Whose the Fascist Now??

LIBERAL CALIFORNIA’s PENDING HOMELESS CRACKDOWN — State officials are considering aggressive tactics to deal with the escalating crisis of people with mental and physical illnesses living on the streets, POLITICO’s Victoria Colliver reports.

The growing homeless encampments — which have led to a rise in human waste, trash and open-air drug dealing — have united unlikely allies: Progressive lawmakers and President Donald Trump, who’s assailed California’s politicians over the crisis, calling it “a disgrace to our country” and threatening federal intervention.

“The crisis is so bad people’s minds are really opening up and the policies are shifting,” said Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener of San Francisco. “Legislation that would have had no chance five or 10 years ago can pass.”

— One possible approach: Pursuing involuntary commitment. A new state law authored by Weiner makes it easier for three counties to “conserve” — or take guardianship over — homeless people with several mental illness or substance use disorders who bounce in and out of short-term psychiatric commitments. And California voters could weigh in next year on a proposed ballot measure that would sentence homeless offenders to treatment instead of jail time.

— But advocates are worried about ramping up involuntary approaches. “If we’re talking about involuntary care, you’re basically waiting until someone is in really bad shape before they get help,” said Jennifer Friedenbach, executive director of the Coalition on Homelessness, a San Francisco advocacy organization.

I can think of a few unpleasant scenarios:

* You are a refugee from the CA Paradise fires. Your house burnt down, you only have a tent and the clothes on your back. But you do have assets. A busy body out of the mold of Child Services locks you into a ‘facility’ and then take control of all your accounts. You are a ward of the state.

* A greedy developer gets in cahoots with a mayor and utilizes eminent domain to seize your property. You are homeless. You are again shoved into a facility and your assets seized. You now do not have the resources to fight the eminent domain action against you. You lose.

This is the kind of stuff that El Duece was famous for to get people out of the way to keep trains running. The Peoples Republic of California is coming into focus. Unless you are a blue coast billionaire you don’t count.

I can’t wait to see what they dream up next!

Don’t get me wrong, CA has to solve the homeless problem. But the approach outlined above solves nothing.

    * Poor or indigent don’t have assets. Its principally why they are on the street to begin with.
    * Its a solution at the tail end of the process. It would be much better from the taxpayer viewpoint if benefits were cut and shelter services curtailed. That also means….
    * Getting rid of the sanctuary cities policies and performing stricter enforcement than the Feds. ‘Compassionate Liberalism’ under such policies is destroying the State.

you are spot on. drdog. “involuntary commitment“, will morph very quickly into a vehicle to fund the State.

Initially it will be to “provide shelter for the homeless”, but the question amongst the “Woke” is already: “Who but the mentally unstable would even WANT to own a gun???” The “Red Flag” laws will allow the State to take people’s firearms without Due Process, why not “Conserve” them and get them treatment…and take their assets to pay for it.

Oh hell, while they are “involuntarily committed” you might as well RE-EDUCATE them while you’re at it!

“Joe Biden: And by the way I sit on a stand, I got hot, I got hairy legs that turn, that, that, that, turn blond in the sun. And the kids used to come up and reach in and pull and rub my legs, and watch the hairs rise up again. So I learned about roaches. I learned about kids jumping up on my lap. And I love kids jumping on my lap. ”

From a recent Biden appearance. -not- a joke.

If you build it, they will come!

Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Portland have definitely built a welcoming structure for the homeless (non-enforcement of vagrancy laws, benefits, needle exchanges, areas where they can shoot up, etc.

Despite minuscule knowledge about college sports, I finished above 50%!

Regarding Joe Biden, this is funny. A reporter from Politico shows how Biden’s “retail politics” falls short at times.

    Comments are great too.

Watching the post season staffing shuffle is humorous. Everyone wants to be part of a winner, that’s human nature. But in any give level only half the teams have the chops to be in conference contention. Of the top half only half again in any given 5 year period really have the resources to be the winner. If you were to take FSU, UoF, UoMiami, USF as in-state rivals USF ain’t going to make it. Its a young program, lacks the donor base, does not even know how to cheat yet.

    Fight On #21 –

The dog piss celebration may have been the final nail in Matt Luke’s coffin at Ole Miss. The Rebels had the momentum in the game. 5-7 looks much better than 4-8. But, the peeing incident also may have saved the job of the opposing coach – Joe Moorhead at Mississippi State. Mississippi State had a disappointing year and would not have been bowl-eligible had they lost to Ole Miss.

Elijah Moore has a ton of talent, but not a lot of sense (common or uncommon). He originally committed to Georgia before deciding on Ole Miss. After his peeing episode, he had a WWF champion’s belt on his shoulder on the sidelines. Why would a player have something like that at a Division 1 football game. I saw a photo of Matt Luke’s wife consoling Moore after the game. This morning she’s consoling Matt.

Ole Miss Players Upset by Luke’s Firing:

They should be upset at Elijah Moore.

Matt Luke’s three years at Ole Miss:
    2017: 6-6
    2018: 5-7
    2019: 4-8

15-21 and losing more games every year gets you fired when you are making $3.1-million, even at a second tier SEC school like Ole Miss. Luke was 6-18 in SEC games so most of his wins came against mid-majors.

    Fight On #25 –

Perhaps you should convince one of the Trojans that he’s a dog with a bladder control problem in the end zone. That seems to work rather well.

I’m as happy as a lark. Central Michigan went from 1-11 last year to 8-4 – MAC West champions playing for the MAC title Saturday.

Hopefully, they can keep Jim McElwain. He’s 57 and has been in the Power 5 pressure cooker (got fired by Florida). He bought a barn just off the CMU campus and had the upstairs built into his family’s living quarters with a huge open area for team get togethers downstairs. Might be hard to sell. McElwain can make $700k-$800k for as long as he wants to be at CMU. Frank Solich, Ohio’s coach, who is 74, took that route. He got canned at Nebraska in 2003 for going 58-19 in six seasons. Today Nebraska would kill for a 58-19 coach. Solich has been at Ohio since 2005.

Also, my Flint Firebirds junior hockey team (boys 16-19) is winning. Last year the Firebirds were the worst team in the Ontario Hockey League – the highest level of junior hockey. Life is good.
