Making Biden Look Good for SOTU Speech
Even if you could bring Peter Graves back to life, get 91-year old Barbara Bain out of the senior center and reassemble the Mission Impossible Team, making Joe Biden look good is well beyond their capabilities.
What’s Biden going to claim as his “major achievements?”
- Afghanistan withdrawal
- The economy
- Highest inflation rate in 40 years
- Supply chain shortages
- The loss of energy independence
- 37% approval rating
- Extreme leftists appointed judges and administration lackies
- Hunter, he smartest man he has ever met
- The border
- Rising violent crime
- Foreign policy
- Education
- The deficit
- Divided America
- Mandates
- Kamala Harris – his astute VP
- His favorite ice cream flavor
Most seem to think Biden will attempt to take credit for defeating COVID. That may be the reason why so many blue states have suddenly dropped mask requirements and other draconian COVID mandates. So Biden can claim the crisis is over, even though more died from COVID during his presidency than Trump’s. Expect the environment to be another major topic.

The media will twist themselves in even crazier knots trying to put lipstick on the pig that IS Joe Biden.
If I watch I’ll have to drink heavily…which might be a reason to watch! 🙂

Conspiracy Theories?
Mine have all come true so here’s some new ones.
Actually, this article is well organized and the theories sound pretty plausible to me.
In particular, the “Pandemic Treaty” section will bear watching

mpt’s fave military analyst makes some predictions that I’d rate as prescient. Well, it’s only from 2 months ago but still!
Check out the first 5 min. His attitude towards Trump and Trump supporters make me want to hate him but credit where it’s due. This is on point.

“The future is a very weird place. Ukrainians are uploading videos on TikTok about how to drive abandoned or captured Russian military vehicles.”
https://mobile.twitter.com/JoshuaPotash/status/1498332884121399307
The comments indicate this is fake news but it’s pretty fun.
Follow up: I think this from Instapundit or a commenter thereof.
“Ukraine government asked citizens to turn in captured Russian tanks.
Citizens replied the tanks were lost in a tragic boating accident.”

Speaking of fake news, CNN, Adam Kinzinger and Dan Crenshaw taken in by Ukraine ace pilot, children seeing daddy off to war eight years ago, Russians murdering Ukraine sailors who are still alive and former Miss Ukraine (not ours) going off to war with airsoft gun.

9 – Peter Zeihan is not conservative, but rather a globalist who realizes that globalism is over and will not be coming back in our lifetime. The only president that I’ve ever heard him have kind words for is George H. W. Bush — mister “New World Order”. He believes the first Bush was the last President we had who was truly qualified for the job.
If you want to hear Peter Zeihan compliment Trump, it will be when he talks about the trade deals that Trump secured with Mexico, Canada, Japan, Korea, and the UK during his term. He also appreciates that Trump recognized and successfully rode the trend of populism to be elected in 2016. This is balanced against the fact that he clearly has personal disdain for Trumps personality.
Although I don’t share Peter Zeihan’s politics, I do like that provides a useful historic perspective on why things are the way they are. Zeihan’s main thesis is that since 1945, America basically bribed other nations to take our side in the cold war, and now that Americans are unwilling, or unable, to continue the bribes the shit will hit fan globally. I believe this is true and that the bribes were paid for out of the lost prosperity for the American middle class to the benefit of the elites over the last 70 years or so.

“This is balanced against the fact that he clearly has personal disdain for Trumps personality.”
Trump is a brash, loud mouth New Yorker. Comes with the territory there. So Zeihan is on point. But there is an old saying, “ain’t bragging if ya done it.” You look at what Trump has done with his life. He earned his bragging rights. That is why I give him a pass on that score.
Now if he could just prove to me that he will be better this time around about who he hires I would be all for him, again.
[15]
10,
That is a time honored battle tactic, recover lost gear from the enemy and use it against them. During the latter stages of WWII Germans would paint iron crosses on captured Sherman tanks and turn them on Americans. The boating accident, well maybe that is fake news! 🙂
Ought to keep in mind that we live in a time where 4Gen warfare is in play. One of the tools is ‘perception can make reality’. If your opponent thinks you have X to use against them their strategy is adjusted compensate hopefully to their detriment. To UA’s credit either intentionally or by pluck they have played it quite well. Just look at the NATO countries that have lined up to supply them without triggering Article 5.
[16]
“The future is a very weird place. Ukrainians are uploading videos on TikTok about how to drive abandoned or captured Russian military vehicles.”

I wonder. I know RU didn’t want or intend to keep most of the land that’s being moved on (just a temp. necessity for getting what they do want/need). In light of this and other insanity I wonder does he re-factor and maybe just say, we’re here already and they’re not gonna stop with this bullshit so fuck-it, I’m keep everything, welcome to the federation.

—
Good. They walked back that really idiotic rhetoric from yesterday. Note the careful language though “not being” (ie currently) and “nato will not join the conflict.” ….but hey we didn’t say individual members will not. or maybe that’s just whoever typed up the ‘update’ text.
[24]
KH, i re. your question” why the fuck does Treasury Dept.. of all depts have a “Office of Civil Rights and Diversity”?”
I sent your query to the Treasury Dept. (I didn’t mention you), they replied: “Because SHUT UP!
I hope that clears things up for you.
[25]
23,
Rumor was Bulgaria was sending 16 jets. That has been confirmed false by Bulgarian foreign office.
I keep seeing vids of ‘captured’ equipment. One showed a truck with AA equipment mounted; but it was a clear case the driver rolled off the road and got stuck. Damn thing was buried down to the frame. Tank, no fuel. APC with a busted track. Just typical nonwarfare losses.
This is a situation that is RU to lose on their own. UA is a mere inconvenience.
[26]
I saw and maybe posted a comment seen at the ChicagoBoyz blog.
Basically: how come they (Europe) aren’t calling for a cease fire? Instead they’re pouring gas on the fire.
What is the conceivable upside for escalating this? When in the past have pussy Europeans roared like lions?
It’s a puzzle.
Would it be too conspiratorial to think China has the US and EU neutralized, so now they’ve manipulated the US and EU to neutralize Russia on their behalf?
[27]
In EVERY other war/conflict situation I have EVER seen…going back way too many years…there have been “War Correspondents”, photographers, and first-hand accounts that were at least somewhat reliable.
In this war/conflict there have been ZERO. We have a “reporter” here and there “reporting” from a checkpoint, we have TONS of anecdotal BS, 8 year-old photos re-captioned to fit narratives (from both sides), and clearly fictional accounts of “victories”…again, from both sides.
This isn’t the “fog of war”, this is the blanket of bullshit. From both sides.
WTF?
[28]
27, well said. It will be wise not to get invested in any particular narrative until more facts are available.
[29]
Like the author in his conclusion, I too am mad as hell…and not gonna take it anymore. And like him, I get real and/or metaphorical “kicks to the shins” from my wife for speaking up around “left-leaning” friends. Tough. I have concluded numerous conversations with “left leaning” folks using the following line (which I vary depending on where I am at the time): Do you know where ______ is? [they affirm they do]. “Excellent! You should head over there, since that is where the line forms to kiss my ass!” I rarely have to speak with them again…EVER.

I hate to say this, but Twitter has now become the foreign office for all the major news media. It’s free and reliably fits their narrative. What could go wrong?

I plan to watch for two reasons: 1) to see how Brandon attempts to paint a positive picture. This is like Captain John Smith bragging to the passengers about hitting the iceberg. 2. To see what Brandon screws up.
I’ll still have an open thread at BJG, but I may be the only one on it.
[32]
Life in Brandon’s Amerikkka:
The lease on my vehicle expires in July so the dealer has been bugging me to come in to preorder due to inventory shortages. I really like what I am driving so I requested a quote for the same model and equipment, different color. Currently paying $255/mo. Quote: $340/mo.
Will check some other dealers, but it’s not a good time to acquire a new or used vehicle. It’s not all Brandon’s fault, but at least 1/3 of it is.
[33]
Bc3b, I may watch…depending on how much alcohol I want to consume mid-week. But I’ll definately chime in on the thread. Plus one or more sites out there will be drunk-blogging it! 🙂

JR #27 –
I read yesterday that Ukraine-Russia is the first war reported by social media.
Of course, CNN and members of Congress have also (wittingly or unwittingly) fallen for fake news.
* The “Ghost” pilot who shot down 6 MIGs via a video game
* The members of the Ukraine navy “murdered by the Russians” who are still alive
* The image of the children that was taken years ago
* A former Miss Ukraine (thankfully not ours) who is going to fight the Russians with an Air Soft rifle
The establishment has officially labeled the Ukraine as the “good guys” so the media and social media is spewing pro-Ukraine propaganda without vetting it (if it advances the narrative).

I would love to see UA grind RU to a stalemate just on principle. Not in the cards tho. But I will give the win to UA in propaganda. Not because little of it is the truth, but the fact that a large chunk of people are buying it. Making people believe is what propaganda is all about eh?

The Great Climbdown commences:
County of Santa Clara Universal Indoor Mask Requirement to Transition to a Recommendation March 2. Today, the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department announced that all masking metrics have been met and therefore indoor masking will no longer be required beginning March 2. However, the Public Health Department and the California Department of Public Health strongly recommend that the public continue to wear masks in all indoor public spaces.
[50]
Also in the schools.
Beginning at 11:59 p.m. on March 11, California will end its statewide indoor masking requirement in schools. Masking will still be strongly recommended for all students and staff regardless of vaccination status, but will no longer be required.
Governor Newsom shared the following in his statement, “California continues to adjust our policies based on the latest data and science, applying what we’ve learned over the past two years to guide our response to the pandemic. Masks are an effective tool to minimize spread of the virus and future variants, especially when transmission rates are high. We cannot predict the future of the virus, but we are better prepared for it and will continue to take measures rooted in science to keep California moving forward.”
Through March 11, all students and staff are still required to wear masks indoors on school campuses in order to comply with the State mandate. Assuming there is no change in the COVID-19 landscape or spike in cases in the next two weeks, FUHSD expects to implement this change from the State beginning on our campuses on Monday, March 14 for staff (we do not have an instructional day on March 14) and Tuesday, March 15 for students. Following the CDPH’s release of the new guidance, CalOSHA, the State agency which oversees the health and safety of workers in California, also updated their masking guidance so that the new masking guidance also applies to staff.
While the indoor masking change does not go into effect until 11:59 p.m. on March 11, we will no longer require outdoor masking on our campuses effective immediately
