The Circus Comes to Town

2019 February 21

It the days of the Empire, Rome was known for bread and circuses. So, it’s only appropriate that the circus has returned to Rome today, in the form of a bishop’s conference on molestation. This circus won’t have any lions, tigers or acrobats, but it will have an overabundance of clowns – Cardinals Cupich, Gracias and Marx along with the Emmett Kelly of the Catholic Church – Pope Francis himself.

The molestation problem has been public knowledge for 30 or more years, yet the Church has done little to address it. The percentage of gay priests is much larger than the percentage of gays in the overall male population, which is less than 5%. The lowest survey figure I have seen is 15%. The late Cardinal George estimated 30% – 35% of priests in the Chicago Archdiocese might be gay. Andrew Sullivan has done a great deal of research and estimates that up to 40% of parish priests and 60% of religious orders (Jesuits, Franciscans, etc.) are gay.

Faithful Catholics started questioning how sincere Francis was about this week’s synod when he named Cardinal Blaise Cupich as one of its leaders. Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago, is a Machiavellian character who has replaced disgraced former Cardinal McCarrick as the top power broker is the US church. Archbishop Vigano, former papal nuncio – named Cupich as one of the bishops whose elevation McCarrick had been pushing. Cupich is one of the Church’s strongest LCBTQ supporters.

The conference is being limited to abuse of children, even though 80%+ is male to male involving teens and young adults (including seminarians). Francis has also warned the faithful and general public not to have too great expectations. By focusing on minors, the goal of Francis and Cupich is to place the spotlight only on the small percentage of pedophile priests, detracting attention from homosexual molesters. Between condemning pedophiles and removing McCarrick from the priesthood, the naive will believe the Church is finally taking action, while it really isn’t.

Faced with the comments of Cardinal Müller that “more than 80 percent of the victims of these sexual offenders are teenagers of the male sex” — put to him at the presser by LifeSiteNews — Cardinal Cupich was unable to deny this fact. But he denied any causal connection, while providing no explanation for the overwhelming disparity.

At today’s press conference, Edward Pentin of the National Catholic Register said: “It was often said during the Synod on Youth that the abuse of seminarians and vulnerable adults would be addressed at this meeting, partly because of the McCarrick scandal. When this meeting was initially announced, it was to be about the protection of minors and vulnerable adults, but now it seems to be about the protection of minors only.”

“Will this meeting include abuse of vulnerable adults and seminarians in particular?” Pentin asked.

Archbishop Scicluna ingeniously argued that the question would be dealt with by not being dealt with: that through concentrating on minors, the participants would learn valuable lessons despite never dealing with the question of seminarians and other vulnerable adults. Cardinal Cupich seconded Archbishop Scicluna and said that they needed to concentrate on minors because minors don’t have a voice.

How important addressing this question is in dealing with abuse at all levels was pointed out by CNN’s Delia Gallagher. Gallagher observed at the press conference that not only “conservative circles” but also “a French gay author” with a forthcoming book have argued that even prelates who are not involved in the abuse of minors or vulnerable adults, but who are engaged in clandestine homosexual activity, are disposed to cover for fellow clerics accused of abuse in order to maintain the conspiracy of silence that allows them to pursue their own lifestyle.

In response, Cardinal Cupich essentially said he would refuse to answer until he was given proof. He said: “I think you were right in saying it’s a hypothesis, and hypotheses have to be proven. And I think that that’s something that has to remain at that level of hypothesis.”

I never thought there would come a day when I would be ashamed of the Catholic Church, but I am. My parents, especially my mom, who was a convert, would be devastated.

The Catholic Church is fast becoming a cancer on Christianity, joining several Protestant denominations that have also adopted EVERY social Justice cause. But by it’s very size the Catholic Church is the greatest threat.

    Rand,

Thankfully we Jews don’t have that problem anymore. We self seperated decades ago.
The Reform/atheist Jews stay away from the Orthodox/Religious Jews. Been that way for 60 years.

Actually Jussie’s biggest problem and longest potential jail time may be for mail fraud (a federal offense).

So far, these are just Chicago PD charges, right?
Feds could add hoax terrorism through the mail, hate crimes on white people (as if) and intention to launch a race war.

Meanwhile, everything and I mean everything has been dropped in VA, it seems.

Just wanna weigh in on the whole “reparations for slavery” issue.

For once I agree with the Dems.

EVERYONE who was a slave before it was abolished by the 13th Amendment SHOULD receive reparations! And EVERYONE who owned slaves prior to that Amendment should have to pay those reparations!

There…I have staked out my moral position!!

On reparations: illegals who are exploited should get reparations. But ONLY if you directly employ them. Not from society at large.

16 – I mentioned this in the past, you can catch various articles about it over at thedrive.com\warzone. The X variant proposal is a good idea, at the right time because AF is in quite the pinch, also allows USAF to capitalize on the billions our allies (used very loosely) have poured into it’s continued development (refinement) over the last 30 years, it’s pretty funny that we actually don’t own any of the most advanced f-15’s, I think last I recall that honor goes to SA.

Since we can’t pump out 35’s quick enough (let alone afford as many as we need), and can’t stop retiring lots of the 33yrold and counting air frames, it’s not a bad option considering it’s largely directly plug-and-play compatible with existing 15 squadrons, no need for all-new systems, logistics trains, maintenance equipment etc, and I read pilots need only a fight or two certify on the minor differences. Costs less on front and back-end, known proven systems, the A-X for homeland def, the E-X for strike, both can play ‘missile\bomb\relay truck’ duty to follow the 5gen boys. #’s and range in many cases are needed far more then ‘stealthiness’, why re-invent the wheel?
