Going Back in TIME

2021 February 9
by bc3b

Not that far back, just last week.

We’re talking about the TIME Magazine article by Mary Ball in which she admits/brags about the fact that the 2020 election was rigged against Trump, not just by the Democrats and the mainstream media, but by an alliance also involving the US Chamber of Commerce, organized labor, corporate CEOs and other elitists.

If you have not read it, here is the entire article. Very enlightening.

From the tone of the article, it’s easy to see that Ball obviously hates Donald Trump, conservatives and Republicans in general. Cue up Gomer Pyle.

Here are some takeaways:

  • The oligarchs saved the 2020 election by taking it out of the hands of the voters
  •  “… people thronged cities across the U.S. to celebrate the democratic process that resulted in Trump’s ouster.”
  • “There was a conspiracy unfolding behind the scenes, one that both curtailed the protests and coordinated the resistance from CEOs.”
  • “For more than a year, a loosely organized coalition of operatives scrambled to shore up America’s institutions as they came under simultaneous attack from a remorseless pandemic and an autocratically inclined President. “
  • “‘The untold story of the election is the thousands of people of both parties who accomplished the triumph of American democracy at its very foundation,’ says Norm Eisen, a prominent lawyer and former Obama Administration official who recruited Republicans and Democrats to the board of the Voter Protection Program.”
  • “This is the inside story of the conspiracy to save the 2020 election, based on access to the group’s inner workings, never-before-seen documents and interviews with dozens of those involved from across the political spectrum.”
  •  “That’s why the participants want the secret history of the 2020 election told, even though it sounds like a paranoid fever dream–a well-funded cabal of powerful people, ranging across industries and ideologies, working together behind the scenes to influence perceptions, change rules and laws, steer media coverage and control the flow of information. They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it. And they believe the public needs to understand the system’s fragility in order to ensure that democracy in America endures.” Ball contradicts herself here. Earlier she says they were rigging the election. Nothing like a well-funded cabal determining the outcome of a presidential election to “ensure that democracy endures.”
  • “The first task was overhauling America’s balky election infrastructure–in the middle of a pandemic. For the thousands of local, mostly nonpartisan officials who administer elections, the most urgent need was money. They needed protective equipment like masks, gloves and hand sanitizer. They needed to pay for postcards letting people know they could vote absentee–or, in some states, to mail ballots to every voter. They needed additional staff and scanners to process ballots.”

I could go on, but you get the picture. If you read the full article, you realize that 1984 has indeed arrived. The elites, the rich and politically correct will determine the outcome of national elections – rigging – err I mean “fortifying” elections to ensure the public doesn’t make a choice they don’t agree with.

The question is why TIME published this:

  • Could it be that they are so confident the elites can determine the outcomes of elections (and the American public can’t stop them) that they have become that brazen? Or does it go deeper …
  • Are the anti-Trump forces trying to get out in front of what information may be coming out in the coming weeks and months to dull its impact?

Any other ideas?

“They were not rigging the election; they were fortifying it.”

This gives you an insight into what types of people are in the media. Mary Ball would have been quite comfortable on the staff of the Soviet-era Pravda.

I know this is the second thread on this, but damn, it’s important.

    Well done, Missouri

Now other States need to follow suit. Of course, the same media that CHEERED when States (like the PRK) announced they were “Sanctuary States” for illegal aliens, will HOWL about this. Fu@k ’em.

Excellent indeed. Viva-Barnes this past week touched on this subject in a different context and Barnes essentially came to the same observation. What CA principally did in certain venues other States will replicate in other areas.

Today the clown show starts in D.C.

It is easy to predict it will another example of “Definitional Success and Definitional Failure”

Definitional Success – the media/BigTech will declare WHATEVER the Democrats do as “The greatest and most damning prosecution in the history of the world…vitally necessary to save our planet from the greatest villain since Lex Luther!”

Definitional Failure – the media/BigTech will declare WHATEVER Trump’s legal team says or does, and/or any Republicans brave enough to speak, as “THE most despicable LIES in the history of the world…and further justification for the occupation troops protecting the Capitol from the hordes of Despicables waiting to pounce on the valiant Democrats!”

    Enjoy the show!

An excellent article, which states and explains what we’ve been saying here for some time: The Left needs to DESTROY America, and scatter it’s ashes, before it can create its ‘Workers Paradise’ in the same footprint

You surely know the Great Barrington Declaration, drafted by Stanford’s Jay Bhattacharya, Oxford’s Sunetra Gupta, and Harvard Medical School’s Martin Kulldorff. Trump did NOT “start all this welfare shit”. The rolls of those on Food Stamps, for example, went DOWN under Trump. Now they will rise exponentially.

Trump also had 100% resistance to EVERYTHING he did…including from the GOP.

Comment that I saw at another site. Yikes. The list of political prisoners lengthens

    https://amgreatness.com/2021/02/04/amer … ers-first/

“In September 2019, Couy Griffin, founder of Cowboys for Trump, met with President Trump in the Oval Office.

His group, according to its website, believes “securing our border, protecting our Second Amendment, and protecting the lives of the unborn are the most vital and key aspects in America’s Greatness.” Trump supporters riding on horseback—often carrying American flags and Trump banners—participated in rallies across the country to show support for the president.

Today, Griffin sits in a jail cell denied bail.

Prosecutors charged Griffin with one minor count of trespassing as part of the Justice Department’s sweeping investigation into the events of January 6. Griffin, who is a county commissioner in New Mexico, never entered the Capitol but investigators scoured his social media account to find evidence that he was “well within the restricted area” of the building.

Griffin did not assault a police officer or break any windows or even steal an important leader’s laptop. His real crime, of course, is that he’s a supporter of Donald Trump— “….

“Arguing that Griffin is a flight risk and should remain in jail throughout his trial, government lawyers claimed his refusal to accept Joe Biden as the legitimately elected president would cause him to also “deny the authority of the judicial officers appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate.”…”Faruqui preached during a February 1 hearing. “I don’t think that the defendant will follow my conditions if he believes I am part of this machine of the democratic process.”

The judge added that refusing to accept the outcome of the 2020 election is like “not believing facts or science.” “…..

“So what should the yahoos who broke in should actually be charged with? Trespassing mostly, and then vandalism for those that damaged property. But no, for the past month, the Democrats have been throwing hissy fits about how it was “an attempt to overthrow the government”, an “insurrection”, and a “coup.” That’s the narrative they have to establish in order to justify their draconian prosecution and imprisonment without bail for the offenders.”

Regarding overspending, yes, even Reagan, Bush, W Bush and yes even Trump chose to NOT make spending cuts a hill to die on. Congress shut down the gov’t once. Should have done it again.
How long since we’ve had a budget?

14 – Started? My dude I got plenty of bones to pick with Trump and GopE, including on that front, but you’re gonna have to go back way way way before Trump for when it “started”. /just saying. Maybe you meant something else by “started” though (like started the “corona” related shit)

BTW speaking of going back in time…
Remember 3-4 weeks ago when everything remotely “bad” or labeled that way occurred domestically and even to a large extent in the world was some how the president of the united states fault, when it came to 98% of coverage. Funny ain’t it how that’s suddenly no longer the case, funny how so many things are “local” problems again.

    “Well done, Missouri”

Indeed….if it’s enforced itself. Sitting here thinking the local DA in St.Louis (and other radicals in similar places) ain’t gonna give a shit about state law any more than they already do (or I should say don’t). Even if they can’t ultimately get a state conviction because of it they’ll still drag you through the expensive of the entire process while also trying to use the initial bs charge to get you on something else because that (the process) in itself will be the punishment as we’ve seen time and time again.

Deal with it. “Outrage and the fear of a darker future were nowhere to be found in that Republican Party.”, are you fucking kidding me, same party of whom 95% of it’s members have been weak knee pussies my whole life who were always spending way more time worried about what some presstitute might say the ever even bothering to think of the future to begin with, let alone to battle in the here and now on most fronts, and rarer still to ever do so as a united front. “They’re waiting for leaders who will say what they know is true.” …for better or worse we just had about the closest thing to that you’ll ever see jackass. The question is why TIME published this…

Some elements of what you mention probably but mainly…
To gloat, and to do so in your face.
Because what difference at this point does it make, not like anyone will face any consequences.

  30. 2021 February 9 11:24 am

The dry rot started almost from day one,
As the states acquiesced one by one,
A little federal subsidy here, surrendering sovereignty there,
The cancer continued until they had us by the short hair,
Once attached to the federal nipple of security,
    Representative government slips into obscurity,
We the people have been myopic in our view,

While it’s true that Alpha was doing something non intuitive and making it work the opposition was not on top of its game. That’s something Hikaru did not address.

Ok, go ahead, read this — https://www.zerohedge.com/political/strange-game-part-2 — Excerpt

Reduce your taxable footprint as much as possible, rendering as little to Caesar as possible. Spending less deprives them of sales tax.

Do home improvement projects yourself and buy supplies from local retailers, rather than big box mega-stores.

    Don’t buy anything from Amazon.

If you are still on Facebook or Twitter, depart for a platform that does not censor.

    Don’t use Google for searches.

    Cancel Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Boycott any organization pushing the BLM agenda or critical race theory.

Take a course or two at the local tech school in electrical, plumbing, or other practical skill, so you can do it yourself.

No matter how small your plot of land, learn to grow some food – the more the better. See if hydroponics is possible. Deny the mega-food industry your business.

Make friends with local farmers, source meat, eggs, corn, milk, etc. from them and pay in cash. The government cannot track the transaction.

If you need to utilize a contractor, landscaper, painter, etc. find a local guy and pay in cash. They often will give a discount and the government will not get their slice.

If your circumstances warrant, bartering with locals can satisfy the needs of both parties and keeps the government out of your business.

Only frequent small family-owned restaurants and always pay in cash, including the tip for your waitress. The government will absolutely get their slice if you pay using a credit card. If you have money in a Wall Street bank, withdraw it and put it in credit union or small local bank.

Do not carry any credit card debt. Pay down your mortgage. Do not borrow to buy a new car. Buy a used car. Reduce your driving, not to save the environment, but to deny the State gasoline taxes and toll revenue.

If possible, own some precious metals, in preparation for the inevitable collapse of the USD. Crypto currencies may also be a hedge but may be too risky for most people.

Learn how to communicate with allies using encrypted messaging.

Don’t wear a mask or get the experimental DNA altering jab. Ridicule those who do.

The IRS is a dysfunctional, understaffed, bureaucratic calamity of an organization. You are small potatoes. They don’t have the resources to check whether your return is accurate. If the Fed can print $4 trillion out of thin air, why do they need your taxes anyway. Act accordingly.

If you live in an urban area, and have the means, get the hell out, preferably to a rural area inhabited by like- minded people.

If you live in a blue state or blue county, and can do so, move to a red state or red county. As states raise income tax rates, move to states with little or no income taxes. PA governor Wolf just proposed increasing the state income tax by 46% to give my money to teachers’ unions. Florida is looking awfully inviting. With federal, state and local taxes surely going to rise, if you are near retirement, and can afford to, just drop out now and stop paying income taxes.

As these Going Galt actions are sure to infuriate those wielding power, make sure you are armed, have firearms training, and have a sufficient supply of ammo. Be mentally prepared to defend your homestead.

Sounds like the participant list here. 🙂

62, great minds are starting to converge? 🙂 🙂
Wife and I are doing many/most of these. Some are harder.
One that was super easy was switch from bank to credit union. Banks have more branches but how often do you need to physically go in? Our CU has an app with bill pay. You can remote-deposit using photos of the check. They have safety deposit boxes. The bank has fees, pays no interest and the mortgage rate is super high.
A hard one is Amazon. I hate them “with heat of 10,000 suns” and wish they would DIAF (die in a fire) as a friend of mine puts it. But now we’re so lazy and don’t know how to find stuff except at Amazon online and all the local stores are dying off, etc. It’s hard to reduce usage of Amazon but we’ve never had Prime and we’re cutting back.

PRP (or anyone), what is the best way to start acquiring crypto?
    1) Should I get on the wait list for a BTC credit card offered by BlockFi?
Or create an account with CoinBase?
    2) What are the concrete steps to buy? For a beginner, what is a reasonable amount to get your feet wet? Do you place an order with a limit or just buy at market? Do you buy all at once or make a few trades?
    3) Is it stupid to buy through your PayPal account or do they have enough volume to get a good deal?
Can I use Brave as a wallet, or best to use something more specialized?

Dude watch out. I order off amazon but everything is expensive as f#%#.

I look on amazon but i always compare to walmart online. Walmart is often up to 4x cheaper, and no im not joking.

hahaha at first I thought I was imagining that the Amazon prices were high and this was some fluke or something.

I’m not one to usually give a woot if something is 60 cents higher or something, and I never bother coupon shopping because I’m way to inpatient.

No, I’m talking consistent 4x mark ups on amazon. It’s like some shady AI attempt to trick people into paying 40 dollars for a role of paper towel or something.

Ya, coinbase or kraken are the way to go in USA. Binance was banned in US so they created Binance.US now but some states like Texas still have binance.US banned.

As far as risks these exchanges could get hacked or corrupt or whatever like mt Gox in 2013. Additionally, it’s like having a gold ETF that is counterparty risk if they ever go under during a financial meltdown then you’re up a creek. Also it’s not like the FDIC at a bank where you have insurance if something happens. People from Mt Gox are still in lawsuits.

But, ya coinbase is generally thought of as secure and its the most used in the USA by far.

It has less choices than binance.US. If you want to push out the risk curve you’ll want binance. Binance is btw a chinese company, but the company was moved to Japan in 2017 when the CCP government banned crypto. If you’re in a US state that doesn’t allow binance but you still want to push the risk curve, then you want kraken.

As far as risk ranges well probably the hedgeye risk range is about the only thing I could even give you as far as entry point.

BTC just had a elon run so you would think we would consolidate and fall a bit but you never know with it. Their risk ranges are usually pretty good but BTC tends to blow wildly out of the ranges sometimes (hey they try.) The RR’s change a lot daily so if you ever want to see daily range ask me and ill repost it. It can change a lot day to day.

also with coinbase, you can make trades with just a password if the amount of crypto is low

but if you add more money they will want you to do 2 point verification but really 2FA is the most secure. It’s an app you add to your phone that generates a code every 60 seconds that cross references if you want to use such.

btw as an aside. bubbles can’t consolidate. Overvalued things can consolidate and trade sideways for a while to let off steam until the value normalizes, and they can even trade sideways or downtrend slowly for a long period if needed.

But ….tulip bulbs at their height or bitcoin in 2017 during the explosion can not consolidate. It can either fuel the fire with more and more euphoria on its way to mars or it can smash to the ground in a heap of rubble.

I am with PRP on switch to Walmart when you can. Their prices are comparable or lower than Amazon. Also look at DHGate so long as you confine yourself ‘on US dock’ supply.

As to Coin I do use Coinbase now. My only advise is buy only as much as you are willing to lose. I view most of these Coins as transactional only. It is a very frictional means to buy international. BTC might change my mind for that single coin.

After thinking about it for a while and discussing it with my wife, I’ll be taking a modest step into crypto over the next few weeks. Just going to do a modest amount (1% to 2% of my invested assets) for now to better understand how it works. I set up a Coinbase account to trade, and I ordered a popular hardware wallet to store crypto outside the exchange. I’m assuming that once I have purchased crypto through Coinbase, I can transfer it into my own wallet without fees. Is this correct?

Not sure what to purchase. Probably 50% Bitcoin, 25% Etherium and a smattering of the other top 10 crypto coins for the other 25%. Any recommendations?

I watch a lot of Lyn Alden, and I get her newsletter. She notes has remained bearish ethereum for no other reason than it keeps changing its code vs BTC that hasn’t changed in like 10 years. In fact ethereum is changing from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake right now.

Because of that I’ve stuck to BTC 90%, and waded into eth 5% or so. That’s just me though.

I’ve been wanting to make a small basket of basically penny stocks but I would need binance to do that.

I don’t store anything on wallet though, but I’ve considered it.

If you do that pay attention to the new reporting guidelines the Biden admin is imposing. It’s like more than a certain amount transferred in a day gets reported to government, and then they tag that wallet to you,

I have a friend who puts all his BTC on blockfi. Basically transferred from coinbase to a wallet. Then he was annoyed he didn’t have a yield. He moved it to blockfi and gets like 6-10% loaning it out a year, and I believe they do so with 100% collateral before any loan (?)

To me the interest rates need to rise a bit because loaning out BTC worries me for some reason.

Ya, after thinking on this more. I would not put a lot of money into BTC without it at being at low end of its risk range (I use hedgeye but its paywall)

perhaps establish a a small position if its in middle of RR just to watch it, but I generally don’t buy anything unless its cheap.

I put more money in when BTC fell to 30k by the way like 10 days ago.

Ethereum is more software platform than a coin. From their literature —

“Ethereum is a technology that lets you send cryptocurrency to anyone for a small fee. It also powers applications that everyone can use and no one can take down.

    It’s the world’s programmable blockchain.

By that admission ethereum’s play in the market is growth and adoption. Going to be a loose analogy — BTC is to gold as ethereum is to Amazon stock. Different approaches to valuation.

Realistically the GOP is already a “dead Party walking”, but if McConnell doesn’t hold the GOP together enough to prevent Trump from being “convicted”, then the collapse will be immediate. The ONLY political donations I will make going forward, if I make any, will be to Primary candidates opposing the idiot Senators and Reps who allowed this sham to go forward. Schumer & Pelosi hold their Party together no matter what…the GOP never does.

    From the article:
==> “Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is signaling to fellow Republicans that the final vote on Donald Trump’s impeachment is matter of conscience and that senators who disputed the constitutionality of the trial could still vote to convict the former president, according to three people familiar with his thinking.”

Interesting link about reporting requirements. Have any idea that it has been implemented/approved?

The thing is I don’t know if this really improves anything. Sure it will catch the ignorant, the unwary and the law abiding. The determined criminal will by pass all this. There are private proof of work protocols ( Zk-SNARK) and wallets that support them. Classic would be drug dealing. Street dealers dealing in dime bags could easily stay under the radar with these limits using LiteCoin on an exchange. The individual amounts transferred to a series of private ZCash wallets off exchange and continue on that basis right up the food chain to the cartels. Then complete your conversion to something public (cash, gold, oil) in a non participating country. Zk-SNARK does not depend on a public ledger like BTC does.

    JR, 85,

What amuses me is the futility and stupidity of the effort. Lets say they convict Trump. It is not clear that the conviction would even prevent from from assuming office in 2024 if he won. Consider the case of Alcee Hastings — https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/10/30/democrat-alcee-hastings-who-was-impeached-and-removed-makes-impeachment-rules/ — He was impeached as a federal judge, convicted, removed, ran for Congress, won, and now sits making rules against Trump. That is de Jure standing that impeachment/conviction would not prevent someone from assuming a federal office.

Even if it did, Trump could amass an army of supporters and money to put anyone he wants into the office and pull that off. The politicians don’t understand the depth of disgust half the population holds against them. The Socialists do however and that is why they are making a bold attempt to change not only the rules of the game, but the game itself.

I sat, as did millions of other Americans, and watched as the government underwent a peaceful transition of power yesterday..

Nouriel Roubini wans BTC would crash if a proper carbon tax is applied to it.

(It’s frustrating to me that we have an asset that is about to topple traditional finance, but its only threat is the politicians.)

The brilliance of Tesla and Saylor buying bitcoin is that if it goes down it gets marked as a loss on their balance sheet.

If the price of bitcoin goes up, well it’s a capital asset so you don’t pay taxes on it until and unless you sell it. And as they said they want to accept BTC as payment for tesla of which they can add to their hoard (not change to us dollars.) Also there would be no reason to sell. If you’re going business in the Argentine peso 10 years ago, you would want your revenue denominated in the USD (the strong currency) and you costs denominated in the bad home currency peso. The third world has long understood this vs Americans who always have the strong currency.

Also I laid out the minor bull scenario vs the major. The minor bull thesis is every S&P well on average at least buys 1% BTC for their cash reserves. That puts BTC at 85k a coin. The major bull thesis is every S&P on average at least buys 10%.

But if every company puts 1% that 1% on the early movers becomes more like 2-4%. We can already see this with Elon Musk. He put 5% but a week later he now has 7.5% BTC as a percent of cash reserves.

So it may well be that buying 5% turns into a 10% stake very quickly

  96. 2021 February 10 1:51 pm
    PresidentRonaldPaul permalink

If you had Argentine company 5 or 10 years ago would you swap the dollar revenue you had for pesos so that you could pay taxes on it if that was the law. Or would you leave it in the strong appreciating currency.

Musk even addressed this. He noted that if people for Teslas in BTC he will not plan on converting the BTC to dollars rather it would be added to his BTC holding.

Also the ultra-ultra-ultra bull thesis would be at some point BTC becoming the reserve currency (unlikely in my opinion) but the fact that Americans hold 8-10 million BTC currently puts the USA as the best positioned country in the world. A lot of the BTC was lost early on people losing passwords and not taking it seriously etc and some of the BTC has yet to be issued.

Why not change your withholding and do the same thing with the diff? Now there are two tricks that will be different for everyone depending on whether W2 or not.:

    * There is a threshold based on AGI when a ‘insufficient withhold penalty’ may apply. You want to adjust just enough to avoid that event.
    * Collect the 8.6% all year on the difference in withholding and just expect to pay a larger bill to US Gov in one lump rather than incrementally.

Pocket the % diff. Did something similar with a cyclical stock once.

If there was ever a quote for our time, this is it.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.”
