Sports Ratings Plummet Due to SJW Messaging

2021 March 31
by bc3b

This should come as no surprise to anyone who has been paying attention, but 34% of Americans say they are spending less time watching sports to social justice messaging by players, teams and leagues.

Even NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has taken note and the NBA has cut way back on its social messaging this year.

Someone who hasn’t been paying attention is Tony Clark, head of the baseball players union, who is fighting to have the All-Star game moved from Atlanta this summer because of the laws Georgia has passed to reduce voter fraud. This is not only a SJW issue but a highly political issue as Republicans are fighting to keep measures in place to protect the integrity of elections, while Democrats want to eliminate virtually all voting laws to facilitate voter fraud.

It’s interesting that the NBA, which has one of the farthest left fan bases, is cutting back while Major League Baseball, which has a center right fan base seems intent on hacking its fans off.

As NBA ratings have declined over the current season, a new poll shows that more than 30 percent of Americans say they have watched less sports over political and social justice messaging.

The poll, which was conducted by Yahoo News/YouGov, found 34.5 percent of respondents saying they have watched less sports due to social justice campaigns. According to the poll, 11 percent of people said they have watched more sports as a result of the social justice messaging, and 56.3 percent said they have watched the same amount.

Looking at the different political party affiliations, 19 percent of Democrats said they have watched less sports in light of social justice messaging, while 13.7 percent said they have watched more. In comparison, 53 percent of Republicans said they have watched less sports due to social justice messaging, and just 8.6 percent said they have watched more.

The poll also found that men were more likely to watch less sports as a result of social justice efforts, as 37.6 percent said so, compared to 28 percent of women. According to the poll, 13 percent of men and 7 percent of women said they have watched more sports.

Yahoo News/YouGov surveyed 1,606 U.S. adults from March 22 to March 25 and reported a margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.

Hat tip: Newsweek (of all places)

Exit question: Why is it social justice warriors claim its racist to require ID to vote but they have no problems with requiring ID to board a plane, cash a check, open a bank account or a P.O. box or withdraw cash from your bank account?

The golden era of sports in the US ended about 10 years ago. MLB attendance has been declining almost every year since 2012.

Good advice. Any interaction with the KGB FBI should be recorded. Can anyone remember the last time they read of the FBI catching criminals rather than being involved in politics?

Khabib and ngannou remind me of the bane story in the batman movies

In the case of Khabib some guy who lives in the mountains, and all they do is fight each other in fight schools or go to war against Russia.

    Khabib- rise of a savage

In the case of Ngannou just some dude who got deported 7 times over 14 months living out in the woods eating trash at risk of dying on the water every time he attempted until he finally made, and then he trained as a homeless guy in France until he made it to the USA. Basically came out of a pit.

Delta Airlines lets us know where they stand.
Good to know, Bastian. Good to know.

72 Black Executives Joined By Delta, Microsoft In Opposing Georgia Election Law

Delta CEO: Georgia Voting Law ‘Unacceptable’
In a memo circulated to its employee and posted to the Delta “news hub,” Bastian criticized the new law. While he took credit on behalf of Delta and other businesses for helping to “eliminating the most suppressive tactics that some had proposed,” he maintained that “the final bill is unacceptable and does not match Delta’s values.”

“The right to vote is sacred,” Bastian wrote. “It is fundamental to our democracy and those rights not only need to be protected, but easily facilitated in a safe and secure manner.”
After having time to now fully understand all that is in the bill, coupled with discussions with leaders and employees in the Black community, it’s evident that the bill includes provisions that will make it harder for many underrepresented voters, particularly Black voters, to exercise their constitutional right to elect their representatives. That is wrong.
Bastian went a step further, saying “the entire rationale for this bill was based on a lie: that there was widespread voter fraud in Georgia in the 2020 elections.” He called the idea an “excuse” used across the country to “restrict voting rights.”

commenter: “More business leaders talking about “our values.” Isn’t Delta a zombie company? Just greasing the Dems for another handout.”
commenter: “I suppose Delta is now going to allow passengers to board without ID.”

Great to see EEENF up 57% but how many million shares do you need to buy before the gain is enough to buy a cup of coffee? LOL

I don’t recall ever buying a penny stock.
I’ve always assumed you’d plunk down $50 for a wad of shares and another $50 for the broker’s commission. You would have to get a double just to break even.

I just started mixing CassandraAI with my general conceptual longs sorting through her recommendations: my five horseman financials, materials, industrials, commodities in general including energy, and crypto.

The reason I’ve loved financials this year is because the underlying business model of banks in general.

This model is to borrow short (short end of curve) and lend long(long end of curve.)

Banks borrow at the short end of the yield curve, which is zero percent or even negative in the EU. They lend at the long end of the yield curve which is 1.744% today. However, last year their spread was 0% to like 0.5% on the long end. If the fed is going to let yields rise and continue to allow the spread to widen well it’s not the worst bet.

It’s funny because long term I’m a bit bearish the old dino banks (bank of america, jpm, GS etc) because I think fintech is going to destroy them, but in the short term they have wind at their back meanwhile the nasdaq is always on shaky footing with these rising rates.

NOW there is the Achilles heel to the whole scheme. If you have a right to vote they can’t stop you. If they do, its a class 1 federal felony.

If crypto does not destroy them, the Fed will. The Fed wants to go direct to the end consumer bypass the Tier 1 banks. Ole Jamie is going to be sad.
