Biden’s War on Working Class Americans

If your suburb is like mine, it is no longer a white enclave. My next door neighbors are Chinese. When I shop at the local Meijer or Kroger, I see people of all races and ethnic backgrounds – blacks, Asians, Hispanics. whites, etc. There were black girls on my daughter’s soccer team and at her elementary and middle schools.  She went to Catholic high school, which also was integrated.

What’s the difference between the blacks in suburbia and urban blacks? Quite simply, most blacks in suburbia are Americans first and blacks second. They want the same things that most whites, Asians and Hispanics want – clean neighborhoods, good schools, a safe environment, etc. They do not embrace a”ghetto culture,” which holds many inner city blacks back. They have a typical family unit – mom, dad and the kids – and do everything possible to ensure their children succeed. It would take a tornado to force them to miss a student evaluation night.

Joe Biden wants to change that. Newt Gingrich writes:

The longer presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Joe Biden stays hidden in his basement, the further away he gets from everyday Americans.

Only the left can get to him in his basement, and the result is a steady slide to politically disastrous positions.

His most recent attack on the American people was his endorsement (or borrowing) of the Cory Booker-James Clyburn plan to use the federal government to destroy the suburbs by forcing changes imposed by Washington bureaucrats. The plan would seek to diversify American suburbs by withholding federal dollars from communities that do not change local zoning ordinances to accommodate denser housing.

Now, this policy is opposed by 65% of all Americans, with just 23% favoring government playing a role in diversifying neighborhoods, according to Rasmussen Reports. Among Democrats, 56% say it’s not the government’s job to dictate local community plans – along with 73% of Republicans and 68% of independents.

As Andrea Widburg wrote in American Thinker this month:

“People of all races, colors, and creeds move to the suburbs for the same reasons: Single-family homes with big gardens on wide streets that have minimal traffic and quality, safe schools that aren’t too far away from home. It’s all about raising children where they can safely play outdoors and get a good education. These things, of course, are the opposite of what one finds in a densely populated city.”

Of course, the tremendous increase in violence in big cities and the collapse of unionized bureaucratic schools have increased the desirability of moving to the suburbs.

Despite this near 3:1 majority against his policy, Biden would require any state getting highway grants to develop a program to change zoning so it is more inclusionary.

As Sen. Booker’s website explains, the states “could choose to reduce restrictions on lot size, eliminate parking requirements, or allow accessory dwelling units and multifamily homes. These actions would allow for the construction of greater housing density… Municipalities could also institute a ‘density bonus,’ which allows developers to build more units if a portion of them are maintained as affordable housing units.”

Biden indicated his support for government-imposed suburban change on his website. Biden would:

“Eliminate local and state housing regulations that perpetuate discrimination. Exclusionary zoning has for decades been strategically used to keep people of color and low-income families out of certain communities. As President, Biden will enact legislation requiring any state receiving federal dollars through the Community Development Block Grants or Surface Transportation Block Grants to develop a strategy for inclusionary zoning, as proposed in the HOME Act of 2019 by Majority Whip Clyburn and Senator Cory Booker.”

Rupert Darwall made crystal clear how out-of-touch with suburban reality the radical Democrats are in an Aug. 10 article entitled, “The Democrats Put the Suburbs — and Family Life — on the November Ballot.” He wrote the piece shortly after President Donald Trump rescinded a similar diversity rule from the Obama Era. In response, Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., called President Trump “a proud, vocal segregationist” in a tweet. As you can imagine, the Twitter mob parroted Murphy.

Imagine the problems when several 10-year olds with a Grade 1 reading level are placed in a classroom with fifth graders who read and do math at a fifth grade level. It’s all part of the left’s game plan – reduce everyone (except the elite) to the lowest common denominator.

People like Joe Biden, Chris Murphy and the Obamas live in gated communities. Obamas have a walled residence in Washington and a 29-acre compound on Martha’s Vineyard that they purchased for $14-million. They sent their daughters to Sidwell-Friends (tuition: $39,360 – the equivalent of four years at Bishop Foley Catholic). The schools the elites send their children to have far fewer minorities than schools in Troy, MI or Vandalia, OH or Plano, TX.

This won’t affect Democratic leaders or their elitist friends. And, it’s not just a war on suburbia. Like everything the Democrats do these days, it’s a war on working class Americans. Hopefully this will instill some common sense into suburban, college educated soccer moms, but don’t hold your breath.

Terrific post. I especially approve of noting that the elites set up these horrible rules but the rules do not impact their lives. Either they’re rich or in a safe neighborhood or laws don’t apply to them.
    Or, all three.

With the WuFlu we’ve learned that dense housing and public transport is a recipe for disaster. Whereas spread out suburbs and people with skills who are resilient can handle things much better.

Xi calls on Chinese not to waste food as crop shortage fears grow: “State media has gone into overdrive to highlight food wastage and the response by retailers. Broadcaster CCTV pointed to the Daweiwang live streams that show people eating vast amounts of food as an example of encouraging gluttony and food wastage, calling on the public to ‘applaud thriftiness.’”

I predict this will result in — entirely rational — food hoarding in response.

Uber says it will temporarily shut down CA if the appeal fails. Then they would comply but only provide service in limited areas. A lot of youngsters really depend on Uber. They don’t own cars, for example.

Dems would prefer to avoid depending on US military to back them. I wonder if they would stand down US forces and invite UN peacekeepers.

Well they don’t need the govt to do this, as we are doing it already. The cities are emptying out due to CoVid and stupid moves by Governors/Mayors. And where are these people going? Anywhere but the big cities. So that 5th grader with a 1st grader capability is going to show up anyway. Just sayin’.

    Haahahahahahahah — — Great pick….

My theory that the Dims are intending to lose seems plausible. The one problem I see is the Dims have already figured out how to cheat so bad that they win no matter who they pick…

Granted. Though I find it interesting that Trump is attempting/completing things in the middle east that the GOP has been harping about for 20 years and did nothing to accomplish it.

This is in the next town over from me. You know the city officials are progtards when they use words like “unhoused people”. Instead of, you know, vagrants, bums and so on.

It’s a very socially conservative town, though I’m sure they vote Dem. It’s majority Asian, in other words if you add up all the Chinese, Indians, Japanese, Korean, Philipino, Vietnamese, … then they outnumber the whites. Schools are good. Not because the teachers’ union is better there, but because the parents demand success, help with homework, read report cards, pay for tutors and so on. Lots of high tech workers with STEM degrees and grad school.

If you click on the link be sure to read the short paragraph on the 9th Circuit. This is what the city officials hide behind. “What else can we do? The 9th Circuit …”

The CA GOP is dismal. But this is the year that Asians might turn away from Dems. They work hard to help kids get ahead. Dems respond with ACA5 (on the ballot in Nov)

This is a literal quote from ACA5
“The California Constitution, pursuant to provisions enacted by the initiative Proposition 209 in 1996, prohibits the state from discriminating against, or granting preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in the operation of public employment, public education, or public contracting. The California Constitution defines the state for these purposes to include the state, any city, county, public university system, community college district, school district, special district, or any other political subdivision or governmental instrumentality of, or within, the state.
This measure would repeal these provisions. “
