Police Gear Up for Violent Summer

2021 May 16
by bc3b

Warmer temperatures are on the way and with warmer temperatures come increased crime.

It’s already happening in Chicago. As of last night 29 have been shot and 5 killed across the city this weekend and there’s still one day to go.

Police departments in New York City and other large metro areas across the U.S. are bulking up patrols and implementing new tactics to prepare for what they say could be a violent summer.

States lifting Covid-19 restrictions and more people out in public spaces in warmer weather increase the likelihood of more shootings, as well as less-serious crimes, officials say. Many crimes, including violent ones, normally rise in summer. Gun purchases also rose during the pandemic and cities have seen an increase in guns being used in crimes.

Shootings and homicides in big U.S. cities are up this year again after rising last year. In the last three months of 2020, homicides rose 32.2% in cities with a population of at least one million, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Quarterly Uniform Crime Report.

In New York City, the number of homicides has reached 146 for the year so far, an increase of 27% from 115 during the same period in 2020. In Dallas, police have counted 75 homicides this year, up from 58 during the same period last year. Chicago police have recorded 195 homicides, up from 160 in the year-ago period.

“We’re coming out of the pandemic, life is starting again and more people are going to be out on the street,” said the Jersey City, N.J., director of public safety, James Shea.

Political correctness and a dishonest media prevents a discussion on the problem. Murders aren’t rising in places like Naperville, Rochester Hills, Sandy Springs or Frisco. They are occurring in cities like Chicago and spreading to what was once safe areas, like north Chicago.

Yet, the NAACP, CNN and race-baiters like LeBron James and Shannon Sharpe are strangely silent. Black Lives don’t Matter when an innocent black child is gunned down by black gang-bangers. One of this weekend’s shooting victims is a two year old girl.

Worse, the narrative that MSM is trying to portray is White on Asian assaults.

They are trying to drive a wedge between the two groups, both of which are high achieving populations.

Should we think the vast majority of Asians are falling for it? I know a small percentage of leftist Asians will, but that percentage is no different from Whites who believe it is true. Any elderly Asian pensioner getting on a bus in an urban center knows who the predators are around them and who isn’t.

Any % the Lib will view as a win. But I think the White-Asian dynamic is mostly being pushed for a wider audience beyond White-Asian. The White-Black suppression/assault has lost its effect so the thought-meisters have pivoted to the Asian community as the victim group.

Considering the history of Asians in this country it is quite surprising how aligned we are as two groups. ‘You do You’ is powerful if left to flourish.

First off better reporting/assessment than what we would get out of MSM. The Maher example is why I don’t consider The Jab a vaccine. A vaccine PREVENTS you from getting the disease to begin with and it is becoming clear that at least with some of them that is not the case.

Oh and one more item I have alluded to before. Why the hell are any of us playing with this sh$*? Personally, thru whatever means, all research of this type should cease. Give every participant a year to wind down and properly dispose of the contents. Then let it be known if you play with this sh*% again that nation will be bombed out of existence by the other powers. No exceptions.

11, “is he right?” about the Wall O’ Money coming soon from institutions.

Great question. BTC and ETH have gone from all-time highs down to 52,000/4000 and then further down to 48,000/3800. Now they are 44K and 3.3K respectively.
    Possible outcomes:
    1) cryptos on their way to the graveyard
    2) gathering storm of gov’t intervention to try to break crypto and protect fiat currencies
    3) price manipulation so the institutions can buy-in at good levels
    4) natural volatility

I plan to HODL, this is the chance for all us newbs to experience what the long-time veterans have gone through repeatedly over the past few years.

cryptos on their way to the graveyard

This is what I’m hoping for. I’ve been playing with crypto for the last few months and I still just don’t get it. It has a negative intrinsic value (cost money, energy and resources just to maintain) and the hope that it could ever be made simple enough that a person with a 90 IQ can deal with on a daily basis is just a pipe dream. I’m by no means a fan of fiat currency, but I don’t see how any of the cryptos so far can become a general-purpose replacement. The whole thing looks to be tulip mania all over again. We may look back and snicker at the idea that a single tulip could at one time buy you a nice house in Holland, but here we are 400 years later arguing the same thing about a sequence of 1’s and 0’s. At least a tulip will produce a flower that your girlfriend might appreciate. The whole crypto thing to me feels like a joke that has gone too far.

I’m perfectly willing to accept that I’m completely wrong on this, but I would rather put my time and energy in actually producing something of tangible worth to someone else than look at complex charts and divine how that will affect the price of a string of ethereal 1’s and 0’s. My father, who is into crypto but can barely navigate Windows on a daily basis, thinks I’m crazy in my opinion, I have to call it as I see it from where I see it today.

Heck anything can go to $0. Stocks of course do it all the time. $BTC only has one enemy, FedCoin if it ever comes. Lacking that $BTC is a better vehicle for asset transfer than the SWIFT system, or any other of the sovereign money schemes. I keep a couple hundred in BTC in my wallet. ETH I think has a better story. Its programmable aspects has a lot to say for it in various ways.

Very much so. I can’t believe there are people wearing masks in wide-open parks here in the Bay Area. If you are afraid of the Wuhan Flu, it’s easier just to stay 30 or 40 feet away from everyone else.

A few other people and I have stopped wearing a mask where I work and we’ll see how it goes. When discussing it, my rationale is the CDC says we no longer have to if we are all vaccinated (don’t you believe in science) and the usurper in chief says the new rules are to either get the vaccine or continue to wear a mask.

By the way, if we started stitching yellow stars to the masks we wore, would people get the point?
Or, would a scarlet letter be more appropriate?

It’s sad that whether a person gets a vaccine is now a political statement — on both sides. Whether you are forced to get a vaccine is indeed politics of the worst kind, but exercising one’s own free will to get or not get a vaccine shouldn’t be.

Over the past 20 years, I probably got the normal flu vaccine about 1/3 of the time — when it was convenient to get and I didn’t mind feeling like crap for a day or so which is my normal reaction to any flu vaccine. I honestly don’t look at this vaccine any differently, except that I know it’s more experimental and the leftists in the Bay Area are more than willing and able to make my life a living hell if I didn’t get it.

The Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP) is an optional benefit that allows eligible police officers and firefighters to accumulate a lump–sum of money for retirement. The Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund (OP&F) is proud to offer this benefit to its membership, which has been the most requested addition to OP&F’s benefit offerings in many years.

They all have said the same thing, if it gets too bad, they are gone. Most are in positions where they are not at risk (Impound Lot, Property Room etc). But they hear the stories from fellow officers, slow response times and hesitation to do their job. Add in that leadership from the Mayor/Council on down is non-existent.

Well, it’s beating a dead horse but regarding “cryptos heading for the graveyard”, I think not.
With gov’t printing money like crazy, any asset will have some attraction. And BTC, despite its ups and downs over the years, has been a survivor.
Of course, maybe now that it’s playing in the big leagues there’s a different level of opposition involved. But there are plenty of retail accounts, there are plenty of businesses involved and there are plenty of big financial firms eager to sell crypto-related products like ETFs to satisfy customer demand.
“Whether we like it or not …” BTC may have a future.

    Gold up strong today.

Comparing Bitcoin in particular to gold:
    1) Gold is mined by a prospector with his donkey, pick and shovel. Or with giant mining gear these days. Real expenditure of effort.
Bitcoin is “mined” by real computer effort, which can be measure in electricity consumed.
    2) Gold is unique and verifiable. The metal has chemical properties, does not tarnish and so on.
Bitcoin is unique and verifiable, protected by BlockChain technology
    3) Gold is accepted as valuable. This is the subjective element! It is a shared social-agreement to accept that gold has value. It has for many centuries been valued, but that is not something required, it’s a social construct that many (not all) agree to.
Bitcoin is in the process of being accepted as valuable. Not all, and perhaps not a majority, accept it. But many do and the number gradually increases, esp as gov’ts world wide debase their fiat currency. BTCs future is of course dependent on whether the confidence is maintained and extended and it’s strictly a subjective thing.

Today, DePerno got a call from a VFW representative telling him that they could no longer allow him to use the VFW hall for his press conference after they allegedly received threats from someone or some group for allowing DePerno to use their facility for his press conference.”

And this from someone who viewed the press conference:
“Tabulators can be stuffed with ballots after the fact and the software allows backdating the tape record to whatever date you need.”
And this bombshell, GOPe is helping Dems hide the evidence:
“Republicans, at various county levels, help spearhead a plan to have all the counties in Michigan turn off the image saving feature of their scanners so the images would not exist should a FOIA request ask for them. DePerno has the email chain that proves this coordinated effort to destroy public records.”

89, fine. Bring ’em all home, then. The carbon footprint of an armed force is considerable. Bring ’em back.

Regarding 87, I read that it is not correct. I’m not an expert but the argument I read was that people were subtracting any Covid death that included a co-morbidity, which left nearly nothing. But this was not what CDC actually did, this was other people subtracting. Because the word “co-morbid” sounds like “morbid” which has a root word meaning death, therefore it was assumed that if you died of Covid+obesity+diabetes you actually had fatal diabetes (comorbid) so it wasn’t really a Covid-only death.
Actually the technical meaning of co-morbid is much more along the line of “correlated”. So comorbidities are simply conditions “also present” when you died. They didn’t cause the death. The point is to build up relationships so you’ll know if certain conditions can be used for predictions. Not that they were involved with the death.
So technically “listening to classical music” or “eat Cheetos” could be co-morbidities. But those 2 are so unlikely to be relevant they only count conditions that are bad for your health. FWIW.

92, Europeans suck at science and innovation? AZ seems defective.

“… while the AstraZeneca shot only accounts for about 26% of the roughly 2.7MM vaccines that have been administered so far in Sweden, but makes up around 63% of the side effects reports.

Ebba Hallberg, an official with the Medical Products Agency, told Swedish media that it was unusual to receive so many reports of side effects. She added that the tally was likely higher because of public focus on the new vaccines. To head off complaints that many of the incidences of side effects were minor, she said healthcare providers are likely only reporting the more “serious” side effects.

One Swedish media outlet said the number of complaints filed in just a few months exceeded the number typically filed over 4 years, which underscores the public anxieties about the COVID vaccines”

    Heh. “In yo face, Fauci!”
Two Months After Biden Blasted “Neanderthal Thinking”, Texas Reports Zero COVID Deaths
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott elicited criticism from Dr. Fauci and a host of Democrats when he decided to drop all COVID-19-linked restrictions in the Lone Star State back in March. Now, as states across the country are falling in line with President Biden’s aggressive new mask guidance (clearly intended to encourage more holdouts to accept the vaccine) Texas is reporting a milestone that many of these critics once believed unthinkable: On Sunday, the state’s Department of State Health Services reported its first day without a single COVID-19 deaths since March 21, 2020.

There are plenty of reports of police departments, medical staff and colleges where the vaxx rate is low due to employee reluctance. But the Big Kahuna himself?
Fauci says that only ‘a little bit more than half’ of his employees are vaccinated for COVID (Note: Fauci is actually in a small bureau, not the CDC itself, but I think the CDC vaxx rate is not outstanding either).
