The Wolf Turned Out to Be a Collie

The National School Boards Association, whose letter to the President Attorney General Merrick Garland stated was his reason for siccing the FBI and National Security Division (which investigates terrorism) on parents (citing them as “domestic terrorists”), has walked back the letter for its “over the top” rhetoric.

This comes after Garland embarrassed himself before the House Judiciary Committee last week and 20 state school boards disavowed the letter. Garland’s performance was definitely “not ready for prime time” as he came across incompetent and poorly informed.

The National School Boards Association board of directors Friday repudiated a letter its two top officials sent to President Biden, which precipitated Attorney General Merrick Garland’s order that the FBI to investigate complaints of threats to school officials from parents.

In a message to NSBA members, the board said that “we regret and apologize for the letter,” which was sent Sept. 29 and co-signed by association CEO Chip Slaven and President Viola Garcia.

“To be clear, the safety of school board members, other public school officials, and students is our top priority, and there remains important work to be done on this issue,” the board wrote. “However, there was no justification for some of the language included in the letter.”

The message added that “we deeply value not only the work of local school boards that make important contributions within our communities, but also the voices of parents, who should and must continue to be heard when it comes to decisions about their children’s education, health, and safety.”

(snip)

Emails obtained earlier this week by the group Parents Defending Education showed that board members had not been consulted about the Sept. 29 letter, which suggested that parents who object to mask mandates and the imposition of critical race theory in classrooms are engaging in “a form of domestic terrorism.”

(snip)

The letter from Slaven and Garcia caused a national uproar after it floated the idea that verbal confrontations and other incidents at local school board meetings across the US constituted “acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials.”

“[T]he classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes,” read the letter, which went on to ask the administration to “examine appropriate enforceable actions” under a raft of legislation — including the post-9/11 Patriot Act.

On the same day Slaven sent the letter to Biden, he circulated it among the NSBA’s board and noted that “in talks over the last several weeks with White House staff, they requested additional information on some of the specific threats, so the letter also details many of the incidents that have been occurring.”

(snip)

Under questioning from House Judiciary Committee ranking member Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) Thursday, Garland denied that anyone from the White House had spoken to him about the NSBA letter, but added, “I am sure — at least, I certainly would believe that the White House communicated its concerns about the letter to the Justice Department.”

When Jordan asked whether Garland or anyone at the Justice Department discussed his Oct. 4 memo with anyone at the White House, the attorney general answered: “I did not. I don’t know whether anyone discussed the memo. I am sure that the communication from the National Association of School Boards was discussed between the White House and the Justice Department and that’s perfectly appropriate.”

Garland didn’t get to harm the U.S. forever as a Supreme Court “Justice”…so he’s got to cram the harm into a couple years. He’s working hard at that.

Funny how I have to read a foreign press release of what is going on in my own country — https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10132015/Loudoun-County-judge-finds-boy-skirt-GUILTY-sexually-assaulting-female-student.html — The parents are owed more than an apology. The entire school board should be in jail as accessories after the fact.

Instead of the worst Supreme Court Justice in history, Garland will be remembered as the worst Attorney General ever, beating out Eric Holder.

I will be in Indiana Thursday thru Saturday (primarily to attend my sister-in-law’s funeral).

Get your college football picks in on time but the post may be a little late. I have already selected the cheerleaders. Schools represented include: Louisville, Georgia Tech, Oregon, Applachain State (making its first appearance), Texas Tech, Colorado, LSU, McGill (Canada – I doubt IP will complain about her chest) and, of course, Southern Cal so fight on doesn’t cry.

Ray Epps, someone who repeatedly urged 1-6 attendees to storm the capitol the night before and directed them into the Capitol January 6, is not among the 600+ that have been indicted. The night of January 5 shows Epps exhorting people to storm the Capitol and shows people shouting “Fed. Fed. Fed ….” suspecting he is a government plant.

Last week Rep Thomas Massie (R-KY) questioned Merrick Garland about Epps and Garland dodged the question. Why hasn’t the FBI indicted Epps for inciting a riot? Most who have been charged did far less than Epps.

A long piece, but excellent reporting by the Revolver:

Delaware Audit Confirms Dead Voters And Literally Impossible Numbers From Nursing Homes In The 2020 Election
The Delaware audit, which is now roughly thirty percent complete, has confirmed widespread fraud in the 2020 election in Joe Biden’s home state. Patriots For Delaware materials obtained by NATIONAL FILE show that so far 1,768 dead voters have been found, a “statistically impossible” number of mail-in ballots were returned, thousands of people who had moved out of state voted in Delaware, and some nursing and assisted living homes saw a much greater than 100 percent voter turnout and in some cases a greater than 200 percent and 300 percent voter turnout.

This excerpt from Patrick Henry’s historic speech is utterly apropos to the article linked below:

They tell us, sir, that we are weak — unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed…? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance, by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

Berkeley residents are about to discover how dysfunctional the latest California Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA) has become. The RHNA (pronounced REE-na) process, and the housing elements based on it, have always been bureaucratic, expensive and ineffective. But thanks to the intervention of state Sen. Scott Wiener, RHNA has been twisted into a profit-making tool for his corporate allies.

A minor econ YouTuber talks about China.
    A few of his points:
    1) lots of ships in limbo off China, it’s not just LA
    2) plenty of goods (example: shoes) arriving moldy and unsellable
    3) plenty of food rotting and dumped into the sea, this triggers insurance claims by farmers and shippers
    4) buyers can’t come to shows and order goods due to Covid
It’s not just EverGrande and real estate

Imagine what Tyson must be thinking right about now. Why you may ask? Well Tyson kills birds whole, freezes them, ships them to China for processing then ships back the packaged product. Worse they get to slap a ‘Made in USA’ label on the package.

The Mark Steyn article was interesting.

I appreciate the persistence of the person asking “When do we get to use the guns?”

The Left has historically wiped out their opposition. And they WILL get around to it here as well.

I don’t think “We” (the freedom loving Americans) use guns first. But unlike Waco and Ruby Ridge, WHEN the government starts shooting this time, I think “We” shoot back. Right now Garland is using the DOJ like his own personal goon-squad. But the intimidation is backfiring.

But if Garland takes his intimidation to the “next level”….

The govt is doing a horrible job of fulfilling its duties. A horrible job of protecting Duh People.
Would you say it’s noticeable that some get payouts but not others?
Fort Hood, Boston Marathon bomb, Florida nightclub shooting by known wolf, Las Vegas, many more will occur to you.

“Families of nine people killed in an attack at a Black South Carolina church have reached a settlement with the Justice Department over a faulty background check that allowed Dylann Roof to buy the gun he used in the 2015 massacre.

The $88 million deal, which includes $63 million for the families of the slain and $25 million for survivors of the shooting, was set to be announced Thursday in Washington, according to lawyers involved in the settlement.

Weeks before the church shooting, Roof had been arrested on Feb. 28, 2015 by Columbia, South Carolina, police on a drug possession charge. But a series of clerical errors and missteps allowed Roof to buy the handgun he later used in the massacre.”

A commenter claims Roof was arrested but not convicted thus innocent till proven. If so, maybe the background check was handled correctly? Not sure of how that’s handled
