Miami-Dade County, the cradle of the Cuban exile community, was one of pure, raw emotion. This time, after decades of false alarms, Castro’s death was real.

“I wish my dad was here to see this,” 27-year-old Abraham Quintero cried just before 2 a.m. Saturday.

Wearing an “I love Hialeah” T-shirt, he stood on West 49th Street and Ludlam Road, where police quickly set up watch posts to make sure impromptu revelers stayed safe.

“Beautiful madness,” 29-year-old Christopher Sweeney said, describing the scene.

Passing cars honked incessantly. People waved huge Cuban flags. Parents carried their children and puppies. A few people appeared clad in pajamas and, in one case, flamingo slippers, jolted out of bed — and out of their homes — by the late-night news.

Shortly after midnight, Cuban leader Raúl Castro announced on state television, his voice trembling, that his older brother had died at 10:29 p.m.

“Toward victory, always!” he said.

The streets in Havana, where a nine-day mourning period was announced, appeared to remain quiet. Not so in Miami, the city across the Florida Straits shaped by exiles who fled Fidel Castro’s 1959 revolution.Calle Ocho remained closed to traffic, from Southwest 35th to 37th Avenues, to accommodate the elated crowds gathered at Versailles Cuban restaurant, the iconic exile hangout, to cheer and wave signs — no matter how unseemly it might be to revel in an old man’s death.

Some even yelled profanities about Castro.

Fidel, tirano, llévate a tu hermano,” they chanted outside Versailles. Fidel, tyrant, take your brother. There was also a variant: “Raúl, tirano, vete con tu hermano” (Raul, tyrant, go with your brother).

Someone outside the restaurant brought a portable karaoke system, and the crowd sang Cuban star Willy Chirino’s exile anthem, “Nuestro día ya viene llegando” (Our day is coming), as the scent of long-saved Cuban cigars burned at last.

Libertad!” young and old yelled. Liberty.

People were still popping champagne bottles in the middle of the street after 4 a.m. — an eruption of jubilation that remained peaceful throughout the night and into Saturday morning.

Like Francis (and me unfortunately), Fidel Castro was the product of a Jesuit education.

Damn, what a year it’s been with a month left to go.

With Castro now dead I’m sure he’s a shoe-in for Time’s person of the year, I mean it’s not like their gonna give it to the blatantly obvious person who earned it.

GOOD RIDDANCE. HE WAS A BRUTAL DICTATOR, EVEN THOUGH HE REMAINED THE DARLING OF AMERICAN LEFTISTS. Fidel Castro is dead. The New York Times’ obituary seems sad. The only sad thing is that JFK didn’t manage to kill him and spare Cuba decades of slave-state one-man rule. And I feel sorry for the NYT. First Trump gets elected, now Castro’s gone. Their whole world is shattered. . .

The two grandmasters began Wednesday’s Game 9 with another Ruy Lopez — the fifth time this opening sequence of moves had been played in the match and the untold millionth time it has been played since its eponymous Spanish priest undertook the first systematic study of the sequence in 1561. As I wrote:

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) – Pope Francis said the death of Cuba’s revolutionary leader Fidel Castro was “sad news” and that he was grieving and praying for his repose.

Francis expressed his condolences in a Spanish-language message to Fidel’s brother, President Raul Castro on Saturday.

The pope, who met Fidel Castro when he visited Cuba last year, said he had received the “sad news” and added: “I express to you my sentiments of grief.”

Fidel Castro, who was a professed atheist, was baptized as a Catholic and educated in schools run by the Jesuits, the religious order of which the pope is a member.

From an article at the Daily Beast…a far Left outlet, but good for some unintentional humor for time to time. This is such a time. 🙂

=>> “The president-elect has already flouted conflict of interest rules, national security protocols, normal relations with the press…”

if you said “Huh??” Then that is the correct response!

First of all…those 3 accusations are EXACTLY what Hillary Clinton has done since the moment she became SecState. But I digress.

Trump has “flouted conflict of interest”? He hasn’t been sworn in yet…thus there is NO interest to be in conflict with.

Trump has flouted “national security protocols”? WTF? When…how? Again, WTF?

Trump has flouted “normal relations with the press”?? OK, I nearly snorted coffee out of my nose when I got to that part. Define “normal”. Yes, the darlings missed a dinner Trump had with his family, and yes, he doesn’t invite them up on his lap either.

Oh oh well, the Left’s angst does have some humor value anyway.

Thinking more about the recount thing. Soros has made a fortune by creating political drama, and trading currencies and securities futures accordingly. The Trump Bump has caused the US stock market to rise by 2.3%. With US stock market valuations at roughly $30T, that amounts to about a $750 Billion that US investors have made in the 2 weeks since the Nov 8th shocker.

Fact: The markets HATE uncertainty, and react strongly to it.
Fact: $750 Billion is a lot of cheddar.
Fact: A sudden panic that the US election could be overturned would reverse the bump.
Fact: What happens in the US markets impacts global markets

So, an unscrupulous character like Soros doesn’t need to actually overturn the election to make a shit load of money. Maybe that’s not what he’s trying to do. All he has to do is make a big short bet, then throw a monkey wrench into the works and let nature take it’s course. Get WI to actually overturn, then pay off a few people to leak fake news that irregularities have been found in MI and PA. Spending $10mm to $20mm to bribe the right folks could create a massive selloff, which he would profit from handsomely.

Trump, whose initial reaction to the news was the four-word tweet “Fidel Castro is dead!” took a far sharper tone in a written statement later issued by his transition team.

“Today, the world marks the passing of a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades,” Trump said. “Fidel Castro’s legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights.”

ah it appears Florida was certified this past tuesday so Stein missed that boat.

Hillary would basically have to run the table overturning the other three states to win whereas if Florida was in the picture, it would still be unlikely but less unlikely.

    Michigan has certified as well.

Were I Trump I would go directly to California and challenge the voting there. We know that illegals voted in the state. Having found massive fraud at the polls the state would then not be able to certify their election results and their Electors balloting would be challenged. 55 EV’s might very well drop on the cutting room floor in Congress. Such a result would wipe out any possible gain. Then where will Stein be?

OBAMA waxed poetic regarding the death of Fidel Castro:

“recalling the countless ways in which Fidel Castro altered the course of individual lives, families, and of the Cuban nation. History will record and judge the enormous impact of this singular figure on the people and world around him.”

TRUMP explained a few of the “countless way” in which Castro altered the lives of the Cuban people:

“Today, the world marks the passing of a brutal dictator who oppressed his own people for nearly six decades. Fidel Castro’s legacy is one of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights.”

Obama is sad because he lost a hero…Trump realizes the world, and especially Cuba, lost a DICTATOR!

Ok I guess she can request recount after certification in michigan

She can’t request a recount in Michigan until the vote is certified, which is scheduled to happen at 2 p.m. Monday, when the Board of Canvassers meets to make the results — which show Republican Donald Trump with a 10,704-vote lead over Democrat Hillary Clinton — official. After the certification, she has until Wednesday afternoon to make the recount request.
Her campaign manager, David Cobb, said the recount request in all three states is a given because of: Michigan’s close election results; the fact that the vast majority of pre-election and exit polls in the state showed a lead for Clinton; and that there was a significant under-vote on Nov. 8, when an estimated 85,000 people cast ballots but did not make a selection in the presidential race.
“It is great that there are paper ballots in Michigan, but the only way to confirm the results is to do an audit or a recount,” Cobb said.

53 – It’s ok to be annoyed by this crap, it’s even ok to be concerned, but given the margins in wi and pa (they could maybe steal Michigan ~9.5k votes), it seems success is very unlikely in all 3. I almost don’t want to give it and them the attention they are seeking with it, but then again I don’t want to leave them to their own BS devices cause then they will steal it, and since the media is probably gonna gorge on it whole hog I guess there is no ignoring it.
