If You Build It …

… they will come.

California keeps complaining about its homeless problem, but keeps adopt more SJW initiatives to attract the homeless. They already ignore vagrancy and other laws, set up needle exchanges, provide far more social services than the non-Left Coast states. What’s left? How about $700,000/unit apartments to house the homeless? That should attract the remaining homeless addicts that have yet to discover the Golden State.

Sure, most of us can’t afford a $600,000 condo in a trendy neighborhood, in one of the most expensive places to live in the country. But if you’re homeless in Los Angeles, a condo can be yours!

The new condo development is the first of 118 projects to be built over the next six years to house the homeless and other needy people in Los Angeles, California, according to the mayor’s office.

There are studio apartments and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with decent-sized kitchens.

The first recipient of a $600,000 condo was a family with five children:

Last summer, USA Today reported that between the costs imposed by regulations and real estate prices and spiffs, such as fitness centers and homeless services, the costs for these homes are prohibitive:

“[The homeless] will receive keys to one of 72 new apartments, complete with a fitness center, in the heart of trendy Koreatown, built at a projected cost of $690,692 for each unit, according to the city controller’s office. Two additional projects in the pre-approval phase are expected to top $700,000 per unit in total costs.

“This kind of cost is utterly unacceptable,” Controller Ron Galperin said. “I believe we need a fundamental course correction.”

The median cost of housing in LA is $618,000, less than most of the units are costing taxpayers.

The more government does to make life for the “homeless” as good as it is for working Americans, the more it removes any reason for “homeless” to find jobs, get off drugs, etc. and remain homeless.

It also encourages people to become “homeless.” There are many people currently working at lower paying jobs who could have just as good (if not better) a lifestyle in Southern California if they can snag one of these $700,000/unit apartments.

Look at “The Projects” in Chicago and elsewhere. When they opened they were gleaming towers intended as Low/No Cost housing…and today they are crime infested warrens that the police will not go into except with overwhelming force.

Only the Democrat idiots (redundant) who run this alleged State would believe that the $600,000+ condos will be maintained by people who are perfectly happy relieving themselves anywhere and any time they feel like it.

    Good Points JR –

In Chicago they finally gave up on Cabrini-Green and demolished it and with Title 8 housing allowance, many Cabrini-Green alums moved to Chicago’s south suburbs, turning formerly nice places like South Holland into hell holes.

They also talk about using “retired” cruise ships to house the “homeless” in the Bay Area. Carnival, NCL, Disney Cruise Lines, etc. have 20 year-old ships they want to replace to remain competitive. Today’s cruise ships hold up to 4,500 passengers. Most of the older ships cruise lines want to dump hold 2,000 – 3,000 people.

Anyone who has ever taken a cruise knows how the crew works around the clock to keep the ship clean and operative with passengers who act reasonably civilized, don’t have serious drug problems and pick up after themselves.

Kalifornia city and state officials complain how other areas are exporting their homeless problems to what was once known as the Golden State.

Even a low-IQ homeless person on drugs realizes they will live a better life in LA where it’s currently 50 degrees (with an expected high of 65) versus living in a Salvation Army shelter (where there are rules) in Detroit (current temperature 24; expected high 41 and today is a warmer than average January day). Detroit has some major problems, but you don’t have to avoid poop and needles when you walk along Woodward Avenue.

What the left wants to do with “homelessness” is the same thing it did with homosexuality and transgenderism – normalize it.

The end of the article is SPOT ON!

==> “So, if the American people want to enrich tyrants, protect terrorists, move towards socialism, have more people dependent on government, reduce freedom of choice on health care, schools and energy, refuse to enforce immigration laws, kill fully developed babies up to and beyond birth, and to reduce girls’ and women’s privacy by having men and boys expose themselves in locker rooms and restrooms, they should take the advice of most journalists and elect Democrats. If they want freedom, prosperity, capitalism, enforcement of immigration laws, more opportunity to move up the economic ladder for everyone and a President who is willing to kill terrorists who maim and kill people around the World they should vote for Trump.

    The choice is easy.”

PETA attacks AOC for buying a French Bulldog rather than adopting a shelter pet:

While I love to see the left attacking one another, have you seen what’s in shelters lately? In my local shelter, where a worker was attacked by a pit bull last month, 85% of the dogs are pit bulls/mixes. The greatest dog I ever had was a beagle mix we adopted as a puppy from the Dayton Humane Society. Try to find a beagle mix puppy in a shelter today. Younger dogs in most shelters today are pit bulls/mixes with a few Mastiffs, Rottweilers and German Shepherds thrown in. If you find a beagle it’s likely 10-12 years old.

No-kill has totally changed the shelter demographics. More shelters are labeling all dogs as “mixed breeds” (so they can pass pit bulls/mixes off) and they are “warehousing” pit bulls that are unadoptable or that no one wants.

If liberals were only as interested in saving human babies ….

I think the splits will between ButtGay Guy and Sanders. ButtGay appears more moderate so the split might be as much as 70/30 not in Sanders favor. If that trend holds true the drop outs will be marginal to Sanders standing. Just a guess.
