Portland “Wall of Moms” Protect Rioters from Feds

This looks like a scene from The Night of the Living Dead or an ip post.

A group of women banded together to form a human wall to protect protesters from federal officers in Portland over the weekend. There have been 52 days and nights of protests since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, which have turned violent after federal authorities have been sent in earlier this month.

After a Facebook post called for mothers to make a “Wall of Moms,” dozens wearing white and helmets attended Saturday.  They stood arm-in-arm with each other, forming a barrier between federal agents and demonstrators. The gathering came after a report that federal officials from a number of agencies have been driving around and detaining people.

“We moms are often underestimated,” organizer Bev Barnum said in the event page. “But we’re stronger than we’re given credit for.”

As if on cue, Mayor Ted Wheeler Blames Trump

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, a Democrat, said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that the presence of federal officers is “actually leading to more violence.”They are not wanted here, we have not asked them here, and in fact, we want them to leave,” Wheeler said.

Wheeler and other Oregon officials have blamed the Trump administration for the escalation of violence.

“The tactics the Trump administration are using on the streets of Portland are horrid,” Wheeler said. “As you indicated, people are literally being scooped off the street and into unmarked vans, rental cars apparently. They are being denied probable cause and due process. They don’t even know who is pulling them into the vans, the people are not identifying themselves. As far as I can see this is completely unconstitutional.”

Mr. Trump tweeted Sunday that his administration working to “help Portland, not hurt it.”

“Their leadership has, for months, lost control of the anarchists and agitators,” the president wrote. “They are missing in action. We must protect Federal property, AND OUR PEOPLE.”

75 years ago 18 year old American males risked their lives storming beaches in Europe and fighting on insect-infested islands in the South Pacific. Today 18 year old American males are hiding behind a “wall of moms.” The jokes literally write themselves.

Another study out of CT (bit larger) 144 test 90 false positives using thermo fisher tests… backing up what the other one found. This one from the state lab.

“DPH said the false positive test results were discovered by DPH laboratory scientists while examining previously positive samples to determine the feasibility of testing “pooled” specimens at the state lab.”
Can someone explain that to me in laymans terms because testing “pooled samples” sounds asinine on the surface, so it must not mean what I think it means.

  6. 2020 July 20 10:43 pm

re: 6 …extend that out country wide to all the labs using TFS systems, and you just found the reasons for large spikes in cases without matching underlying symptoms. That is if the false positive rates are relatively consistent among all the gear involved and not limited to a certain revision of the gear. Still 65% false positive makes it completely useless, be safer not testing as CT just found out because those testing positive were put in housing with others testing positive and they probably just infected people to didn’t have it, and killed at least a few of them via faulty testing.

Maybe it’s time for nationwide 10-day pause on testing (short of those actually being admitted with symptoms who should be testing using the most reliable tests we have – if any are even reliable). Remember when Trump was saying you shouldn’t go get tested unless you really think you have symptoms or serious risk of exposure, he was right.

I’m trying to post a link about Red Bull firing “diversity directors” who were sowing dissension because they felt the company wasn’t doing enough to support the BLM movement. Unfortunately, my posting is getting marked as SPAM. Is there anything I can do about this?

Not sure what the issue is. I just checked my email for posts to approve, but there were none. JR, any ideas? You are far more literate than I am.

Was this what you were trying to post?

Coronavirus (COVID-19): What is pooled testing? In a pooled testing algorithm, samples of multiple individuals are put together in a tube and screened through the PCR test. In case the pooled test turns out to be positive, individual samples are tested, which is referred to as pool de-convolution. If there’s no positive result, all individual samples in the pool are regarded as negative, resulting in substantial cost savings.

Has to do with saving time and effort. If a 5 person sample turns up negative result then those 5 people are clean, move on. Be a fast way to test an entire family for example.

I think even less people will care with all this SJW crap. The only time I watched the playoffs/World Series in recent years was the year the Cubs won it all. I used to be a huge Cubs fan, even had weekend season tickets back in the 1980s.

The thing that shocked me most about the MLB article was the actual Tweets from MLB. They sound like they came from a 20-year old social justice warrior. The Tweet I thought made the most sense was from a Yankees player, basically saying, “Let’s keep politics out of baseball.”

DrDog, thanks. Here it goes again.

Red Bull has fired two ‘diversity directors’ who tried to force the company into virtue signaling about Black Lives Matter while also dissolving several ‘culture teams’ who were pressuring Red Bull to take a more aggressive ‘woke’ political stance.

    https://summit. news/2020/07/20/red-bull-fires-woke-diversity-directors-who-tried-to-push-for-blm-support/

In #9, that story from the NY Post only tells part of the story. Apparently the “woke” employees fired were trying to undermine and embarrass the company into supporting the BLM movement. Fortunately, Red Bull, unlike many companies these days, went after the employees sowing division rather than cowtowing to them and taking leftist political stances in the name of diversity. If other companies did the same, this PC garbage would stop pretty quickly.

First off, to the article; fantastic for RedBull. I would add this appears to be a case of subversion by a few within the corp. Other CEOs should take note of such subversion efforts.

12 – Too late already written off. 😉
13 – More worried about being able to make rent and their next meal.

17 – That assumes the pooled testing (not the method ..the actual system) is any better then individual testing in terms of reliability\accuracy of results. Given how shitty reliability with ‘testing’ has been thus far seems like a step backwards especially when dealing with false negatives.

20 – Indeed, but that appears to be a rare exception not the rule.

Let me answer that: – No.

The story here to me isn’t that someone called this bitch a bitch. It’s that Matt Gaetz showed himself again to be a bitch as well, unnecessarily jumping in to the fray. BTW Matt I’d like a list of those colleagues that get along with her so well so I can make sure I’m not voting of any of them.

“Other Walled Lake teachers have expressed their political views without any repercussions. Paulette Loe, a now-retired Walled Lake Western teacher, encouraged students to read an article from the Atlantic about “how to beat Trump” while still employed. Nicole Estes, a kindergarten teacher in the district, called Trump a “sociopath” and a “narcissist” on Facebook in 2016 and is still employed at Keith Elementary School. Neither Loe nor Estes responded to requests for comment.”

Why are they not fired, not even stating incontrovertible facts?
Where are the parents calling and protesting that he be re-hired, or that the superintendent, and the principal to be the ones fired?

Totally not canceled…and if the reverse was said by white student we all know what the result would be. I’d actually be ok that someone wasn’t fired and booted over a tweet….but only if standard went both ways, and it doesn’t. BTW UGA I believe i was had to boot a professor two or three years ago for saying this very same crap in the classroom as I recall, wonder if this racist student was in one of those classes.
